Reckon her set will be viewed similar to Kanye? Rapturously received by a good many but puzzled indifference by the majority. Its noeasy task to shoe-horn her brand of progressive R&B into that field. Add rain/mud to the mix and I wish her luck.

Its a huge stretch for the festival. To be clear i'm not criticizing the artist one bit. She is perfect for WH headliner. Think a lot of (younger?) posters on here quite sensitive about this view, so will refrain from antagonizing further.
-
Im like this when people justify headliners based on streaming stats.

Where's the group of cool efesters that have been chatting about SZA for years. I'm not part of the gang but would love to sit nearby and coo at how cool they are.

"UK's biggest vanilla band for people that hate music."

Think theres some legends doing rounds that we could have bagged. UK's biggest popstar. UK's biggest vanilla band for people that hate music. AN Other. Seems they're taking a big risk and missing a huge opportunity. Think it will come out in the wash that Madge dropped them in a slurry pit from the top of the Tor.

Its nothing like that. The festival (and every attendee) wants the headliner to succeed. These are the most cherished moments, the highest risk in some ways, but also the biggest reward. The vast majority of the highlights we have and will speak about are 'Mid headliners. Personally speaking nothing beats it. Only 3 per year. When none of these "hit" its a bum year.

Usually 1:1 with your posts on here for over a decade mate, but disagree strongly. Having same vanilla bands (ones you name) headline every 4 or 5 fests is a pisspoor option. Fest gets predictable, staid, dull, old. Coldplay singing "Fix You" over that field in June is grim enough once per decade.

She's miles better than a whole host of dross they could have gotten to fill the gap and both those terry and junes are decent. Nothing there to bring the house down tho innit. In previous years a perfect WH headliner. To promote her to the Mid screams of spotify statology.
-
Seems a dud year, all told. 3 pop bands. Loadsa "b-but look at the streaming numbers" justifications. Grim.
-
When you were asked who is playing Glasters and you said "Adele" people didnt scrunch up there noses "Who?" To suggest otherwise is churlish.
-
This year is first occasion I'm seen the streaming stats madness impact Glasters. Thought we were immune, but no.
-
I don't think that would happen tho. I'm cool with her booking but her appeal is niche af.

Westlife also interested the UK audience.

Biggest stretch Emily has ever made IMO.
-
Decision to book Dua/Coldplay/SZA given the enormous plethora of other huge artists touring is a strong look for the fest.
-
Yeh the whole thing seemed deflated. The absence of Whitehall notwithstanding.
-
Fairly grim event all told. Not to detract from Raye's success at all, mind.
-
Ah cheers for clarifying. He'd be one of my most looked forward to performers so thats a bummer.

Emily needs to get on the blower to Damon immediately. "We're in a bind mate."
