WOMAD Taranaki returns to Brooklands Park, which is the gateway to Pukekura Park, in the coastal city of New Plymouth, New Zealand from Friday 18th to Sunday 20th March 2011.

Line-up

The first acts announced are Afro Celt Sound System, Amadou & Mariam, Bob Brozman, Calypso Rose, The Creole Choir of Cuba, Don Letts, Hangga, Horace Andy & Dub Asante, Nitin Sawhney, Rajendra Prasanna, Rango, Tanya Tagaq, The Cat Empire, Maisey Rika, Compagnie Ekart, Faiz Ali Faiz, Juan De Marcos Afro-Cuban All Stars, Luka Bloom, Rhombus with Michel Tuffery, Carolina Moon, Dva, Nga Tae, Paddy Free, Sola Rosa, The Barons of Tang, The Topp Twins, and Trinity Roots. More than 300 musicians and performers from 20 different countries will bring the world to New Plymouth across seven stages.

WOMAD also features artist workshops, a global food village, movies under the stars, Taste the World, artists in conversation and Kidzone as well as the option to camp at the adjacent racecourse.

Venue

Set in a stunning 55 acre park and garden, Brooklands Park & TSB Bowl has gained a reputation as one of the most beautiful outdoor venues in the world.

All Star Gala

The All Star Gala will see many of the festival's performers come together on the main stage on Sunday night. This year the gala is being directed by Nitin Sawhny.

Artists in Conversation

This programme offers a unique opportunity to learn more about some of the artists as they share their history and musical journeys.

Films/h4> A selection of evening films about one-hour long will be programmed under the stars.

Camping

The rent a tent option complete with airbeds is expected to make a return as are the viewing platforms reserved for people over 65 years.

Getting there

4 hours drive from Wellington, 4.5 hours from Auckland, or a budget flight from anywhere in New Zealand.
