Not exactly a vast gulf between RATM and QOTSA, even if they are booked to the 2nd main stage.

Also, we're talking about a change with a years notice, not a week.

I realise that RATM was a long time ago, I was just saying that I don’t think that they’ll worry to much about genres when they’re looking for a replacement with a week’s notice.

    they then got QOTSA.....

Not really. The main three were RATM, Liam Gallagher and Stormzy and they were replaced with Stormzy, Liam Gallagher and Post Malone.

Despite claims that there are six equal headliners , QOTSA, CATB and Disclosure were very much the smaller headliners

Imagine the scenes when Post Malone gets replaced with Foals. Will end up being Dave I reckon if his tours sold out and they can convince Parklife to let them have him or something - not sure if thats possible though. What other rappers are in the running that are UK based? BBK maybe if they can somehow get them together for a one off ? Feel like losing post malone leaves them in such a tight spot unless they change genre.

No reason why they can’t change genre, don’t forget that Post Malone was a technically a replacement for RATM.

Exactly - I think they’ve been very careful in limiting the amount of acts who could potentially pull out. But yeah I can’t really see how post is going to escape it.

They haven’t been that careful, the reason that there isn’t many overseas acts left on the line up is because.at least 20 or 30 have already pulled out.

  5. 1, Biffy Clyro

    2, Fever333

    3, Bob Vylan

    4, Creeper

    5, Dinosaur Pile Up

    6, Loathe

    7, Badflower

    8, Holding Absence

Hoping for some secret sets to make up the 10 as I’ve had a few drop outs from Ho99o9, QOTSA, Spiritbox,Gallows and Cleopatrick.

Hoping the gods of fate will rebalance the withdrawals with the likes of Architects, Idles or Frank Carter.

i hope Frank’s set is an early afternoon one like the secret set usually is. do not wanna miss any of those top 4 main stage acts me

As long as he doesn’t clash with Fever333, I’ll be watching him.

On a related note, I will not be responsible for my actions if he clashes with Fever333.

Anyone else noticed that the Pit only has 11 bands booked and Lock up has 12.......

I assume we're not expecting another announcement... secret set?

Yeah, three bands pulled out, Ho99o9, Spiritbox and Cleopatrick, but they only replaced them with two. Loathe and Holding Absence.

Honestly I think they're a great addition and will definitely be watching them, bit of a shame i'll be missing Stormzy but Dinosaur Pile-Up are definitely more my scene and I can see myself having a great time at them, I assume many people will have the same mentality.

    Hopefully yes.

I love DPU, seen them 6 or 7 times already and they’ve been great every time.

Have no interest whatsoever in watching Stormzy so this will be a great alternative but, as I said, I fear that we’ll be the minority

DPU are a great addition but gutted they clash with Stormzy - luckily seing them twice with Shikari

I think they’ve thrown DPU (and Gallows before them) under the bus.

Surely they know that both bands aren’t big enough to headline that stage and that they’ll not get much passing interest when Stormzy is on.

Add in the fact that there isn’t much else to tempt a DPU (or Gallows) fan to the festival in the first place.

Then everyone will have confused faces when the tent is half empty and everyone will be tutting about the viability of having the Lock up tent.

Only just mustering together a top ten bands I’m looking forward to -

Gallows, Fever333, Creeper, Ho99o9, Spiritbox, Cleopatrick, Badflower, Bob Vylan, Biffy and ……er……. Fever333 again as they’re playing two sets haha.

Sports team aren’t too bad to be fair so I could add them as my 10th at a push.

Thr biggest shame for me personally I’d that they haven’t bagged some of the British Reading/Leeds-suitable heavy bands like Architects, Frank Carter, Idles, Enter Shikari and the like.

    I think I jinxed it.

Of the 9 bands listed that I wanted to see, four have dropped out.

The most frustrating part is that it was always going to be a close call whether the overseas bands could make it so why didn’t they book a pile of British bands in the first place.

Happy with Loathe and Dinosaur pileup being added though. Saying that, as much as I love them, Dinosaur Pile up headlining the Lock up tent is ludicrous, last time they played they were half way down the bill and they haven’t got any bigger since. Boston Manor are bigger then them for a start.

So many bands they could potentially cherry pick from, any of Loathe, Scarlxrd, Static Dress, Malevolence or While She Sleeps would be ideal. Can definitely see any of the first three but I'm not getting my hopes up for WSS

Yeah, WSS would be top of my list

Unfortunately, this is not something new for RandL. In 2014 we bought tix mainly because of Chino Moreno's Crosses pretty much Europe exclusive gig in the Pit. The Band was removed from the poster without any explanation a month before the festival:/ I guess such things are inevitable when you're organizing a festival with 200+ bands. With the COVID situation, things are obviously worse...

I don't know if Daniel P Carter still curates the Pit. I'm sure (if possible) he'll come up with some quality replacements.
    Let's see

    Yeah, I remember that.

Trouble is I didn’t notice until a day or so before that they weren’t playing and was not happy.

It's sold out, they don't care anymore to be honest. 30k people could turn up but 90k tickets sold is what matters.

I get that but most other businesses would still need to look after their potential future customers by treating them well.Thatobviously doesn’t apply in Reading/Leeds case as there’ll still be a queue of new people wanting tickets next year regardless.

Feel like this is the start of US bands pulling out - Yungblud (lives in LA) and KennyHoopla are in the UK so they’re good to go

What’s annoying is that the festival aren’t even keeping us up to date.

The fact Spiritbox have pulled out was discovered because someone spotted it on their instagram and Ho99o9 have been removed from the poster without comment.

Fair play to Bloodstock who have kept us up to date every time there is a line up change.

    Noooooo!

ive only got 9 bands that I really want to see all weekend and now that’s reduced to 8 (unless they get a decent replacement)

    Bollocks! Ho99o9 gone too.

Im down to 7 for the weekend (would’ve been 6 after QOTSA pulled out but happy with Biffy)

Fingers and everything else is crossed that the replacements are good.

Spiritbox just cancelled Reading because of the Limp Bizkit tour cancelation. (their instagram)

Can’t see how both things are connected unless Bizkit were supposed to be secret set.

shame really, was looking forward this gig:///
