  1. Bey at 40, concert at BBC Television centre from 2006 on BBC 2 now. Happy Birthday!
  2. And this is the best documentary on the man, A conquering tower of a MAN. The greatest to ever do it. The Upsetter, Lee Scratch Perry.
  3. Again I've put this up here before, but again, some things never get old. RIP THE man The Heptones, The Congos & Junior Murvin at Sctatch's Black Arc studio circa 1977. This is actual magic.
  4. The Upsetter is gone. I've hammered this around these parts before, not one of the more noted tunes maybe, but this one always had that un-hinged feel to it which I guess is what I most loved. My personal favourite, there are so many though, so many. The ultimate producer bar none. RIP THE man.
  5. Now, this is a bit specialist, not for the feint hearted. FIVE, yes five, hours of Mike Vallely. This is too much for most people! I for one am up for this. Simply one of the most interesting human beings. I'm more than happy to listen to get FIVE hours (in spurts ) Good News.
  6. One the most personal tunes anyone has ever sung. Exceptional. (Note Jessica dispenses with backing singers nowadays, Nobody else does that.)
  7. You will never get enough Joy Crookes. Her first name is Joy! and her second name is Crookes! spelt with two OOs and an ES!
  8. Van the Man is Van the Pan here. Michael loves all that New-Age Bollocks, as do I, speculatively, we both draw the line at this anti-vax BS. Sean Lock...
  9. Anecdotal evidence of nothing in particular.
  10. Jessie J. That Blah Blah shit....
  11. It is very simple. If Covid has a survival rate of 99% then 1 % die. That is 100 people from every 10,000 infected who die. 100 from 10,000. If the vaccines are 95% effective at preventing death, then 5 people , if vaccinated of 100 people die. Recap, 100 vs 5 Simple maths.
  12. I work at a University so there is no anti-vax sentiment there. It is a real lifeline being amongst rational thinkers. My friends (not all of themBTW) who have gravitated towards all this are angry and up for fight it seems. They belive that we, scientifically minded people, are the ones who have been brainwashed. "You've been lied to" is a frequent refrain l hear.
  13. I do listen to people, they are making demonstrably false claims though. I'm not generalising, but recounting my personal experiences with this amongst people I've known all my life.
  14. It is tragic that people end up hateing friends and family over this. Tragic. I try not go there, I love these people, but like I said, it is exhausting fighting like this.
  15. So refreshing reading these posts here in this thread. I for one am utterly exhausted from arguing with the weird, unholy alliance of new agers, Trump fans and Bexiters and the Piers Corbyn lot, who I still count as lifelong friends about all this. It is a deeply troubling phenomenon. I'd love to hear any anecdotes from anyone who has experience of a successful strategy that has got through and turned the mind of an anti-vaxer, because all my strategies have failed. It is like a cult.
  16. Stronger than me. Amy Jade Winehouse.
  17. This deserves a re-visit. A tentative, acapella beginning, and a fulsome, emotional finish. Nobody does it better, no way. High as Fuck, at all times, until death, Whitney Houston. What a voice,
  18. Up this late, listening to Jessie J, Jessica Ellen Cornish 💜
  19. It is OK to say that Jessie J is my second favourite human being!
  20. Jessie J, who was hospitalised with Ménière’s disease in 2020, has said she is in pain every single day. Get well soon Jessie. https://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/music/news/jessie-j-menieres-disease-instagram-b1902003.html
