and everyone here will still get upset they couldnt get tickets.

Yes, we would be upset if we wanted tickets and couldn't get them. What's your point?

  2. I actually think this is my favourite of hers since NFR (sans interludes) even if no individual track leaps out as a new standout. Feels more coherent, love the strings, love the melodies.

Think my opinion of it has been boosted slightly by it accompanying a simply gorgeous weekend away, but I'm already glad that these tunes will always be associated with this time for me.

  3. I thought that the launch of the tour would just make me a bit bitter, with no sign of when we're going to get a look at it over here, but of course it's just got me super excited and Taylor is all I've listened to for the past 24 hours.

'This is me trying' is in my Taylor top five so it is just lovely to see the recordings of it performed live.

  4. It's tough for me to pick between two.

2013. My first Glasto. I had only recently started listening to Nick Cave so I was excited to see him on the line-up, and I went down to the Pyramid field on my own to see the set and got a great spot. Needless to say, it was an other-worldly performance and really kicked my adoration of him into high gear. I'll never forget that.

2022. Sam Fender. My brother had been recommending him to me but I only really heeded it when the second album came out but it went on to soundtrack a pretty life-changing few months for me (got my dream job, got engaged) and I then saw him live in the March, and was going to Finsbury in July, but seeing them on that stage, smashing it, at the peak of my fandom, was very special indeed.

Lizzo is going to join this crowd this year, I know it.

  5. I like it alright on first listen, but I have to say that DYKTTATUOB and A+W have only really become earworms for me in the last few days, so I'm enjoying enjoying them more and I'm sure that The Grants will do the same in time.

Only clocked yesterday that we're away in Northumberland for the weekend of the album release, so I'm looking forward to that soundtracking the trip.

  6. Acts I'm excited for:

Elton, Lizzo, Candi Staton, Lana Del Rey, The War on Drugs, Thundercat, Weyes Blood, Cat Stevens

Even if it is a bit thin, Lana makes up for it all. I would pay the ticket cost just to see her at this point so no complaints form me, though I understand why others might be disappointed.

  7. Yes, I have been walking around singing "Your mom called, I told her you're fucking up big time" on repeat. Surely that is going to blow up on TikTok.

The confirmation of Lana for 2020 was the most excited I have ever been about any Glasto announcement. I just need to see her on that poster again.

  8. I'll preface this by saying that I cry at movies and TV a lot.. doesn't take much.. but I have never openly weeped at any media the way I did the latest episode of The Last of Us.

So beautiful. No matter what happens with the rest of the series (though it has all been top notch so far) I know I will revisit this episode in the future. Like it's own self-contained movie.

  9. Billy Ocean for the legends slot. Not a household name with the youths but his set would be stacked with bangers**.

(**Having said that, I just looked at his setlists and it appears that he does NOT play Red Light Spells Danger at every show, and that is a travesty.)

I think i'll leave this thread alone until another headliner is officially announced.

Oh god. This just made me realise that even if the bitching does die down, it will only flare up again when the official announcement comes.

Think I'm just going to stop looking in this thread because it's bloody miserable in here.

We already know that she'll play Glastonbury for the reduced fee.

Indeed, and if Emily is to believe she is interested in returning.

I really hope this is the case. I think I'm kind of on the same thinking as Matt on this - maybe the reduced fee and profile boost made sense when she was coming off the back of an album/singles that didn't really catapult her back to the top (Lover era) but since then she had her whole lockdown thing with Folklore and Evermore which got her a whole new bunch of fans and respect, and then she's released Midnights and got this whole huge Eras tour going 🤷🏻‍♀️

I mean, I am a pessimist and this is kind of my way of insulating myself against disappointment 😅 but genuinely, I hope I am wrong and she actually does want to and will come back.

It’s a question of integrity now, does Taylor honour the commitment she has made to the festival and return to play (Macca and Kendrick both did remember). Or does she sack it off to take the massive stadium dollar?

I don't know if you're genuinely posing this as a question but - she takes the dollar. That is the Taylor Swift way.

And I say that as someone who is a fan and is absolutely desperate for her to play, and am still genuinely gutted that it doesn't seem to be in the offing.

Interesting that they are seen rehearsing I Wanna Be Your Man with Springsteen. They did it in the US the week before, I wonder if it got cut or if he was only ever going to do the one song.

They did do it, didn't they? I'm 99% sure they did Glory Days and I Wanna Be Your Man.
