  1. Saying that the lineup is awful is a bit of an exaggeration and at least there is nothing on the level of Calvin Harris or Maneskin this year, but I do see where you are coming from, it's definitely lacking a bit as there no interesting Japanese/Korean, Latin etc. artists, it would have been nice to have some more unexpected names.. It's still a solid lineup for me, even if not amazing by Primavera standards. Curious to see the ciutat names, there might be some good additions there
  2. I love Paramore's last two LPs and would totally go see them if they headlined, they would be a much better booking than Calvin/Maneskin
  3. I love Lana but after her Glasto set I hope we will not get her, I prefer artists who show up on time and actually put some effort into their performance, she looked like she did not want to be there, I think she just doesn't like performing live (or she might have other issues, but in that case she shouldn't accept to play such big festivals)
  4. Are there any indications that MBV are releasing a new album? They are pretty much predicted every year but there are no news that they are working on new music or have any intentions to tour, I would not hope for anything unless it's actually confirmed. NIN also don't seem to have plans to tour in the near future based on that recent Trent Reznor interview ("he’s more interested in composing film scores than he is writing and touring behind traditional albums"). PJ Harvey, Pulp and The Cure seem more realistic predictions, but I would not get my hopes up that we will get any of MBV/NIN/Portishead/[insert band's name that is predicted every year but never actually tours]...
  5. Damn, anyone knows why Kelela started late? I felt a bit sorry for her when they shut her down because Måneskin had to start (Man this Måneskin set is awkward, there are the fangirls in the first few rows, then the classic Primavera audience that doesn't know what to make of it)
  6. Now I really think I should have left Caroline to see them instead... Love Caroline but she should have played on another stage, between people chatting and/or camping out for Rosalia I found the set somewhat underwhelming, it would have worked much better on Cupra or Roy Brugal 😕
  7. It is very strange indeed, Rosalia plays in that time slot, I would not appreciate if they created another clash. If they want to add a surprise set, I'd prefer it would be during Calvin/Maneskin...
  8. I skipped both Fred and Yves Tumor just to be able to catch Kyary's set, I can say that it was absolutely well worth it, easily the most entertaining show I have ever seen at Primavera!
  9. Just checking in to say that Alvvays was a top 3 set of the weekend for me, crowd was great as well
  10. I did! It was awesome, the singer asked people to stand up when the set started, half of the people went to stand in front of the stage, this was the first time that I saw a band ask the audience to not remain seated in the Auditori! Pretty sure this gave a bit of a headache to the security guys lol.
  11. Stellar day so far, everything I've seen has been great, I've just arrived to the Dice stage to see Machine Girl and passed by the Boiler Room, there's an insanely long queue, really strange to see so many people waiting for hours there (I guess the organizers will have to think about another solution next year as the stage is still not big enough)
  12. What is this exactly? Four Tet, Fred again, Skrillex DJ set maybe?
  13. Arthur Verocai, Tems and Bleachers cancelled The Wedding Present (Ron Brugal stage) and Goat Girl (Plenitude) will play on Friday
  14. I don't think this is the case, you just happen to be on a forum where people are passionate about music and listen to many different genres and artists, including obscure bands from around the world. Primavera is such a beloved festival because the lineup offers a great depth, you can always discover something new and interesting that you didn't know about before. It is completely fine if something is not your thing or if you simply don't care that much about listening to lesser known indie bands, but I don't see why it's a problem if someone is more excited to see a small band than a headliner? Not every artist can play on the main stage after 8 pm and that doesn't say anything about the quality of their music ( for example John Cale will play at 19:30 and he is hardly an unknown "neon toaster". To be honest at least half of my most anticipated acts are on between 17:00 and 21:00, and most of them aren't even all that obscure)
  15. I'm surprised to see you recommend them this much, their 2019 Primavera set was easily the worst show I saw at the festival that year, they sounded terrible and seemed like they didn't even want to be there. Even the guys standing next to me in Built to Spill t-shirts were bored and left halfway through the set... :'D Well Idk maybe their new tour is better? I don't really feel like seeing them again though, I think I'm opting for Yard Act and Sudan Archives in that time slot so that's what I recommend 😄
  16. Anyone else having issues with activating their ticket? When I click on "activate ticket" in the Dice app it does not take me to AccessTIcket, I only get a blank screen. Should I contact the AccessTicket support?
  17. This is quite possibly the most questionable choice ever, I can take most of the clashes but man, this is just a really poor decision on all fronts. I'm thinking about skipping Rosalia, as much as I wanted to see her I just don't think I'm willing to wait two hours at midnight on Sunday...
  18. This is also the reason why it feels like the organizers just look at a random Spotify playlist and choose randomly which artists to book for the festival, tickets will sell anyway because of "the vibe" even if they put zero effort into the lineup... Don't get me wrong, I had a good time when I was there last time, but it's still supposed to be a music festival and if you're charging that much for the tickets, one could expect a lineup that is a little bit more inspired, there's so much potential wasted, especially if you're a local like me (a lot of artists avoid touring around here and Sziget would be the perfect opportunity to book many trending, interesting artists, but no... we need to have Macklemore and David Guetta :/)
  19. There is absolutely nothing surprising about Boygenius not being on the lineup, they are completely unknown in Hungary and probably the organizers don't know them either, we are at least a decade behind the rest of Europe here and the line-up reflects that perfectly every year.
