I'd probably say as the Mau5 for more commercial appeal.

That said, I suppose we could see Testpilot and Calvin Harris in his Love Regenerator alias in order to get over any exclusive clauses from elsewhere?

    Yeah, good point.

Really looking forward to the second year of Pangea. It has a lot of potential, and I'm sure there's going to be some sick new stuff. I loved Arcadia but it was a victim of it's own success, so if you couldn't get close there was a lack of atmosphere.

Question is, do I get tickets for Deadmau5 at Brixton just in case Glasto doesn't happen?

  2. Lukas Nelson & The Promise of the Real have announced UK dates in June. Saw them at Glasto and might grab a ticket if it's a decent price. There's also a Glasto gap - either Saturday or Sunday.

Fri, JUN 19 - SWX, Bristol

    Sat, JUN 20 - Academy 2, Manchester

Sun, JUN 21 - Eridge Park, Tunbridge Wells

Mon, JUN 22 - O2 Forum Kentish Town, London

Wed, JUN 24 - City Halls & Old Fruitmarket, Glasgow

Thu, JUN 25 - Limelight, Belfast

Fri, JUN 26 - The Academy, Middle Abbey Street, Dublin

Tickets on sale Friday 6th March

Could it be something on the pyramid on the Thursday night. They have made the field bigger and it is the 50th.🤪

Licensing issues have always made this impossible and I presume we'd have already heard if the council had granted the festival a license for music on the main stages on Thursday.

January 2019, specifically the 'metal slot' and 5pm on the Friday. Not long after she told @eFestivals or Scotty that there wouldn't be anyone for the 2019 festival but someone huge for 2020. Could still be Aerosmith, but why mention metal and that specific day and time if that was the case?

    Are Aerosmith metal enough?

How have people found out about the sets in the past, I remember seeing the killers by accident because I was watching Frank carter I think, don't tend to use my phone much at the festival.

The Killers secret set was well know about on here. I told my group about it and we thought about it, but they closed off JP area ages before they started and we didn't want to miss something else.

On another note, I work with a guy who is still adamant that Arcade Fire played the Park last year.

The programme lists all the TBA sets I think - so you know where and when, jut not who. But this forum will usually know.

It's possible the RHCP? I can see them there, for tour schedule, for offering to play themselves in the past at low cost and for Frusciante I consider them as BIG, definitely.

And why are you sure will take place in the Pyramid this time?

Not a ridiculous shout, but since Fru's reveal they've actively stopped booking gigs this summer. I imagine they're only doing the ones they're already confirmed for because they have to, and the minute they can go back to LA and write/record a new album they will. I'd say more likely as a 2021 headliner.

With all the Chili's live talk I thought I'd get in on the act as I've seen them be great and terrible.

    V Festival - 2003 - Very good - By the way era
Earls Court - 2006 - Terrible & didn't even play under the bridge. It probably didn't help that SA was awful
Reading Festival - 2006 - Terrible - Even worse than Earls Court
Rock Werchter - 2016 - Good/Okay - Good setlist and were okay live but nothing special

Seems to be that if you catch them early on in their touring schedule then they're good. If you catch them towards the end of it though, it's bad. Frusciante has famously blamed his exits from the band on having to play the same songs every gig and becoming bored. There will be a honeymoon period now that he's fresh and rejoined, then maybe enthusiasm with a new record but he'll probably feel the same way in 2022.

But I fully believe that this is the final formation of the RHCP. If John quits again, I think the band will retire.

  8. They've always been massively polarising amongst music fans. You tend to not find anyone who doesn't like them, there's hatred, those that like singing along to the hits, and the die-hard fans. It's funny, I know plenty of people who absolutely despise them and really don't see how they're so popular.

But regarding John Frusciante, it's a massive deal that he's back. He's a fantastic musician; amazing guitarist and talented singer, and it's not a coincidence that the band has been the most successful when he's been part of the songwriting process. This is the guy who wrote Under the Bridge - you can hate the band but that song is a beautifully melodic guitar progression.

