No it's in reference to the ludicrous prices and insane luxury of the offsite glamping.
A lot of the people staying there will be performers or celebrities. Yer Lars Ulrichs and Bradley Coopers and so on.

He didn't the last time he played.

For reasons too tedious to explain here we ended up getting collected by our taxi outside Pennard Orchard.
Seems very much a high end / luxury choice.

Grace Jones is more of a WH headliner - but those in the know say she's turned down the G as it doesn't pay enough money.

Theres an extra magic with someone of that ilk though, like Dolly, it's that your seeing an actual bonafide legend and you quite likely will never get that chance again. Spice Girls? Meh, they'll be back again on a cash cow sometime ...
I don't disagree, but the list of candidates isn't endless. Now that Aretha's brown bread and Elton is headline or nothing there's only really Cher and Barry Manilow left from the God Tier candidates.

The band were great, Ross herself seemed to be enjoying herself and the setlist was more or less on point. Just the vocals that let the side down.

I've not watched it back on TV, or read any reviews.
But stood in the field I was noticing how badly off-key she was at times - which isn't a good sign given that in person vocal issues tend to be mitigated by people singing along whereas the TV coverage can be a lot less forgiving.
The sound mix on her vocals was all over the place - kept going up and down. I guess to compensate for the wind - but it made things worse.
Didn't really impact the mother of all parties going on in the pit.

Unfortunately for all who don't like them on here, nepotism won't stop them headlining the pyramid in the next 5 years.
Indeed. It'll be their declining popularity that does for them.

Right act is subjective though, which is my whole point. If the festival don’t book them they’re not stupid or toxic, they just have a different definition or idea of what a legend slot booking looks like. If the definition of legend is now - has some song along hits and will draw an enormous crowd, then that brings at least 50 previously unconsidered acts into the frame.
Sure. It's all hypothetical until they do or don't book them.
But I'd say the slot certainly favours acts who're household names and that have a catalogue of widely-recognised songs that act as nostalgic triggers. It's why Cher would be a better booking than someone like Richard Thomson. He doesn't command the same affection.

She's got a few signature songs - but that doesn't mean she wrote them. Sinatra didn't write My Way either.

I agree they’ve not got as deep a bench of tunes as Kylie - but the big songs are bloody enormous.

Right, so do you think Glastonbury would be stupid if they didn’t approach the Spice girls then?
I don't know about 'stupid' - but it'd be a tap in - right act in the right slot that would draw an enormous crowd.

I don’t understand your point, are you saying these acts haven’t written any songs?
They're principally singers / entertainers, as opposed to songwriters / musicians. Same as the Spice Girls.

I’m not actually saying they aren’t qualified, I just think it’s an odd stance to suggest the festival are “fucking stupid” if they don’t go after them.
Basically, if they don’t agree with me they’re stupid, even though you could easily argue the Spice Girls don’t fit their previous brief for the slot, whether they want to open that slot up to acts like the spice girls is up to them, but it hardly makes them fucking stupid if they don’t does it?
As it happens the vast majority of previous legends do have a huge back catalogue of songs they’ve written though, easier to name the legends that don’t really isn’t it?
Diana Ross, Kylie, Shirley Bassey, Tom Jones, Tony Bennett....

Kylie had hits across four decades and transcends different generations.
I think you’re confusing having some pop songs with being a legend.
If the festival don’t approach them then they’re aren’t “fucking stupid”, they just have a different definition of legend to you.
I'm not arguing that the spice girls aren’t a ‘big’ act or weren't culturally significant, that just doesn’t automatically qualify them as a legend.
Would you say they werent qualified if the slot was known as The Radio 2 Sunday Teatime Slot? Cos that's what, in reality, the Legends Slot is, not the Godlike Genius Songwriters Slot.

Robbie Williams mentioned glasto in an interview with Zane Lowe. By efests standards that means he is nailed on for the legend slot.
What did he say?
Bob in the legends and Roxy elsewhere on the big one at another time would be far from the worst outcome.

Does anyone know if it’s lets you buy more than one tipi in a single booking? We have two groups hoping to get one, wondering if we could just buy two in one transaction, or whether we need to be lucky enough to get through to the booking page twice…!
In the past you've been able to buy two in the same transaction cos I did it one year (2017).
But - genuinely - it's as difficult as getting a ticket in the first place.

The Spice Girls were originally only active for 6 years and were mostly only popular with school girls at the time.
Nah. They were popular across the board.

Going to Dunfermline tomorrow night.
Will bellow out Hair of the Dog in tribute.

Gnomicide is - of course - correct that when R. Sambora says they've been talking, he means with JBJ rather than with Emily Eavis.

The Steps - Roxy Music continuum, from Too Unserious to Too Serious, is now the system for gauging the wisdom of Legend Slot bookings.
