Can't believe it's next week!  This is where I'm at.  Meeting up with my friend tomorrow to discuss plans.  Went for a walk after work to find that my walking boots aren't waterproof!  So will try to buy some at the weekend and also take my trusty DMs.  Found one of my sandals (no idea where the other one is!)  Need to buy booze.  Made a list of what else I need to do.  Kept wondering what food stalls there would be ( I must admit this took up a lot of my time).  Oh and bought some silly sunglasses.

    Generally got excited really.

    Yeah...this time next week...FINALLY!

Been packed for ages although my other half is leaving to the last minute (as per usual).

    Cannot wait.

Got a dog sitter sorted and put me new tent up yday, easy enough and got it packed away easy enough too - that wont happen at BT though

Buzzing for this now, 3 years in the waiting... gonna be some party.

Getting the tent back into the bag used to be an absolute bastard of a thing! Found since we got an inflatable tent the bag is much better and usually do it at the first attempt.

Cheers. At this point I am at my traditional pre-festival stage of imagining everything that can go wrong.

Ha ha...glad I'm not the only one! I've printed two lots of tickets off, packed everything weeks ago and loaded and unloaded the car twice it make sure I can fit it all in. My other half is dropping me off Thurs to set up then she is coming down with the babby after school Friday...so my panic will stretch until Friday PM when they turn up. Stressful this festival lark!

Don't want to mention the 'W' word but its looking very good at the moment.

Further to this anyone know what the parking/camping arrangements are that are shown in this video?

Seem to be a lot of cars pitched up in a field with tents. Doesn't look like a van field, just a bunch of tents with various cars scattered about.

Guessing might be the field for artists given he appeared to be dj'ing.

Is there a current site map anywhere (specifically campsites in relation to car parks)?

Can't seem to find one on the BT website. Plans changed and now camping with a mate who won't be bringing his van. looking for somewhere not too wild, quietish, nearish to car parks and loos etc. Any suggestions.

Secondary to this is that if anyone is looking for  campervan pass, we probably have one available at face.

Family camping is on the website as 'family and quiet camping'...usually about a 10-15 walk from car park. To be honest nowhere is really far away at Bearded anyway. In terms of loos, normally a few by family but we take one of them little ones you can get from most camping shops for £15-£20 just for any 3am wee's if you dont fancy getting dressed and traipsing to the portaloos in the rain.

Yeah, massive fan and very much looking forward to seeing them. Their most recent albums are excellent. Also, encouragingly, the latest Placebo offering is very strong too. Best BT set of headliners ever I’d say.

Must admit I was a bit indifferent about Placebo, despite loving them back in the day. Been listening to them loads recently and forgot how many great tunes they have, now on my must see list.

Lost count of how many times I've seen Flaming Lips live and they have never been anything less than mind blowing

Some incredible bands on...gonna be an absolutely cracking weekend!

    Hello all.

I'm attending for the first time this year with a couple of pals. Any tips on which campsite to aim for? Late 30s, no kids with us, extremely up for the craic. Trying to twist their arms to come Thursday rather than Friday morning. How's the queueing?

    Cheers!

Expect there might be a queue at 9am on the Thursday and possibly after the schools close Friday but otherwise you should be fine. Avoid camping in Family and you will be fine. The carpark to any of the campsites is not a massive trek...one of the easiest festivals I've ever been to.

Would definitely recommend talking your mates into getting there on the Thursday if you can, extra day drinking and the likes of Dreadzone and Craig Charles...why wouldn't you?!

Its a great festival...really nice laid back crowd, very few knobheads. Gonna be a cracking weekend...have a good one!

Was this a covid decision do you think after 2 years lost..? End of an era...

I've always said the last band I want to see at my last festival was Flaming Lips. Although Bearded isnt our last booked festival for this year (and hopefully I might have a few more festival years in me yet), if this is my last Bearded, can't imagine a better way to end it.

