  1. i'm hearing these are likely to be one of the Other Stage headliners.

(I might have said that before - can't remember - but it's come at me from a few directions now).

So if it's not the money, and it isn't that the Eavii don't rate them, are we to assume the Roses themselves just don't want to do it?

It is about the money, I'm damned sure it is.

It's not that they won't take it, it's that *IF* they take it they'll reduce the fees of the other shows they're doing (which are pretty much 'it's difficult to see them elsewhere' if not fully exclusive), and Glasto's low fee makes it too much of a loss overall.

I reckon they'd be happy to take Glasto's lower fee, but only if it didn't impact into the fees of other shows - but it's always likely to with the few shows they prefer to do.

Whose kingdom. whose government failed to provide armed guards for Jo Cox? The Queen's.

There was no particular reason to think Jo needed an armed guard ... because, funnily enough, the threats she'd had she'd brushed off as coming from mouthy but harmless nutters.

    Remind you of anyone?

That aside, I'd hate to live in a country where MPs most people have never heard of require armed guards by default, as you're advocating. I'd much prefer the Swedish version where their PM didn't even have protection (and was murdered).

I mean I don't think they'll be at Glastonbury, but they've got pretty much constant shows between now and the end of May

I take it you mean that gap between end of May and Bst?

    I guess.

I was only told that they couldn't be doing Glasto as they weren't working before July.

(the wording there might seem strange, but it makes more sense if you know what I do which i can't say).

There might have been a 'aren't working in June' part too, I forget. Whatever, the info was specifically about their glasto availability, and from the same source who told me in the preceding august the last time they played (it was prolly the first real rumour that year).

He didn't.  He emailed Neil to explain why when deleting his account and Neil relayed the info.  There was no grandstanding goodbye thread, we just talked about it a lot.

Or that's how I remember it, might have it completely wrong!

    not quite true.

There was a goodbye thread, that he started at my request - just because too many would have been too quick to point the finger at me for deleting him against his will. ;)

(he said he was spending too much time here and it was diverting him from important things).

The thread didn't stay up for very long tho (it got deleted when his account did) - just long enough for people to see him post he was leaving.

Long shot as it might be too soon after 2014 but I wonder if Pixies are hinting are something here.

I've had word from the Pixies camp (sort of), and they're not together to tour before July.

All but foolish readers should know that twitter users don't, as a rule, have their own armies.

    Really?

There's a dead Jo Cox that didn't take an army, it just required someone following thru on their hatred of the current establishment.

Like you display and incite, just in case you're having difficulty joining up the dots.

fwiw from Emily and Nick's POV Brian's probably still the more credible booking. At this point Mike and Bruce are pretty much a glorified children's party act.

it's also a tour that's supposedly Brian's last - so it's now or never if the farm wants him.

Although that's not until over a month later.  The Beach Boys at least are in Europe the week of the festival and do seem the types to graft looking at their dates. Brian's dates are certainly less tight and he is scheduled to be in Europe the Thursday after.

    Could easily be either one.

    yep, you're right.

    But I still reckon it's most-likely Brian.

Pretty much all just googling dates combined with 'Glastonbury'. A lot of those take me to Bandsintown, naturally, but yeah there's not much trickery too it.

I can tell you that the United Vibrations Glasto entry has only appeared within the last few days, cos it wasn't there last week when I was on that page.

The phrase "my army" is immediately available to be understood as rhetoric.

Only if the reader knows you're a mouthy but harmless fish.

You don't need to check someone's website to make sure they don't have an army. Unless it was Trump tweeting that, it simply is not reasonable to take it literally.

there was no army for the 'A' in IRA?

    Ta.

Not a popular opinion round here, mainly because Mike Love is such a douchebag, but I'd very happily see the touring outfit known as "The Beach Boys".  Far less sincerity and musicianship, but still good fun.

I can't see it being the beach boys, as it's Brian doing loads of UK shows this summer.

I think this is a michael thing, like he was telling everyone 'Pink Floyd' in 2002 when it was really Roger Waters.

The XX have been changed to TBC over the past day, any particular reason for this Neil? @eFestivals

    no, they haven't.

In another thread someone said they were playing The Park, so I moved them to the park. Then I read a bit more of the discussion, and people were saying they were too big for there - which is probably right, so I moved them back again - and so the date-stamp has been updated.

In the meantime I added them a second time, as an SR for the park, just to cover the possibility of them playing multiple times (including perhaps a secret set at the park).

  14. 5 minutes ago, stuartbert two hats said:

How strong a rumour is Brian Wilson?  "Just above rumour" SR, or "would be a TBC if it wasn't for that Coldplay thing in 2015" level SR?

I'm just about certain the info is correct, but the source has no meaningful history with me that can give me the final bit of confidence - particularly as his info to me was 'the beach boys' and not Brian Wilson anyway.

I see the community festival was announced today which is run by the festival republic and a couple weeks before latitude, could some of these acts be at latitude? does it make catfish more of a possibility?

I suspect all of them will either be at latitude or R/L.

I've submitted my reply published here

to the court already which precisely argues for tomorrow that I didn't make threats. I don't agree with the court's verdict, think it foolish.

I respect that individuals have a right to their own views, but I can disagree while respecting the rights of fools to be foolish.

What I don't respect is the right of the Queen to impose foolish courts to rule over the people though. That's why I am a republican - so that instead of having to respect foolish courts, we can elect a head of state whose duty it is to see that we don't get ruled by foolish courts.

There is no way I am going to admit to making "threats" when I did no such thing and only a foolish court could come to that verdict.

You'll find that republican courts rule that threats are illegal, too.

"my army" is precisely leading to a conclusion of hyperbole.

or it's alternatively how you're going to follow thru on what you posted.

Even I don't know if you've got an army or not. I presume you haven't, but I don't know with certainty.

The problem arises when you get foolish, ignorant, uneducated police officers taking words literally that only a fool would take literally and that problem is escalated when prosecutors and courts excuse the foolishness of the foolish police officer and make it their own.

It was probably a foolish, ignorant, uneducated 'civilian' who reported it to them, where they are then obliged to take it at the face value of your words.

Which is how it's gone with every other abusive or threatening tweeter who's ended up in court.

Probably - Brian Wilson would be doing Pet Sounds, whilst #RightBazza wouldn't really be performing as a solo artist, but more in his role as Last Bee Gee Standing.

yep, those two fit the siblings theme. :)

    But there's more. :P
