Sensible thing to do (bar just bring back the big tent) would be to convert comedy tent into another music stage so you could have seperate stages for FR type music and more heavy stuff god forbid Melvin do anything sensible tho - especially if it started to involve booking more acts and spending more money

Dunno if they’d headline headline or maybe do a Thursday - as much as I love them they’re probably one of my favourite bands, for most people they’re living solely of the hype of heat waves and are not true “indie” material

He’s doing arena tours - I feel like subbing either stage is probably where he’d be - at least definitely bigger than the libertines rn

Sam Smith would be another “imagine dragons” type headliner - yeah theoretically they can headline with the numbers they rack up but it would be seen as a bit of a joke booking for all it’s steams, unholy is pretty much universally hated among my age froup

In terms of the indie artists on the undercard we seem to get every year I can see libertines, nothing but thieves, kaiser chiefs, and James all as possible since all are touring atm/soon

Like many artists we’ve discussed - Fred would be a strong MSW or a weaker MSE but could conceivably do both considering that the majority of r&l attendees are kids who stream stuff on Spotify, he’s the perfect booking - especially if the other 2 MSE headliners are blink and Eminem both of whom had their heyday arounf 10-20 years ago

In light of David Cameron returning out of the blue to government I think we should gear ourselves up for a headline trio of the Beatles - Amy wine house - queen (featuring Freddie mercury)

This is exactly it and with something like blink 182, Eminem, Fred again, and kasabian etc also on the lineup I don’t think they’d have any problem popping her on MSE, especially as it means they’d have a POC female as one of the “proper” headliners in a year where all the other acts are very white male

Doja cat is 100% big enough to headline r&l and will most probably find herself on MSE if she does. I’d say she’s as big as Sam fender here (or maybe a tad less) but obviously with a more global appeal

I agree that they’ll be looking for a female headliner just don’t think Anne-Marie will be the one. They’re all a bit left-field suggestions but candidates could be haim (maybe too small), Lana del ray (maybe too big), birdy (does she even do festivals?), wolf Alice (maybe too small again) If not they’ll stack the undercard with acts like Mabel, Sigrid etc

you’d think that a festival this big would be doing more to get female representation but none of the 12 big names here are female - really quite poor from boardies I think 3 male headliners with an undercard with some strong female acts (like little simz, raye etc) would do for them

I would say Anne Marie is sub size - although I thought that about jorja smith too so you never know
