  1. Tour Announcements & Upcoming Gigs

Ah that’s awful. I guess it’s alright us lot knowing to never buy above FV and guffawing at their hyperbole when we’re not who they’re trying to con. They’re definitely the worst of a bad bunch - even in the cheap tickets game they all but eradicate the deficit with ridiculous fees.
  2. Lineup 2018

    He won’t play at all.
  3. Arcade Fire

I think it’s just because we’ve had the end of year and winter and Christmas and whatever since. In reality, it’s not uncommon for a band to be promoting an album eight months on, and the Suburbs movie think came out about a year later. That’s probably why the ticket companies have implemented it then. I read that the seats in this tour give you a better look at the visual spectacle and all that if you eventually succumb to buying a ticket on the door.
  4. Tour Announcements & Upcoming Gigs

I know what you mean. You have a look at some tickets that are a fraction of face value because nobody wants them and it still puts you in a "queue" because of all the people looking at tickets right now, snatching tickets left right and centre.
  5. Tour Announcements & Upcoming Gigs

It must be a great time to be a classically trained musician.
  6. Arcade Fire

People said they monkeyed around, but nobody’s listening now. (do-do-do-do-do-do)
  7. Meltdown 2018

I would say you're definitely being harsh. If it wasn't the prestigious arts space it is then there'd be no Bob Smith curated Meltdown with all yer faves, and if there weren't these memberships propping it up then it would struggle to stay afloat. Manchester International Festival is about the same; these aren't regular gigs so they can't be expected to be treated as such, and that's why it's not necessarily in line with gig ticket prices and you have to jump through different hoops, and I bet that drives a fair amount of people away. Anyway I'm pretty sure you'll get a chance to see any of these acts again outside the Southbank Centre.
  8. Arcade Fire

Quite nice this. Obviously massively triggering for anyone who was upset by the Everything Now co. pseudo-marketing scheme as this is very much the short film of that, but just comes across as a bit of daft fun really. Also gives strong evidence that Regine has never eaten cereal before. EDIT: in other news, they played (Antichrist Television Blues) for the first time in a decade last night.
  9. Lineup 2018

Jorja Smith is exclusive at Bestival. I think Cigarettes After Sex will probably be in the next announcement (they still have tickets to shift for May) and Gang of Youths seem to be getting the run of festivals this year so I bet they’ll be playing as well. Probably Stefflon Don and a few more of the UK based lower down names as well.
  10. Green Man Festival 2018

There looks to be a dozen or so to tack on, including a second stage headliner. It seems like they release a small announcement every month from now so the comedy and literature type things might be eked out over the coming months. I'm still having a tough time deciding too but they'll give plenty of warning when tickets start to run low, fortunately. Yeah I think I made the same mistake first time I saw it. Doesn't make sense but there you go, the world of festival lineup posters for ya.
  11. Green Man Festival 2018

KG are headlining Friday night. Says they're Sat/Sun on their site. Ah thanks. Shoulda thought about checking there. D'oh.
  12. Green Man Festival 2018

They've said that there is one second stage headliner to come, so they're certainly not all Friday-Sunday second stage headliners. If I was gonna punt on one outcome or the other, they'd all be subbing. Do you guys think they'd have said about Thursday's headliner by now? I'm thinking that it might be Grizzly Bear because they have a French festival on Friday, and Lowlands on either Saturday or Sunday, and then possibly Pukkelpop on either Saturday or Thursday as well. Green Man Twitters seems to be avoiding answering about Thursday which might mean they don't wanna divulge that Thursday headliner is already there, but I don't get why they wouldn't confirm it.
  13. 2019 Stage Predictions

Fair enough. Personally I understand it with quite a few acts hat are decent-enough space-fillers or rapidly up-and-coming artists (there are repeats in my prediction as well) but you don't really wanna overdo the likes of King Gizzard and Father John and Solange until they just become part of the furniture like Everything Everything or something.
  14. 2019 Stage Predictions

Yeah I don’t think I had him in my prediction and I’m moving TWOD out of the Other sub slot so I’m down.
  15. Lineup 2018

Stereophonics, Catfish and Liam Gallagher headlining every field in the land is peak Brexit.
  16. Tour Announcements & Upcoming Gigs

    That just looks fucking amazing.
  17. 2019 Stage Predictions

With a new album that wouldn't seem outrageous. She subbed West Holts on the album she's currently touring though so it would be as it stands. Anyway nobody is saying Latitude headliner is what it takes to sub Glastonbury, just so we're clear - I was just saying that The War on Drugs are big enough that they could've taken a Latitude headline slot. How does an act 'suit Other sub perfectly'? He is great on a massive stage while it's still quite sunny but it's getting a bit chilly? I dunno where I'd have him placed but just seems a bit of a bridge too far. Wouldn't be surprised though, especially if the next album really takes off.
  18. 2019 Stage Predictions

Dunno. Depends if he merits a step up. Re: TWOD; Beck is subbing APE tho, and Fleet Foxes headlined Latitude and are now headlining alongside TWOD at Green Man so I think they could’ve headlined Latitude really. Also (if TWOD stepped up their venues on this tour) you could say similar happened with Tame Impala on Currents; headlined EOTR, didn’t headline Bestival, did some arenas then subbed Glasto. I’m not really married to that prediction but it’s striking me as a possibility as we have been through the likes of Tame Impala, The National, Beck - and to some extent Jack White and Nick Cave at a point - where they aren’t immensely popular artists like the three subs you’ve suggested but they get chosen to do so by the festival. Pretty much why I chose Janelle Monáe and Iggy Pop as subs on my last predo.
  19. 2019 Stage Predictions

Yeah I was just trying to point out James Blake was a bit high on there, not really anything to do with James Bay except the name similarities. Mind you, it doesn’t seem that odd thinking on. I see The War on Drugs have announced a few European shows for winter so I actually could see them playing UK arenas (possibly just the O2) before the year is out. That’s next year’s Saturday conoisseurs Pyramid sub sorted.
  20. 2019 Stage Predictions

Why are Brockhampton fifth down Other lol whose mans is this??? Look pretty legit though. A few too many 2017 repeats however. Plus you have Parquet Courts lower than they played in 2014, and James Blake higher than James Bay. And I don’t think Mura Masa is gonna go from mid-afternoon Sonic to mid-afternoon Pyramid in a couple of years either.
  21. Lineup 2018

Yeah understandable when it’s a special one-off kinda thing but the majority of those acts you listed are gonna be touring again next year, and are gonna be all around Europe as well in what I reckon will be something of a watershed year for people finding their festivals abroad. Besides, even if R+L don’t name them as such, many of the acts are gonna at least be English festival exclusives. Including the headliners, which is commendable in a year where every other festival has one of Stereophonics, The Killers and Liam Gallagher headlining.
  22. Lineup 2018

  23. Tour Announcements & Upcoming Gigs

St Vincent playing Edinburgh, Leeds and Cambridge last week of August.
  24. All Points East Festival 2018

Woah okay jobsworth! Nah just playing congrats fella.
  25. My Bloody Valentine

Not an album is it? I think I read it was an EP, which adds up because albums obviously take twenty-odd years. Woulda been an English exclusive at most. Think Glasto will rectify it next year though.
