  1. Lineup 2018

Would say it'd have to be a big slot but I dunno. D'you reckon they mean anything to Generation Z?
  2. 2019 Headliners

    I prefer his later work.
  3. Tour Announcements & Upcoming Gigs

I just misclicked on Dice and was blown away that Japanese Breakfast were also playing for £4 (without forty pee booking fee I guess). That does look like a swell inner-city festival. Scousers eatin fam.
  4. Lineup 2018

Yeah maybe if we were on about Download type headliners but Royal Blood and Foo Fighters (and Muse) are way more R+L. Also that’s a pretty generalised formula that has one, at a stretch two years of precedence so I wouldn’t stick too closely to it anyhow.
  5. Tour Announcements & Upcoming Gigs

    "one-off"? eff off
  6. Lineup 2018

    Fantastic news.
  7. Lineup 2018

How would Royal Blood and Foo Fighters together be too heavy? They both played the Glastonbury main stage this year alongside Ed Sheeran and Katy Perry. I don't think adding another act would water it down any more anyway. Yup I've begun to think those lot. Not because I "don't think Royal Blood are big enough to headline outright" but cos they're small enough to have to accept it, and Paramore probably the same and it's a combo not far removed from 2014 so it'd work well enough , whereas Kendrick is a weird fit coheadlining with any other potential headline candidate.
  8. 2019 Headliners

Drake also. But I agree. And the sorta things Smith has going for him is he's a British success, has played Glastonbury before (three times if he played with Disclosure in both 2013 and 2016?) and would probably benefit from offering a possibly cheaper headline booking than other popstars and agents that would actually approach the festival rather than vice versa. I feel daft for ever thinking he'd go away now. Only came on the scene five years ago yday with that Disclosure track and now the man has like 12m world sales, 4 Grammy's, an Oscar and a Golden Globe and has only released one album. It remains that he won't get as big as Ed Sheeran (the teen heartthrob thing probably doesn't work that well for gay blokes) and Adele (considerably less likeable) but damned if we haven't been underestimating the boy.
  9. 2019 Headliners

Same. The main arguments against it for me would be the availability of other more established pop headliners (Madonna if she wants, Beyoncé could return, Taylor Swift if she's still adored) and rap acts (lets face it, they couldn't have both a rapper and a straight up pop singer without an angry mob) but saying Sam Smith will not be big enough to headline is really just sticking yer head in the sand. Guy will be headlining festivals worldwide so he's no reason to rock up at a festival which will basically be his target audience and support whoever.
  10. The National

Yeah, it seems to be the first two weekend of July. Might include the Friday June 29th-Sunday July 1st weekend though - up to them I guess.
  11. 2019 Headliners

They can't only ever book mainstream pop headliners who are phenomena because there aren't enough around and they've probably exhausted list of ones who would want to do it. I've no idea why they'd suddenly decide to ignore that he's big enough to headline when the festival were happy to give him a mid-Other slot before his debut album was out.
  12. Latitude 2018

    If they get tickets, sure.
  13. British Summer Time 2018

Brilliant news. I'm not really fussed about the original lineup but just touring again and playing golden era songs is news to behold.
  14. BBC's The Biggest Weekend 2018

Sounds about right. If they’re doing four events then it would make sense to hit every country of the UK.
  15. BBC's The Biggest Weekend 2018

Think the press got carried away with the ‘Glastonbury replacement’ line, seeing as the only comparison seems to be the coverage, and naturally it’s gonna be that large if they’re planning four simultaneous events. As for the arrangement; I’m expecting a festival per each station and on the surface it’ll be the same as any year but with all the events taking place on the same weekend rather than Feb, May, Sep etc. Hopefully the 6music leg will be a bit more substantial because of the proximity to Primavera. Wouldn’t expect camping if they’ve never introduced it before and it’d cost a bunch more for the BBC for no real reward.
  16. 2017 New Music Thread

If anyone listened to that Sioux Falls record I was raving about last year, they released their follow up on Friday under their new name Strange Ranger and it's titled 'Daymoon'. Much more laid back than Rot Forever was but it's a good jam. Fer fans of early Modest Mouse, (Sandy) Alex G and other emo-tinged indie rock.

    Everything Now by Arcade Fire
  18. Lineup 2018

I dunno I guess they just reached out to Fall Out Boy first. I woulda thought they'd have booked Biffy Clyro on their own if they had lined it up in advance or hadn't approached Fall Out Boy, especially as they ended up headlining each site with a longer set, but that's just a guess. Also I think we heard they were struggling for a third headliner at some point in January hadn't we? And then came the Fall Out Boy/Biffy Clyro stuff. Anyway, basically, normally I'd think Radiohead weren't much of a R+L act but I wouldn't dismiss the 2016 thing personally, and I guess if there was an opportunity to have them on some sort of exclusive across the few dates they were playing then they'd take that for sure. Not expecting them or anything.

    Nowt just being fresh.

Your favourite albums are essentially eFests' consensus favourite albums. That's wild.
  21. Lineup 2018

Foals/FOB was never a thing. It was reported by someone on here who "heard it at the festival", despite us knowing about Foals and Disclosure headlining in November or earlier. Biffy weren't picked up by anyone cos they'd already headlined everywhere since their last hit. Fall Out Boy and Biffy Clyro were obviously the replacement coheadliners - why would Biffy have been a coheadliner so soon after if not? Radiohead were the only name given by Neil and he seemed fairly confident, and obviously if they were meant to have been booked then they were seen as an appropriate headliner regardless of undercard. If it wasn't them then who was it who dropped out? And are they in contention for 2018?
  22. Lineup 2018

I dunno, I think their reach is being underestimated a bit. I'm sure loads of kids just getting into rock/indie rock would be all over a Radiohead set. And they've just been around the world playing Creep and Fake Plastic Trees to massive festival crowds so I don't think the difficult fans' band thing is really as consistent a thing as it used to be (tho maybe not load all the hits at the end like Glastonbury). Seems fine to me really. Guess they'd not be there if Foo Fighters were (might be a bit too Glasto 2017 considering they're possibly gonna have to appeal to that audience) but maybe Foos do their own shows, Arctics aren't ready and Radiohead are the major band ready to carry the weekend.
  23. Lineup 2018

Was just thinking about acts not listed above that could be in contention and I know this is daft but I got to wondering about Radiohead. They were apparently in talks or provisionally in place for 2016 weren't they? 2017 they had Glastonbury already sorted and 2018 they said they're doing a few shows next year before going off for a while, so lets make up for binning 2016 lads.
  24. Liam Gallagher

There's not much of it because there's not much call for it nowadays in rock music. Bands get by well enough and earn admiration through working hard, putting on captivating performances and using their platform to inform or inspire, and perhaps can't afford to/don't feel the need to be disrespectful or inflammatory. Give me that over a 45 year old dude whinging into an echo chamber about how bands are crap now and the world used to be better twenty years ago. Obviously I appreciate that's who he is and he doesn't need to temper that down if his fans like it but the problem I had was with him anchoring his songs with randomly placed but seemingly contrived potshots and quotes that work to make the rest of it redundant.
  25. Lineup 2018

Hey, welcome. The headliners should be officially known in announcements towards the end of November, January and February (or the start of following months) but sticking around here should mean you hear the headliners in advance thru eFestivals info or other helpful peeps (we knew all three by December last year). As for who we think now, we haven't really had any solid suggestive info and guesses are mostly based on who assumed to be touring next summer but you'll see who the most common suggestions are by just following the thread or checking recent discussions.
