  1. We did, he was working us very hard with not enough breaks for getting water and going to the toilet really, and I felt unwell after a day of this. It did improve a tiny bit after my husband fedback our experience, but only a bit. He was a personal friend of the lady in charge of recycling so don't think complaining would/will help.
  2. Hey lovely, think we're with the same Berks/Hants based charity though!
  3. Quite likely, last year we gave an additional donation towards the charity - so didn't get all the deposit back, I didn't mind that as wanted to support the charity. But they were open about the donation - this might be a way for them to take a bigger 'donation' but without being so clear about it. Any other charity volunteers here? Similar situation, or do they give you your full refund back? Could jump charities or just do general recycling crew I guess.
  4. Had an email from my charity and we have to pay £505 now and you should get a refund of £150 if you complete all your shifts. So the total cost to volunteer will be £355 (same as if I bought a ticket!). We have to be on site from Tues 25th June to Mon 1st July and only get one day off now?? 6 hour shifts. I love Glastonbury and have enjoyed volunteering for the recycling crew (on behalf of 2 different charities over 3 years) but this just seems crazy to me, very expensive and I personally find the work quite hard on my body. My team leader last year was also a bit of an arsy slave driver, which has put me off a bit too. I guess I won't be going this year then...
  5. Weird and annoying, sooo last mintue...something must have gone wrong behind the scenes, always amazes me how Glastonbury is so big and been running forever but is kinda amateur too...like the covid livestreaming problems!

    Volunteering 2023

No idea! I just tried to look at them today, to give details to a friend who might be interested in volunteer next year but couldn't find the facebook page and the website didn't load either

    'Healthy' food

OK, bit of a boring question but can I have recommendations of food stalls that have yummy, healthy food? Like lots of veggies and fruit (doesn't have to be vegan/veggie). In an attempt to not feel like poop from partying and eating only stodge, I'm looking to at least eat the occasional vegetable this festival!

    Volunteering 2023

Same for my husband and I (we must have volunteered together last year). Prior to 2022, we volunteered for a different charity litter picking the Pyramid Stage in 2016 (very muddy) so we're pleased with the theatre & circus shift this year!

    Volunteering 2023

Has anyone volunteered with Greenpeace at Glastonbury? We usually volunteer with the recycling crew via a charity and my husband has also volunteered once for Oxfam many years ago. But I was just interested (more for 2024 as already have our recycling place for 2023) as I like Greenpeace and the Greenpeace area at Glastonbury in general.
  10. How do I join an efestival group to up our chances of getting tickets please? My husband and I have been trying for tickets most years since we've been together (2010) but we have always failed! We volunteered with the recycling crew in 2016 and 2022 (husband also volunteered with Oxfam in 2002, those are the 3 times he's been to festival. I've been with friends in 2003 and 2007 but it was my friends that managed to get me tickets). We love volunteering but it's his 40th and we would love to just go as regular punters for once! I'm hoping 2023 will be our year.
  11. I saw three people jump the fence into Tom's Field in the middle of the day, security ran after them but I don't think they caught them. It did seem very busy to me at times (I've previously been in 2003, 2007, 2016) so I just tried to keep to quieter areas.
  12. Something like these https://www.cheekywipes.com/ Or just buy several cheap flannels and maybe get a wet bag (eg https://www.cheekywipes.com/wetbags-mesh-washbags-mob/bag-mucky-gn.html or just a big ziplock bag?) to put them in once you've used them, then just pop in washing when you get home.

    Opening ceremony

Just wondered if anyone had any info on the opening ceremony - when, where, what?! I'm guessing Wednesday evening near Stone Circle but can't see anything on the website (though that might just me being a bit dim!) Thanks
  14. It would have been the perfect Mothers Day gift to secure some tickets so my husband and I can spend 4 days away from our 2 and 4 year old! But alas I failed AGAIN in getting tickets, I've been trying since 2003 but never actually got tickets myself - friends got them for me in 2003 and 2007 and we volunteered with the recycling crew in 2016. The Glastonbury ticket Gods do not favour me...ho hum!
