Restarted. 2004-2007 sold as fast as they were capable of selling the tickets at the time. As has 2011 onwards.

Anyone who wanted them and made an effort could have had tickets for 2008-2010 though.

Thank god someone actually remembers. All those ticket sales blur into one F5 panic for me!

Weren't they shitting themselves in 2008 because there were still tickets left only a couple of weeks before the festival opened it's gates?

The immediate sellout started in the 2010's

Yep. I think it sold out fairly quickly the year before from memory - a few hours - but then in 2008 took a while. Ppl blamed Jay Z headlining but not sure that made sense as ticket day was in October. 2008 was a cracking year though! 2005 (was 6 a fallow year? Or do I mean 2006??) was a few weeks from memory.

La Cl of taps and soap or sanitiser at any of the toilets it’s a disgrace. The accessible toilets included all the attendants at the accessible toilets have apologised about the state of them and I’ve send them in different fields,

Where abouts is this? Obviously we all have very different paths through the festival but I have found the opposite - never been in a dirty toilet yet which has blown my mind, and always had sanitiser stocked. Wild how different we can experience things isn't it!

    Hi all,

Obtaining tickets for tye Glastonbury Festival has always been notoriously difficult but I've known people be successful every time at obtaining tickets whereas I've failed to manage to get tickets since I first tried in 1999.

Is there a secret to increasing your chances of obtaining tickets?

I've tried getting friends and family to apply for tickets at the same time to better my chances but this method has never worked to date.

Any tips would be much appreciated as I'm bewildered as to how many people know seem to bag tickets every time the festival comes along!

Just in case anyone asks, these friends are getting tickets for another group of friends, so yes I've tried to see if they could get me one too but they are always already accounted for.

Thanks in advance for any tips!

In 1999 you walked into HMV and bought a ticket over the counter. It didn't start online sales til the 00s and it didn't start selling out immediately til the middle of the 00s at that??

I was at both of those and the camping fields were so packed that people were literally pitching tents in ditches. there is more camping space now.
Some of the paths and crossing points felt equally crowded and risky then & now, but last year it felt like all of them were

…….and the stages were nowhere near as busy in 99/2002 as they were last year.

I was at both 1999 and 2000. I agree - don't think they have any comparison.

Got to say I don't think I agree on the crowding. Yes - on the places there are things on its been busy. Went to see London Paranoid expecting half a crowd and it was rammed, on The Levels. But at the same time at least 5 other places were rammed too which is a big improvement on previous years where only one thing was on and suddenly everyone on site cared about seeing The Levellers.

I wandered from Campervan East round Pyramid to the Levels, up to West Holts, round Glade up to the Park then home via South East and T&C - was busy but didnt see any crushes.

We have Block9 crew tickets and have been sent a short stay vehicle pass. Does anyone know if there is a drop off and unload area for the Block9/crew camping or do you just park with everyone else and haul your stuff over?

    Thanks in advance!

Block9 crew have their own camping area right by Block 9 - it's dead nice, one of the best bits of backstage camping back there. Normally with a short stay pass, you'll be able to come in to offload anywhere within that area and then you drive your car back out and park up in one of the car parks. You'll come in at Orchard Gate usually?

Ok, here you go 🙂 There'll be an extra flag this year...having one made depicting my hat so that friends can find me in the CV fields 😄

Fab - what a lovely setup! We'll be in a our space themed campervan so not hard to miss if we're nearby. I had my first "you know what, if we got a cheap caravan for next year we could tow it AND have the van!" conversation last week, so I don't think it's long before we're in the market.

That's right, it usually is. Was just a bit confused when the Seetickets Order Tracker said that CV tickets weren't dispatched by them! I was glad to see it in the same envelope! 😄

This was my minor panic too. Ours have arrived but no one was in to get them so hopefully tomorrow we can instead panic about losing them!

If you bought the Sticklinch car park pass separately to your G ticket (i.e. when you booked your tent), then it will be sent separately. Worthy View car park passes normally arrive the week before.

Is this the same for campervan tickets? Not long now!!

This was my thinking about ten years ago. Having previously borrowed or rented caravans and motorhomes I thought it would make sense to buy a cheap van and sell it on straight after the festival. I originally planned to spend about 600 quid on one, but then I thought if I spent a bit more it would be easier to sell on. I finally got a caravan for a grand...I liked it so much that I ended up keeping it and it's been to every Glastonbury since!! 😄

    Photos!!

  12. We have our tickets but count me in to help! Fond memories of the year (I think it must have been 2008) where I ended up with friends of friends of friends calling me up to get their tickets and just flinging card details at me. I didn't pay for a spicy cider on Weds and I dont remember much past 2pm!!

