I think me and @amfy were dancing on tables by this time on the Wednesday... I'd had gin-inna-tin for breakfast and had carried on, so I was bladdered, frankly

I’d just be cracking open my first cider of the weekend about now...
I would have breakfasted on Gin in a Tin and would be well on my way to being properly tiddled by now.

I think you have been lucky. This year was the year of an horrendous fire in one of the big tents. The person you are sharing a tent with had eaten something bad a shit themselves all over your tent.
Then the next day when coming up on something very potent you slip and break your leg in several places. On the trip to the hospital you are convinced that you are being taken by skeleton doctors into the bowls of hell to have your soul painfully removed by Satan himself
When you return 2 days later you re not fit enough to walk around, you have missed all the bands you wanted to see and are left to see some very poor performance. Then you have to pack up your shit filled tent.
You then vow never to return.
So I think you have been lucky this year. Next year though is going to be a blinder for you and the best one yet
Don't joke about that. Seriously, please don't. And I was *sober*...

I'd already be there... probably sitting on a bench above the Pyramid resting my feet after a REEAAALLLLY long walk around the site, and watching the Cider Bus arrive on site...

RUNNING (and I never, ever, EVER run) from an utterly astonishingly good Alison Moyet set in Leftfield to get to an even more utterly astonishing Foo Fighters set on Pyramid.
And meeting @amfy on the warmest ever Wednesday afternoon, drinking ourselves daft, dancing on tables and ending up in Shangri-Fucking-La with her and @Monorail Riderin the wee small hours (and no hangover the
nextlater the same morning. WIN)- 1

I meant to include Tuesday, only realised I'd missed it off once I posted.
I'd love to be there for the Tuesday night. Must be glorious, seeing it all ready, but empty.
I LOVE Tuesday night. I usually get there on Sunday or Monday now, so by Tuesday I've walked the entire site, watching it build and grow and visited my favourite spots and been to say hi to the dragon, and drunk lots of pints in lots of crew bars, and I know I should get an early night but nope...
Wednesday morning I'm usually awake before 6am listening to Worthy FM and waiting for the massive YAAAAAYYYYYY when the gates open, and out and about by 8am watching the masses get in looking like they've won the fucking jackpot even though they're carrying their body weight in camping kit and it's 29C in the shade...
I love the place when it's empty and all mine; I love it even more when you lot arrive on Wednesday morning!

Such sad news. Might dig out my Frightened Rabbit flag and listen to Woodpile on repeat.

Last year there was a superb programme with stage times, band profiles and loads more (though no unicorn poo). Also a mini programme on a lanyard.
It's possibly the best planned and organised fest I've been to. Even got its own radio station, a la Worthy FM.
If you're a beer man (I'm not) I'm told by those who are that it's also a bit like CAMRA heaven.
I'm a beer (wo)man and this will be my first Green Man (and my first festival for several years as a punter not crew) so am really looking forward to it!

Elton John

I'd love to see him play, but I do think a headliner feels more appropriate that the Sunday oldies slot. He's got too much material for a start.

Happy 2018 all! May it pass speedily and onwards to the next year when we shall meet in a field.

Hi Folks
Thanks for the great advice.
Just to let you know (for future reference / helpfulness to anyone searching 'Frome' on this forum) I stayed in the George last night. Room was chintzy but very comfortable, breakfast was really good and I ate dinner there too as was too bloody cold to go out anywhere else. Fab fish pie, very good beer, great staff.
Garden Cafe VVVVVVVVV good for coffee and cake.
Cheese and Grain - OMG! What a fab venue. I cannot believe the Foos played there... it's so... small!

I am an Abba fan and I don't want them to ever reform. Let the memory remain as it is. I think they are smart enough to know that themselves.
I want Bellowhead to reform - just not yet. In about five or six year's time.
Yes, definitely. Fairly soon - long enough that the 'comeback tour' feels like it's worth it but not so long that Jon Boden loses his looks

Booked some driving lessons. Dragging all my kit on the train is just too much now I'm there for 8 days. There are other, important, work-related reasons that I need to drive as well, but being able to take myself and my stuff to festivals more easily is a definite consideration.

The best place to buy a latte was Proper Coffee at Williams Green.

Apparently I've been pie_and_a_pint since April 2008. I was something else connected to an ancient Hotmail account before then (from just before the 2003 festival) but I can't remember what and I don't think I ever posted because I was scared!

I have something very controversial that I would like to say about the NYC Downlow ...
I think that the stage should be switched so that it is on the opposite side (where the entrance is now), that way there is a slope downwards towards the stage instead of upwards
I hope this does not upset anyone.
Exactly the same issue in the Acoustic Tent. Slopes up to the stage; short people at the back can't see.
(I wonder what the Venn diagram is of people who visited both venues at this year's festival?)

I downvoted you because I think you're being ridiculous in this thread and in the tory one, your posts read like Daily Mail headlines and it made me feel better when I did it
Seems totally fair *thumbs up*

I'm just making a Goan Fish Curry... it smells good, but it won't be the same. And I'll be eating it off a plate, with proper cutlery. And the drink I have with it won't be in a floppy paper cup. Every cloud...
