I mentioned to a colleague who has a ticket that Radiohead were headlining, she stared at me blankly before saying 'I don't know what they sing'. I can understand why they're not everyone's cup of tea but to not know what they sing? She's roughly my age so doesn't have youthful ignorance as an excuse, I was stunned. If she had a sense of humour I would assume she's winding me up.

Thank you for explaining as I had no idea. I prefer the in the thick of it action, but as you say it's horses for courses.

Have you thought about Camplight? Pre pitched tents on Pennards? I'm tempted this year just so I

a ) don't have to lug a tent in and put it up, and

b ) can leave slightly later on Weds after a decent nights sleep without worrying if I am going to have to camp by the fence somewhere

  3. As long as these scalping sites have access to tickets before the public it is a con.

In my opinion ticket shouldn't be able to be put on resale sites within 24 hours tickets being sold, and they should have a maximum resale value of 110% of the face value so fees and costs can be covered. This would create an easy platform for people to resell tickets that they bought 'just in case' or they changed their mind, could no longer attend etc (as it probably was with @ghostdancer1's experience) without creating an opportunity for those with immoral programmes, contacts or corporate partnerships to make a dickload of money and cheating those who can't afford the inflated prices to be outbid from seeing events that they should have every right to attend.

Apologies for the rant but in my opinion this is the biggest blight on the music industry at the moment.

  4. Started listening to Yak this week and it turns out that they are playing in my neck of the woods this evening. Love a last min ticket purchase - so much more exciting than buying tickets months in advance and forgetting about them until you see an event in the calendar.

A carefully selected retro act often goes down a treat at bestival for example.

I think they utilize acts like the Cuban Brothers who tick the 'getting the party started' box well too.

Reckon they'll be doing better than a decent Other slot - as high as Pyramid sub seems completely in their reach if the hype of the first album is anything to go by

To me it feels like they've left it too long between albums so they have lost all of their momentum. You're probably right that I've put them too low but even as a fan I think it would be a disappointing Pyramid sub booking for me.

Oh and +1 for Frank Carter and the Rattlesnakes. I thought they would have been ace on the Hell stage this year.

at the roundhouse gig i was surprised at how many people in their late teens/early 20's were there, singing along to every word of no surprises. an incredibly diverse crowd.

and also, I don't think video gets enough love - maybe because its not on youtube:

    LISTEN to that.

Goosebumps in a stuffy office (the name of my second album incidentally)

because my info is from June and might have changed, and my 99.99% is more hunch in conclusion than confirming other-info, and I'm being mega cautious after the coldplay cock-up ... and it came from Michael's lips.

I can't go telling you lot to be wary of stuff Michael's said and then dive full in myself. :P

But i do think in this instance it's right.

Did you get that much grief for the one time (that I'm aware of) that you were wrong?

It's a shame to think you cant back your knowledge/hunches/information through fear of people overreacting or being abusive. The internet can be such a negative, faceless place that can do so much harm to those who are trying to create a positive environment/positive materials.

I suspect a single will be out before the end of the year.

I was pretty annoyed nothing immediately followed the hype build up from last week when they went through all the phases on social media then just stopped.  Personally, I have very, very little interest in Jamie's artwork - what I want is new music.

They have another couple of weeks in the studio according from the horse's mouth