What's funny is that most people who would watch them at a festival wouldn't even know who John Frusciante is.

  9. That RHCP news is crazy! I honestly thought their Instagram had been hacked. Massive news. If Glastonbury have managed to get them booked on the Other then it's a real coup. Probably won't happen though.

But, I could see them doing it in 2021. It's been quite clear that Macca, Taylor and Kendrick have been the top choices for years beforehand.

Each to their own but I think it's a shame that they are missing out on the rest of the festival.  Also, going to bed after the headliners?

I was shocked how many people go to bed at that time when I was working on PGB this year, not just talking about families with kids either.

Someone in my group is going for the first time in 2020. She's 30, and has made it very clear she's heading straight to the tent after each headliner set. I really don't get it. Each to their own and all, but the festival is truly amazing at night.

Leave it dude. Full of people that just want RHCP, Muse, Stone Roses every year until they die.

It makes me realise how festivals like Download, IOW etc survive by booking the same middle of the road bands every year. Because there are some incredibly conservative gig attendees.

conservative in the sense that they buy the same lineup annually and don’t really want that to change.

I think it's more that Glastonbury diversified whereas the other UK festivals have failed to do so. Glastonbury booked Jay-Z, which at the time of announcement wasn't exactly lauded, but in hindsight it was a move that has not only sustained the festival but elevated it far above the competition.

Reading pays big bucks to entice the biggest acts, Download is so genre-specific that there's only a handful of possible headliners every year, IOW is the same as Reading, T in the P wasn't sustainable, V has disappeared as well. Glasto took a massive risk in 2008 that's now started paying off.

Why does that rule out Pearl Jam sorry? Am I missing something

If anything with it being one of his favourite headliners, it's not going to be Chillis is really? Can't say it would be a favourite of his having bumped him off previously

PJ are his favourite rock band.

On BST, did someone say they're due to announce next week?

Yeah someone said to expect some announcements.

Not sure it'll really change much though. The dates are different from Glasto anyway. Won't be a surprise to see Taylor or Kendrick mentioned, even RHCP. I suppose we'll all be looking for the word "Exclusive" though.

For those who haven't heard the Radio Somerset interview (https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p07t4snh, 2.25), or can't be bothered, relevant bit goes as follows:

ME: "I've got two of my favourite headliners."
    J: Booked already?
    "Yes, already booked."
    Will I like them?
"Oh I can't tell you the second one, no."
    No that's fine
"Oh you'd love her to bits."
    Would I?
    "Everybody does, yeah."
    Everybody loves her?
"Yeah there's no, but there's no, no names at the moment"
    But it's a she...

ME also says that all of the headliners are booked.

That's the final kabosh on the Pearl Jam rumours, we know he likes them. Probably leaves the Chilis door open though...

I get the impression he realises he's given too much away there... ?

Well from that comment it's Taylor, or possibly Madonna.

Btw how fucking annoying is this Radio Somerset bloke.

I sure hope he's referring to Taylor, since that really cannot be said about Madonna these days.

Well it was henrick lewandowsiki he’s well in with the band and band crew he goes to every concert they do.

Share the info with Neil and if he thinks it's solid he'll update the rumours page.

No ones taking the rhcp seriously about headlining Friday ?

Well, there's no real concrete links. In fact, there's more reasons to think it wouldn't happen. We know for a fact that EE likes KL.

2019 did resurrect it though. The Killers are now embarking on a massive tour, no doubt helped by this year's festival.

Haven't all Killers albums gotten to no1 in the UK though? I think there's a handful of indie bands that remain popular from the early 2000s indie explosion.

  19. Kendrick - 20% - need to listen to more of his stuff.

    McCartney - 110% - As others have said, it's a moment I'll keep for a lifetime

Swift - 50% - Like some of the tracks on RED and had an ex that played 1989 incessantly so know some of that. Depends who she's up against.
