jj200 has had 6 guesses at headliners in this thread, yet you've still managed to make the worst prediction of all. I'm actually impressed.

is there any chance of a mumford return?

Think this might have just topped the Blink 182 shout.

After they shut down the other stages for their headline performance a couple of years ago, I doubt they would be too welcome again this soon!

    Very good they were too!

Probably my highlight of the whole weekend! Especially loved the Oasis stick they were dishing out. Will definitely try and catch them on their tour later this year.

    thanks.

After googling other pics for them I think you're right - tho he looks very different on the majority of other pics (different haircut). The pics of other band members seem to be right for that.

But just to double-check, is anyone else able to confirm? I don't want to put them up under the wrong name.

Can confirm this is Parquet Courts, I watched their set

Are we all getting a bit excited?  Why would they keep bands such as Pearl Jam quiet?  Festival Republic are in this to make money by selling tickets.  Keeping someone as good as them secret doesn't sell tickets.  I think we might be disappointed.

Hopefully I'm wrong, like my wife always says.

Definitely agree. If they had booked Pearl Jam they would have been announced as they wouldn't have a reason to keep them secret.

I'm gonna go with either Liam Gallagher as he has been rumored a fair bit or Iggy Pop as he had an exclusive tag at the Finsbury Park QOTSA gig which would explain why they couldn't announce him. Also both of them played at Finsbury which were run (terribly) by FR so could have easily been written into their agreement.

Do the timings all get announced in a progarmme when you get there, and is it small enough to carry around ?

They tend to drip feed timings from the start of the week, starting with the main stages, however with the new PR company they might be changing things up this year. Hopefully the map will be released soon too.

  6. I've seen it mentioned and I definitely think it was oversold. I was completely overwhelmed by the amount of people. Every direction you looked seemed to be super over crowded, even in areas no where near the stages. Poor show from FR passing the buck like that, I'm sure they will hold their hands up soon enough. The bar situation was just one of a whole bunch of problems.

That aside I really enjoyed the day musically, such a high caliber of acts, even if I did miss Iggy as I was trying to get a drink.

  7. Caught Deap Vally supporting QOTSA at Finsbury Park on Saturday, had totally forgotten what a force they are live. Great addition to the Latitude line up. I think they will be great in the tent!

  8. I guess it depends where you go in America.I went to Memphis last year and every bar along Beale Street had bands playing, and live music wasn't just limited to the bars either it was all over the street. As far as I was aware live music is a massive part of the culture over there but have only been a handful of times.

Thanks everyone for answering, at at length my questions. @Smeble, @bluedaze and @fluff1964, for some reason I can;t tag you.

I think we are about to book, very exciting. Apart from local festivals I've only ever done V and Glastonbury (yes opposite ends of the spectrum) , but 30+ of them if I addd V and Glastonbury together , so really looking forward to trying something different - time now to book the ferry, and grab tickets

Does the arena open on Thursday ? the dates say 12th - 15th, or is it just campervan/camping that opens on the Thursday ?

    FF

    xx

Yeah the arena is open on Thursday. Its a good time to have a wander around and get your bearings ready for the weekend ahead.

Yeah, he was mostly acting as a second guitarist but did hop onto keys for Standing in the Cold IIRC. They sounded great and the new addition didn't take away from the stripped-back simplicity of it all.

Awesome stuff. Seeing them on Saturday so looking forward to hearing how they've progressed since last time.

So Drenge are now a four-piece, who knew? Shame neither them or the excellent support band Kagoule will be at R&L this year.

Four piece?! Have they added a second guitarist then? I know they added the bassist for their last album. How did they sound?

I don't think anyone has yet, but I believe it's a rename/revamp of one of the Rainbow venues?

Interesting... seems pretty small in comparison to the rest of the venues on the tour. Found some info that the capacity is only 600. Think I'll be grabbing a ticket for that one!

  14. Bilbao BBK which takes place over the same weekend as Latitude in Spain have just added My Bloody Valentine to their line up which I'm hoping adds a bit of weight to them being at Latitude. Also added KGATLW which would be a very welcomed addition. Think there tends to be a bit a crossover so fingers crossed!