  20. Spotify listens mean absolutely nothing in this case, Depeche Mode has 9.5m listeners, Halsey 40m, does that mean that Halsey will attract a bigger crowd than DM at Primavera? I have my doubts about that... No one is saying that lesser known artists are unworthy, if anything, I think many of us here listen to plenty of obscure bands and have also discovered artists thanks to Primavera, but we are talking about a headliner here. I think it's normal to discuss some of the questionable line-up choices this year, the line-up was just announced after all, and there's a reason if there are more negative comments than ususal. I'm a big fan of the festival and I'm sad that I'm not as excited as usual after a line-up announcement, MeMeMeM's comment above is accurate and expressed the same concerns I have.
  21. Idk, Ghost might be pretty big in their genre, but I just don't really see them as a headliner for Primavera. I absolutely agree that NxWorries is a great booking and I have been waiting to see Anderson .Paak since forever, I was not judging the music, my point was that basically none of the names on the second line are big enough to be considered a headliner. I love Darkside (them and NxWorries are among the few Thursday names that I would love to see), but I'm surprised to see them billed that high, I didn't think they were that popular, the whole line-up looks like a mess to me somehow... Ah well, good for you, I wish it was the same for me. I do think there's quality in the undercard, but most of the headliners and second line names are underwhelming, also many of the artists that I like I have already seen at Primavera (or elsewhere). I still haven't decided if I should go or not, with the cost of accomodation and everything I'm not sure if it's worth it just to see a dozen small bands 😕
  22. Sure, I don't really like what I have heard from her, but that wasn't my argument and it's not about my personal preferences (I couldn't care less for Kendrick Lamar but I would obviously never question why he is a headliner), Halsey is objectively a small name in Europe, she doesn't have a dedicated fanbase and/or hit singles like Lorde or Carly Rae Jepsen, it's just really odd to see her headlining. You have a point with Jorja Smith, but the difference is that Nick Cave, Gorillaz and Tyler were also headlining on the same day, I would argue that the 2022 W1 Saturday was one of the most stacked line-ups ever in Primavera history, the 2023 Thursday line-up is pretty weak in comparison. Halsey headlining would be less of an issue it it if there was a third headliner and some more prominent mid-sized names, but right now that isn't the situation. 2023 Thursday main stage: Blur, Halsey and... NxWorries? Loyle Carner? Central Cee? 2022 W1 Saturday main stage: Einstürzende Neubauten, Jorja Smith, Nick Cave, Gorillaz, Tyler Not really comparable, imo. Don't get me wrong, I'd be fine with having a less stacked lineup after the 2022 edition, but I still feel that 2023 is lackluster by Primavera standards.
  23. She might have had 3 multi-platinum albums, but I had honestly never heard any of her songs before I checked her out on Spotify a few days ago, I have barely seen her name mentioned anywhere, she doesn't have a recognizable hit song, she is not hyped in any way, at least not here in Europe. I just don't really understand how she is a headliner at a festival like Primavera, are there truly people who will buy tickets to the festival because Halsey is headlining? Am I missing something? I'm listening to her latest album now and I find it extremely boring, her singing is grating and there's nothing interesting about her music... Then again, I never really cared for the headliners at Primavera, the mid-sized names and the incredible undercard have always been what made the festival interesting for me, but I just don't really understand the 2023 line-up and how they chose the headliners, Halsey and Calvin Harris are easily the worst headliners in the history of Primavera (yes, even worse than J Balvin)
  24. Underwhelming line up, I'm trying to study the undercard to find some hidden gems but at the moment I feel like I should not have bought the ticket before the line up release, there are not nearly enough interesting names for me that would justify spending hundreds of euros on travel + accomodation 😞 I felt slightly disappointed at first when the 2019 line up came out but I slowly warmed up to that one because there were some artists I was really excited to see, it also felt fresh and different from other festivals, unfortunately that's not something I can say about the 2023 line up... It's possible that many artists will not be touring next year and this is the best they could come up with, but some of these names I would expect to see at Sziget and not Primavera (Halsey, Calvin Harris, Skrillex, Maneskin 😕). It's also bothering me a bit that there are too many repeats from the 2019 and 2022 line ups, it doesn't feel as fresh, forward-thinking and well-curated as the previous editions, or at least that's how I feel at the moment (I'm afraid I'll skip this edition and will try selling my ticket). I really wonder how this will sell, Depeche Mode and Kendrick are huge names, but I just don't see people buying a ticket because of Halsey or Calvin Harris (or maybe I'm out of touch with reality here)
  25. Nah, pretty sure they will drop the line-up in December or January, just like every year before the pandemic