Yes I followed it up with them on arrival home, emails went back and forth and in the end they practically begged me to volunteer again but I have a ticket this year so I am taking the easy route! I also cancelled my place at Boardmasters and got my whole deposit back as I was cancelling because of their ineptitude not because I had changed my mind. Physically I couldn't have coped with the same again 6 weeks later. They actually tried to charge me a cancellation fee!

The vehicle gate incident was in 2018 (and my 4th time volunteering for them) and I ended up with Matt (who was the Oxfam festival manager at Beautiful Days that year) visiting me in our caravan once I had recovered from a Menieres attack. This was brought on by the stressful location thay had placed me in, and it occured on shift, my husband/PA was my shift partner and he had to practically beg for transportation back to Oxfield for me, he was allowed to go with me but they were insistent he had to return to his post. He vowed to never again volunteer for such an uncaring organisation. I ended up getting my next shifts moved by Matt to a night on the disabled platform and tabard return as I steadfastly refused to do a vehicle gate. And yes I had reasonable adjustments in place.

I am a severely deaf, have Ménière's Disease and I have poor mobility due to osteoarthritis in both knees. I also qualify for a PA/Carer but my husband chose to volunteer beside me instead until this incident.

Knowing how bad it can be if things go wrong I gave them chapter and verse prior to Glastonbury on what happened at Beautiful days, I stipulated my needs very thoroughly ie I struggle with early starts and can't do overnight shifts so asked for shifts after 8am ending before midnight. I spoke on the phone with the lady arranging my reasonable adjustments and agreed with them via email once I was satisfied they were correct. My husband was attending as my PA/Carer. You have to actually sign an agreement that your PA/Carer will undertake your shift if you are not able to. What a nice and caring charity, not!

I was utterly appalled to get my shifts only one took into account my reasonable adjustments. I had been given two shifts in Oxfield with a 6am start! This would mean getting up at 4am at the latest as I was staying in Spring Ground Accessible campsite not Oxfield. I called the lady who had agreed to my reasonable adjustments, it went to voicemail and I heard back from her post festival. I then called Oxbox to ask to change them and was told by a very passive aggressive person in Oxbox (who patronisingly said she knew everything about Ménière's Disease, wow even my specialist doesn't!) that I couldn't change them. Saturday morning 5am I had a Ménière's attack brought on by stress. My husband/PA called in sick on my behalf. They asked him to come and do my shift, he refused as he didn't feel it was safe to leave me. The final shift was Monday, I have mobility issues and had to return my hired mobility scooter the previous night. I had absolutely no way of getting there and barely slept after having been told to ring at 5am to arrange transport. This never happened as on getting up at 4am another Meniere's attack occurred, these continued for 2 weeks as they often come in clusters when under stress. Again my husband called in sick for me and refused to leave me.

An hour prior to the one shift I completed at Glastonbury I received a call from Oxbox asking me to go there to sign in pre shift, I explained I was in Spring Ground a good 30 minutes each way away even on a mobility scooter. Again I was met with hostility saying I had to sign in which I honestly don't expect or deserve from what at the end of the day is a fellow volunteer steward. Sadly many get a shift in Oxbox and think they are in charge. I explained my shift was close to where we were staying in Spring Ground (Accessible arrivals tent) and I couldn't go on my shift on time if I came to sign in at Oxbox. In the end we  never saw a supervisor all shift and my shift partner had been given our time sheet!

I'm just so sorry to hear all that! I have nothing constructive to add beyond being appalled for you!!!

It can be around 8 am, however if you arrive and it isn't open there is no option to queue or park up as this isn't allowed. You will be moved on. Watch this forum for a heads up that they are open.

Closeness to gate C is dependent on which campervan pass you have. All the quiet ones are fairly near, the normal ones can be a bit of a hike!

Thank you that's super useful. I messed that one up as well because quiet would have suited us perfectly I just didn't pay enough attention before buying! I'm quite relaxed about the journey down AND i'm the driver so they'll have to go at my pace. One of our group has already suggested skipping Gloucester Services to get on site quicker, which might lead to excommunication from the convoy!!!

  15. What time do the campervan gates open on the Tuesday? We are going to travel down nice and early to take our time on the pootle to site, but we would be keen to get as close to gate C as possible. Officially it's midday right?

Plenty of male musicians get hit with the label. Ed Sheeran, Justin Bieber, One Direction, Lewis Capaldi, Sam Fender, and plenty of rappers too. Any artist that makes it big rather quickly.

However, female pop singers do tend to find huge success quicker than most other kinds of artists tend to do. regardless of gender and/or genre. It'd be wilfully naive to claim that the likes of Billie Eilish, Ariana Grande, Dua Lipa, et al have had to work as hard as other artists to hit the big time.

I don't think that's quite true, certainly not about it being due to being women pop stars. Dua Lipa's trajectory isn't vastly different from successful bands - agent, demos, label then 3 years til the album. The other two had industry parents/a TV career respectively so different routes again.

Not many alternative routes to the DL one available to mainstream musicians nowadays
