  1. Can see the uk festivals conforming next (as in 2010 <_< ) time this comes round. With the way the economy is people are going to be a lot more vigilant with their cash, and the uk festival market's tradition of price hike + capacity hike = win win (for them) isn't going to wash when people realise how many festivals there are in europe, and even with the pound being shit they can go to a festival abroad for the same price inc travel (Having done both i'd argue they're roughly the same price, especially as the major uk fests are now charging £6 for shit on a plate on near enough £4 for a pint of gaymers!
  2. More greed over nesscesity id say, isn't a bit of a coincidence that the hateful feud between coxon and albarn is miracously settled at a time reunions are making absolute millions for the bands in question.

Its a blatent money grabber, and v will doubtlessly chuck the money at them, which is why luckysalt is spot on when he says about an 80% chance of them playing.

  3. Absolutely...remember the year we had Franz Ferdinand followed by the Scissor Sisters...both good bands, but your top two acts on the nights should have more than a two album back catalogue between them...

  4. Neil Young, Springsteen, Macca, White Stripes, REM, Green Day, Pearl Jam, Smashing Pumpkins, The Who, The Police, The Rolling Stones & Prince to name a few off the top of my head...fair enough REM did a few last year but until then they hadn't done much for a while. It seems like The Chili's, The Foos, Kaisers, Killers, Arctics et al have had the monopoly on the UK festival circuit for ages, Jay-Z got so much publicity & it paid off, massively.

Knowing what a smart businessman he is I wouldn't be surprised if Jay-Z didn't approach the rest of the UK festivals straight after Glastonbury & throw his name in the ring for 2009 with Beyonce playing below him, he's back in the summer for the shows with Coldplay.

  5. Thing is, there isn't. There's loads of bands that could headline, it just seems that UK festivals are that unimaginative there seems to be 8 bands that headline everything....just mix things up a bit for f**ks sake, I want a festival headliner to be an act I wouldn't normally get a chance of seeing, something special, not someone like the Killers, Kaisers or Arctics who if I wanted to could've seen a dozen times over the last 3 years at various Academy's, Apollo's or Arena's around the country.
  6. 'Yeah, to be fair...he probably is. How badly did he come across in 'Live Forever'?? Shame...'cause I quite like them. Hopefully Coxon will rein him in a little. '

Oh I love them, very much so, it's just that Damon is a pretentious prick sometimes.

  7. Or maybe they've got good support lined up?

And remember there's far more members looking for equal shares than with your average band, even without JD. They're all not going to do it for nothing. Money's never been a high priority, but like all bands nowadays who reform they'll not go into debt just to play.

  8. TBH Damon is that much of a plank, but he's kept his good looks, so I'll let him off.

Yeah, to be fair...he probably is. How badly did he come across in 'Live Forever'?? Shame...'cause I quite like them. Hopefully Coxon will rein him in a little.

Give us the T'Arctics though and I'll be as happy as a pig in the proverbial!

Air hostess, I like the way you dress..............

  9. Bit of a Specials fan here. Doubt very much that they would play V. If they do any big festivals this year it'll be Glasto, T, and Reading/Leeds. Covers all the bases. They wont want be tied playing V. I'd expect them to do a couple of small ones as well. Bestival, The Wickerman, places like that.

It was never about money with The Specials, by the time money was split between them all they never realy made that much considering they were the most popular band in the UK around 1978-79. So V could throw money at them and they'd still say no. I would hate it for them to play a main stage and get a 3/4 hour slot, go see them in a hall. If they're anything like they used to be live, they'll put all modern day bands to shame.

  10. ...reformed with the original line-up (except for Jerry Dammers) for a tour next year. Big enough for a decent slot?? JJB or Channel 4 2nd headliners maybe?? ''Message To You Rudy'', ''Too Much Too Young''...I won't even mention ''Ghost Town''...oops...

  11. I would love Arcade Fire headlining the JJB

Wonder if V will be able to get Orbital to play as they're reforming for their 20th anniversary next year, playing Big Chill the weekend before V, leaves it wide open for them to play, especially as they've played V quite a bit in the past, think its a possibility

If V get Arcade Fire and Orbital headline each day in the JJB then the other stages can go f**k themselves

  12. Think they were more interested in trying to catch people smuggling in chairs so they didn't have to sit in 2 foot of mud, or booze or food so they didn't upset the sponsors (I counted 18 sponsors this year). Don't really expect any serious searches for drugs until they're legalised and they risk offending somebody who's spent a fortune for a pitch.