This year - no, all the noises coming out sound like it'll be recognisably Bearded in just about all respects, and I believe that the previous owners are still heavily involved at the moment.

Beyond that - less confident - I suspect that DHP will want to use this year as a learning exercise, and so depending on what they see and how they feel about it we might see changes next year.

We haven't been going that long but for me it is absolutely the highlight of my year...one of the main reasons I can drag my arse out of bed every day to do a job I don't particularly enjoy.

Can't think of anything they could do to make it better. A lot of festivals try to grow and get bigger name headliners but lose what made them special.

We'll just have to wait and see how it goes I suppose!

  10. Do we think the investment from the Rock City owners will change the festival much? Really hope not. Believe the bars will be run by them now rather than the company that have run them previously.

Can't believe after buying the tickets about 2.5 years ago we will be there is less than 2 weeks.

Sadly completely unsurprised. The line-up seemed very poor value. I usually like to support festivals but I think I’m going to ask for my money back. I’d like to see the 2023 lineup before the commit to anything

Still Bearded Theory tickets available if the refund burns a hole in your pocket!

From the website (but not yet their social media, despite having last posted to Facebook six days ago) Funny how only certain specific festivals are falling victim to "ongoing COVID ramifications", especially given this one took place last year while there were still restrictions in place.

Think the general concensus on here was that we felt this one might struggle to shift the tickets after the line up was announced. Shame though, never like to see a festival fail and last year was a really good weekend.

Maybe in moving the date to Sept they are hoping to avoid clashing with other festivals/people's holidays?

Hopefully it will return next year with a stronger line up...I definitely wouldn't rule out going again.

Beginning to get excited for this now. However my pregnant girlfriend can no longer get up from the floor 🤣 As a result I've bought a double camp bed for use with our cheap and nasty double airbed. However a pre-fest test has revealed it is no longer fit for purpose. I know eFests is the place for camping equipment boffins, so who can recommend me a decent double mattress?

Initially only wanted to spend £40-50 but if there's something out there that's amazing I could possibly stretch to £100 as we'll likely get good use out of it in future.

The "Outwell Dreamcatcher Double (7.5cm) Self Inflating Sleeping Mat" seems about the best I've found (albeit slightly out my price range). The bed I've bought is the Outwell Posadas double, and is 135cm wide so looking for an equivalent width mat.

    Any ideas chaps? 😃

We have a double campbed which we put a double airbed on top of and it works great, much better nights sleep. In terms of airbeds, we've had a couple but tend to find the self inflating ones don't tend to be as good, we had one we used for a couple of festivals but it was pretty shit, barely off the floor. Much better after getting an airbed we inflate ourselves along with a cheap battery operated pump.

  14. If anybody is a loose end on 11th June highly recommend this...cracking all dayer in Wakefield. Been trekking up from Brum for this for a few years now and well worth the £33. Its one of them 'get a wristband and get in multiple venue jobbies'

Thanks mate. Have you got anything else lined up instead?

Already had Bearded Theory, Camper Calling and Long Division booked. Was hoping to talk my missus into doing Beautiful Days again but she booked Rewind so gotta sit through 3 days of 80's shit!

  16. We decided wasn't worth taking the babby out of school on the Friday and given the change of venue would have meant we wouldnt have got there until late and missed most the Friday so we got a refund. To be fair the organisers were sound. Shame, hopefully the line up will improve next year and we would definitely consider.

    Have a great one!

  17. Bit of a long shot but saw Tom Clarke supporting OCS at Xmas and he said The Enemy are touring later this year. Just had a look and they are doing dates in Sept so if they are saying local bands are supporting Libs they might be a shout? I liked them but was never a massive fan but he was actually really good.

Might have considered this but at Bearded Theory that weekend...and £110 + bf seems very steep for that line up...not much less than I paid for Bearded and thats for 4 days and a much bigger bill and includes camping.

    Sadly, think it might struggle.

Hate to say it but think this was on the cards...I actually liked the line up but seemed very expensive, especially as no camping. Shame.
