I am fully expecting to let a little whoop of excitement out in the office and get sent home on grounds of insanity. Can't wait! 24 bands!
-
Can't say I'd be too excited about BDB returning, if he were to do so. I loved him for those first three albums but he's become incredibly dull now, imo. By his own admission he's trying to mimic Coldplay's approach to penning bland and tedious indie-ballads and cashing in on that successful formula. How's that working for you Badly?
I actually saw him at the Ben & Jerry's Sundae thing a few years back and the contrast between the old material and new was astronomical.
But yeah, Billy Bragg is always good value, I'd have him on the bill in a shot.

And also, don't forget, I could be very, very, VERY wrong. And most probably am.
-
Well excuse me!
-
Ooooh and next announcement will be a week today!

don't look at it, you'll get over excited and do a wee in your pants

So I've been following EotR on Twitter for a while, but I noticed today that they've grouped up all the bands they're following. Makes for interesting reading and (probably!) highly unadvisable speculation about future artist announcements.
So based on looking at this list, I am now expecting to see Port O'Brien, Dinosaur Jr, Of Montreal and The Decemberists at this year's festival.
-
Sambassadeur. I'm loving Sambassadeur at the moment, so them. And Rural Alberta Advantage.
-
I just discovered Fanfarlo (via the Guardian's Top 50 Albums of the Year) and was hoping I could be the first one to mention them, but I see I'm the 3rd. Oh well:
Fanfarlo (and their singer is Swedish apparently).
-
That was nice, really nice. Anyone know when part 2 is due? This has whetted my appetite for more.
-
I reckon British Sea Power will be back after a years hiatus. They're expecting to release something next summer as well.
-
I would utterly love, love, LOVE to see Polyphonic Spree at EotR and I know a couple of my mates who are coming along for the first time would as well. But not up against Wilco please. Can't be having that!
-
Nothing'severgonnastandinmyway (Again) FTW!
Can't remember whether they played that at The Troxy in August or not.
-
I was disappointed too - Gutted Low Anthem only played one, so do we think The Decemberists might be at EOTR? Fingers crossed.
-
Watched Jools on replay last night and yeah, it was diasppointing to only have the three songs from the pair of them. Especially when The Low Anthem could have played another instead of Vic Reeves' pointless interview (and I like Vic Reeves).
Was a bit gutted for The Decemberists though. Jools never provides a great platform for bands, IMO. They always sound a bit weak and insipid on there. Sadly, The Decemberists performance was marred by the problems. Having seen them at The Forum on Wednesday, I can safely say that The Rake's Song and The Wanting Comes In Waves come across so, so, so much better in a proper live setting. Awesome band and the perfect headliner for EotR. MAKE IT HAPPEN!
-
Just heard from a mate that he went to see Dan Mangan last night and had a chat with him afterwards. He confirmed that he's playing EotR. Superb news!
-
I've only gone and done it! Who else is booked up already?
-
Absolutely amazing news! You couldn't possibly believe the smile I have on my face right now.
WILCO! MOUNTAIN GOATS! LOW ANTHEM!
A fantastic start and I will be booking tickets very, VERY soon!
-
Most surprised it's as early as this for the first band announcements, but it's today, apparently. I'm very excited!
-
As much as I like The Wonder Stuff, not sure they'd be suited for EotR. What sort of line up have they got these days anyway? Is it just Miles and whoever he can get to tag along?
-
Yeasayer have probably already been mentioned (possibly even by my good self) but having just listened to the new single I want them there even more.
-
If Pavement play any UK festivals next year, I suspect it will be ATP exclusively. They will also command a hell of a fee I would imagine. There is not a chance in hell of them playing EotR, unfortunately.
I will gladly eat my words if wrong, but I just cannot see it ever happening.
-
I can't believe that Ben Kweller is commanding 25-30K. I mean, he's good, but in the same bracket as BSS? I mean, there's about 50 of them and they must all get a cut. You'd think Ben would be able to afford a hair-cut on that sort of money. Maybe some jeans without holes in them. The youth of today!

Whoa! Especially pleased with The Antlers, but yeah, don't know a great deal about most of them. Should be an interesting few months checking them all out. Very excited!
