maybe the judges were allocated a section to listen to that were from one letter of the 2000 band long list ...........

28% of list is letters A-E.....

might just be coincidence. And yes  a ‘pre-listen to everything else’ vote for Lines from me.

  2. That long list: without judging too early - does it look like some of the judges couldn’t be arsed listening to anything outside of one letter of the alphabet? Looks like a few have picked bands based on the letter they begin with....

    will have a listen tho

  3. Cure

    liam

    sigrid

    fat whites

    kylie

    sheryl crow

    idles

    streets

    tame impala

    good bad and queen

I never see more than a dozen or so over the whole weekend so given that I usually see a couple at acoustic, one or two at least at leftfield and more often than not the other stage opener then I reckon there is well more than enough for me this year.

I loved ‘human nature’ and stuff round that era, Emotional Hooligan.Saw him once or twice, was great. No idea what he’d be like now.

The new bits I’ve heard have been amazing. He was every bit as important to that 80s scene as any of those others I mentioned and certainly the Tackhead Hard Left/Reality/Mind at the end of the Tether single  trilogy which he was instrumental on were as good as anything that came out from that lot.

  5. Gary Clail of On U Sound/Tackhead fame.  He’s been quiet for a few years ( he’s been working with homeless, ex offenders etc- he practices the social justice he preaches) but hearing some snippets of material and talk of a new album on the horizon. Would be great to see him at Glastonbury; I know Mark Stewart and Adrian Sherwood have been there in recent years but Clail would be a great comeback story.

As far as "literally it" goes, Emily telling a room full of people is a pretty big it.

@crazyfool1 was there and confirmed what was said.

You may need one of these...

Possibly! ‘Have not booked....’ said in October, is hardly ‘will not be appearing....’ though is it? I’m not denying it was said; just that it’s not a rule out in any serious way.

  7. At a talk in Taunton this evening, Emily Eavis has said Glastonbury have NOT booked Madonna, Fleetwood Mac or Led Zep.

GlastoThingy twitter post from October. That is literally it in terms of ‘ruling out’ FM this year.

Ladies and gentlemen, Fleetwood Mac are your 2019 Saturday night pyramid headliners. Or I will eat my hat.

Someone who actually curates the festival wouldn't be reliable, would they?

She said they hadn’t been booked didn’t she....? Which isn’t the same as ‘not playing’.

  9. Saw an art exhibition at Bristol’s Cafe Kino basement at the weekend, featuring work by Chris Nicholls/ Soft Geometry who contributed to the JAAAOR deluxe vinyl artwork. Some fabulous pieces, with the event soundtracked by a few bands including my current absolute faves Oranj Son. Think it’s still on - worth a look if you are round there.  Take a credit card with a full balance mind you.....

  10. The kids will like The Park. Easy to find good viewing spec for most bands, great food and nice bars, Silent Disco. It’s like a festival in itself and has the teepees, the hill, sign and tower all around. It’s great. Our kids always loved it and it’s still our meet up place all these years later.
