  1. two Brixton replacements: Pvris and Caroline Polachek have done straight swaps to the Eventim Apollo. think it will be a matter of if a sold-out show can be moved to the Apollo on the same day, it will. if the show is not sold out, it might move to a smaller venue (maybe O2 Academy’s) thinking selfishly, I’ve got tickets for Pendulum and the thought of seeing them at the Apollo just doesn’t have the same ring as seeing them at Brixton. but I’d prefer it to Ally Pally
  2. Couldn’t agree more! Given there has been an ongoing conversation for years it seems about where the next stadium rock band is (as it turns out, Sam Fender), it is great that at least stadium gigs are seen as a step-up worth making as an artist. It does make me wonder though that the only (recent) artists big enough to do stadiums are solo acts - Wizkid, Burna Boy. The Weeknd, Harry Styles and Fender too. the only bands doing stadiums (for the first time) recently are K-Pop acts
  3. All Brixton Academy gigs for the next three months are under threat as their license has been suspended. They’ve already moved a couple to Eventim Apollo. Pendulum at the Apollo will make for a great BBC4 documentary
  4. just noticed there’s not a thread for this. always been tempted to make the trek to this festival. Friday 1st - Saturday 2nd July a line-up announcement must be due as Knucks has self-confirmed on his website. listed down as Friday but don’t know if that’s a default thing being the first date
  5. just saw some videos - madness!! not unlike the Wizkid O2 drama last year. the demand is no joke - my timeline was full on Asake ticket sale day with people miffed they missed out on tix for his second extra date! seems like a write-off, tonight sidebar: that new Asake album is great if stuff like Afrobeats appeals to you. very good time
  6. Completely with you on that. a brilliant show, and their new record is a stand out for this year imo. thought Brixton would’ve been intimate for them when it was announced but don’t think it even sold out. Ally Pally, then Brixton. hard to work out quite how big Phoenix are now. still do well on the european festival circuit - just really hope they keep doing their thing for years
  7. Alvvays added a second show at O2 Forum Kentish Town, Thursday 25th May. tickets on sale tomorrow 10am
  8. jees and it’s €60 a ticket! like seeing Blur at Wembley Arena
  9. oh definitely. don’t get me wrong, that’s £40 out of my bank account! my glasses rest at about a 20^ angle after their set at APE. certainly one of my fav gig experiences seeing them at the roundhouse as well
  10. £40 for a Turnstile ticket? game’s gone
  11. I have found they have one of the most thorough/present security arrangements of London venues tbh. and they post a fair bit about the bag policy which to me suggests they enforce it at shows, but i’ve never entered with bags so can’t speak from experience. they do have cloakrooms though (free on O2 Priority, I think) so if you can make a passionate plea to head straight to the cloakroom, that might work. hope it works out for you!
  12. same here! very excited for this one. almost went for the big bucks ones but settled for the £55 rear stalls standing option - still expensive but slightly more digestible. regardless this is a gig many years in the making for me
  13. Samuel T Herring will give more energy and passion than all other performers on that stage that Noel G day. is just an odd booking to have them there in the first place
  14. “i said oooh, i’m blinded by that light”
  15. The Weeknd tour announcement tomorrow. unclear if it is just a second leg for his US stint or something more exciting
  16. Damien Rice announcing new music and new tour dates. Tour news on friday. could pack out the Park
  17. so it looks like we might be getting some live dates from SAULT. a serious contender for most anticipated tour of 22/23. and a guaranteed WH headliner next year surely
  18. and a 2am on the Hell Stage for a smidge more chaos
  19. quite surprised to see Redcar headline tbf. I know he’s headlined sizeable festivals in the past but this new album has come and gone without much public spectacle - certainly compared to the first two records. wouldn’t say Redcar is Burna Boy-big atm, for example. I’m a fan, fwiw! I wonder if the Mike Dean-produced album next year is going to cause any chart interference
  20. Fever Ray announced their EU and US tour dates yesterday. quite surprised to see there aren’t any UK shows so far. they only did Troxy last time round (iirc) so probably not big enough to do a full UK tour and it’s not like they’d be booked by something like APE as an exclusive. would love to see them pop up somewhere, that’s all! also a good West Holts kinda booking
  21. looks like Iggy Pop is doing South Facing Festival with Blondie and Generation Sex on July 1st, according to O2 Priority
  22. 23 consecutive monthly gigs (currently) at the O2 for Peter Kay. basically the British Billy Joel. heard he ends each show with a full album performance of The Stranger
