Some of the line-up has been revealed for Glastonbury Festival's Shangri-La - an area that's one massive immersive installation, a vast interactive fictional world brought to life by a creative team of over 1,500 crew, performers and artists. It is an entire realm to explore, with layer upon layer of creativity, This year is the fourth of the The Shafterlife story arc. Developing the idea of heaven and hell with contemporary sins and salvations - their message is "don't believe what you see hear or read!"

Shangri-La, is part of the late night South East 'naughty corner' of the Festival and organisers have revealed that 2016 is the year of Media Truth & Lies. This year’s story aims to highlight the deceit and distractions of the mainstream media. In Shangri-La, a new power resides over the this sensational, subversive city now that the media has gained full access to its inner workings and everyone’s personal lives. Shangri-Hell International Television has the monopoly on all media outlets, plus a new HQ to create more mind-controlling trite to make you feel better about yourselves.

But with the increase of media influence and technologies, A NEW MOVEMENT OF PEOPLE POWER IS RISING. Using art, music and a fuck ton of “likes” the people are claiming back their voices and power, hacking into the systems that control them, seeking the ultimate truth…

In 2016 the area hosts interactive installations and wrap around venues, ground breaking live art and performance, epic-scale subversive artworks and multifarious music programming unify to inspire and engulf its audiences.

"Shangri-La holds a mirror up to the masses, challenging people in politics and play. Creating conversations, force-feeding the senses, expanding minds and opening hearts. There are No Spectators.

The fantasy field in the furthest corner of the festival has a deep history in outsider art and underground culture. This spirit continues to manifest in original and new ways to inspire the next generation of cultural revolutionaries and amplify the collective conscience."

Due to its overwhelming popularity, attendees are advised to experience Shangri-La early in the evening in order to avoid the crowds after midnight.
