Perfect.
In 10 years time people are going to look back on the popularity of Grime in the same way we now look at Nu-Rave.
Too Many Man, Rolex, Jus a Rascal, more big grime crossover hits are getting on ten years old btw

D Double E isn't in BBK.
Anyway, they'll be really good and they'll attract a big crowd. The kids are mad for it at the moment.
Huh, always thought he was, thanks. Is Jammer? Thought they both were

I thought Alt J could only play the Saturday night and top of the Other is pretty much where they're likely to wind up.
You're not wrong, which is why there's so much discussion on a few threads

WHO
Boy Better Know is a grime collective/label. Skepta, Wiley, JME, D Double E, plus more. It's not always a guarantee who'll perform but given the slot I'd imagine Skepta and Wiley will

Any reason why folk are ruling out the Sunday night?
There was previous information that Saturday Other was "hip-hoppy". I think for the purposes of discussion it's easier to include grime under hip-hop so not to confuse people who aren't fans of it

Wasn't Neil's info always that BBK know were headlining Saturday? Or did we just choose to not believe that?
I think it was that Wiley was headlining Other, which then led to lots of discussion about would BBK headline or was the info bad.
Think Stormzy & Skepta/BBK being on Saturday was seperate info but fits with the first

That's not what I was saying. I meant she's a big pop name that's bound to be on the Pyramid because she's a Radio 2 darling. Debating whether Sandé on the decline is more widely appealing than Lorde on the rise is just not in the realm of what I go on the internet for.
Lorde is a big pop name that's bound to be on the pyramid because she's a Radio 1 darling

No I don't think they are either. And Other sub is couple of slots higher than I would have expected her before the poster came out but that's just how it looks to me.
If they have Katy Perry, Ed Sheeran and Emeli Sandé taking real estate on the Pyramid, they're hardly gonna be scrabbling around for that lass off Royals to sell the show to the people at home.
I'm not at all convinced that Emeli Sandé is a bigger pull than Lorde, especially when the latter will be fresh off the back of a new album.

That's most political songwriting to be fair.
Yeah, agreed.
Perhaps he's been criticised for it more than his peers, but I'm not sure the criticism is invalid, whether it's aimed at him, at groups like Rise Against and Enter Shikari (much worse for it imo), or someone like Kate Tempest (at times she's quite clever with it, other times just as blunt) or anyone else.
I guess when you put yourself on a pedestal with opinions like that, especially within the realms of "punk", you open yourself up to criticism of said opinions and stances

I think he's a super smart guy and the point he makes in the article you referenced is spot on, he's been misinterpreted, wilfully at times by people who are just itching to have a go at somebody / anybody. I honestly think he's one of the good guys.
I'm not so sure there's that much to it. He's written politically negative songs at both (main) teams (Thatcher Fucked The Kids, called the left "idiot fucking hippies" on Love, Ire and Song) without actually providing any valuable political discussion.
His music might be a useful tool getting people more politically involved, but he doesn't really contribute further than "here's why you're wrong" and over-sentimental idealism without substance

Where are we thinking DJ Shadow will play? Park? JP or WH sub? Silver Hayes? Glade? He's a hard one to place.
Last year I saw him at bluedot and it looked like he took a smaller slot so that he would be in a tent for the visual elements. Not sure if he'll be doing a similar thing this time, mind

I reckon the kooky lads, The Kooks might do it, just announced *shudder* a best of album
To be fair, The Kooks are pioneers.
Theyre really pushing the limits of what could be considered "greatest hits"

I think you've misunderstood?
Beck generally wasn't considered big enough to sub the Pyramid until the times came out last year. The Lips are about as big as Beck, so it's unlikely but not impossible.
It was a joke, apparently not a good one. Don't mind me x

Fwiw Joe Goddard is in Hot Chip, and arguably the backbone. So that's possibly why they're on there (see also The 2 Bears, if they're on the list)
-
Major Lazer x2 - really good fun, not particularly a fan of their stuff on record but a great live act and crowd always into it
alt-j x2 - if you're a fan they're brilliant, sound is spot on. Not much crowd interaction and probably won't convert non-believers
BBK (members, and part of Skepta's bestival set) - if you like grime, obviously see this
Laura Marling - wonderful and incredibly engaging live
Haim - about as ok as they are on record
Father John Misty - brilliant, hope the new album is as good as honeybear
Metronomy - really cool, they did some of the older instrumental jams when I saw them (English Riviera time), hope they still do
Kate Tempest - fantastic, lights and music spot on for her poetry
Glass Animals - perfect sound compared to record, brilliant stage presence too
DJ Shadow - really wicked, visuals are a great element to the show as well
Craig David - has a great voice, mills the extended vocal outros a bit too much
British Sea Power - haven't listened to them on record but they were great live
Loyle Carner - was good, had stage presence and pulled off a big set at bestival considering his album wasn't out
Ed Sheeran x4 (not since 2010) - local hero, great live either with band or loop pedals. Had the crowd in the palm of his hand, even at support and festival slots

Well Beck isn't going to headline the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury 2017, so congrats on the clairvoyance

Surely it's the XX before Radiohead, they're already subbing them in Coachella I think and it just wouldn't work, like PEndulum in to Beyonce a few years back. Totally makes sense to keep the pop vibes going between Perry into Ed and the rock vibes from the XX into Yorko and the lads
The xx don't really have rock vibes, but they are a good fit before Radiohead

Did not say it is pants mate, just not my thing. It is the total opposite of things I generally like. I can appreciate they are talented musicians. Yet it was a little too one paced and very little in the way of hooks and melodies.
If I am going to listen to darker type stuff I like it with a little grunt. Stuff like Depeche Mode's - Songs of faith and Devotion and Puressence - Only Forever. Both darker and atmospheric type albums but both full of real emotion.
If you feel like you want to give them another try, listen to Abel or Mr November from the album Alligator.
For the longest time I didn't like the National, except for Abel. It was the one song that stood out above what I thought was a one-dimensional band. Their music for the most part is a slow grower imo
