    Holy fuck. RIP.

So glad we got ZZ at Glastonbury (something I still think was due to an eFests campaign) and they put on an absolute party. Special afternoon that.

Their documentary is on Netflix UK for anyone feeling like it. Legendary band with a great story.

Will definitely give that a view . Really enjoyed their afternoon set back in 2016

I was at a friend's funeral about 15 years ago and as we were carrying the coffin down the aisle I realised they had Celine fucking Dion belting out. Sad state of affairs when all you can think of during a mates funeral is what a shit choice of music. Been pretty obsessed with the music choice at my funeral since though I've probably told 20 friends 20 different songs over the years so not sure which will win. Won't be an issue for me by then anyway I suppose.

I've heard a few remember a friends funeral another celion song and thinking same as you I assume his wife picked it .

I vary my funeral songs but haven't said anything to family yet but do have it written down for them .

One song for my mates and family one for my kids and one for my wife all have meaning for me and all say something to them .

These aren't necessarily my fave songs but they are all very high up in my top songs

It will always be this for me, for me (personally) the most important song of the last 50 years. Started being obsessed listening to it on a tape recorder in 1977ish, have been playing it ever since, still play it loads 40 years later. Still sounds fresh and brilliant now in my opinion, these boys moved electronic music to the masses and inspired so many electronic artists from the 80s to now Superb song, absolute legends, 20 minutes of bliss

.. Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd comes second

Just a great great track always the full album version just perfect to listen to alone . Like you been with me since I first discovered kraftwerk late 70s

  4. I wasn't aware of this till today I've offered my strong thoughts on health inequalities as someone closing in on 60 and also living in an area that suffers highly from social deprevation and lower life expectancy .

People over 60 are to be charged for prescriptions up to age 66 .

Sorry can't get link to work but just search for it .

    Ellie Goulding 2016

I've seen artists that I wouldn't normally see just because it's a festival but stood through this as it was Sunday late if memory serves me right ...but God it was a dull dull set and no crowd engagement

I keep reading this thread expecting someone to have the same opinion as me, but it looks like I might be wrong, Bob Dylan might actually be half decent!

I'm yet to hear anything by him that I like though!

(No need to down vote me, this isn't the shit thread and it's only my opinion 😘)

I'm not sure if it belongs in the most controversial music opinions but with you I've never got Bob Dylan and I respect his iconic status in music history but just not for me .

  7. Really interesting debate throws up more and more questions.

I worked day at home pre pandemic now 2 or 3 days at home every week . Don't see that changing . My team been in probably 1 or 2 days a fortnight as useful for some functions .

My wife has wfh whole time and changed jobs in September 20 has found lack of support a real problem and can't wait to go back to office .

The thought of closing expensive office bases in places like London is obviously a huge incentive for loads of private companies but as said earlier if staff work from outside boundaries will companies suddenly start reducing salaries I think many will

I'm just going to have to deal with it unfortunately 😞

The bit in bold - It's going to be interesting to see what happens as some roles can work remotely but others can't (DC, store workers)... so I think our company will leave it to the decision of the line managers on whether role can be done from home and this is what will be the issue...

Both my line manager and her manager are bums on seats to be effective, with my line manager being a bit of a tech phobe as well!!

Most of my day is basically read/approve reports all day, sending comments or asking the question on teams. I'm now getting more involved in projects which means talking to more folk and whilst face to face meetings are okay sometimes they are not 100% necessary to get the job done if you have the right tech - my last job was working with loads of people who were not in my office so whilst I did go into the office, the people I mainly worked with I spoke over Skype and whatnot

Where I am now feels like I've stepped back 10 years, christ I'm using remote desktop with my own laptop ffs - not even been issued work laptop 😞

It's difficult conundrum some of my team were wfh most of the time others were thrown into it and we've had same issues sourcing appropriate kit . Massive initial problems with Skype teams etc but Miles better now .

I would say vast majority of staff more effective wfh but do benefit from odd day seeing those they work closest with .hope it goes OK

We had teams meeting today and sound keep cutting out and others couldn't see share screen as on phone rather than laptop... so big boss is like right we need a face to face for 4 hours next week to thrash out - god knows why 4 hrs

I said I wasn't comfortable but it was you'll be fine as office quiet, we'll wear masks etc. basically you could not say no 😞

I suppose I've got to dip toe in eventually but I just wasn't mentally ready for it now that's all

the other throw away comment was well I didn't want to hear you don't want to come in just cos you like WFH mmmmh so that's interesting on what his take is on WFH v being in office, I've said before they are very bum on seat mentality and I'm not sure that stance will actually change

I think it's tougher for those who haven't been in I've been in 2 or 3 days for whole time and have always felt safe as numbers in from each team r minimal and measures in place have been very effective.

I have team members who r gradually dipping their toe in coming back in odd day and they have all been fine once they get in.

I can't see anything other than a hybrid of office and home going forward for us . With the majority of time spent at home as its worked effectively

The only way you'll get me there is if you give me a pair of noise cancelling headphones & a dozen rotten eggs to chuck at them! 😄

Even that wouldn't be enough i wouldn't watch them if they were in my garden and you gave me free beer and pizza as you say tax dodging c**ts.  Can't think of many people I despise more than Barlow

BBC 4 and sky arts have been great over this lockdown.  Nice Robert Plant documentary on recently.

id never thought I would utter this statement in my long lifetime but I’ve seen a bit too much  live football !  Sky sports,BT sports, amazon prime all have  live matches!  There’s been some really dire games broadcast live.

To much football spread across to many days and channels and let's be honest the quality and intensity is dire . Sport just seems flat without crowds .

Watching the cricket in India last few days has been a wholly different experience because of the atmosphere.  But without knowing what the covid situation is in India currently I do worry about the lack of distancing and masks .

  12. I'd say about 2/3 of what the cure played were singles but obviously most none cure fans will only know the bigger hits.  I absolutely loved the set but my wife didn't get the fuss and only knew a couple of hits .

Its not for everyone same as we went along to see Ed sheeran as our daughters have seen him few times and convinced us how good it would be . Despite knowing most of what he sang I look at it as 2 hours of my life ill never get back 🤧

If covid was the other way round and mainly attacked young and healthy people (like Spanish flu did) there is zero chance that a lockdown would fly with the boomers. Let’s remember that the generation who have been hit hardest by covid are those who routinely fuck younger people over at the ballot box every few years and no one bats an eyelid.

Bizarrely me and everyone I know in 50s early 60s are fairly politically engaged and even more Bizarrely we care a lot about the health and future of our adult children

But I might be making a ridiculous sweeping defence of my generation .

  14. Looking forward to listening to this week's suggestions one band totally new to me and another whose album is new . Its a great idea this thread opens up some different musical experiences
