  1. For anyone on the fence, you can catch her full MITA set here:

I don't want to spoil the whole thing but I just skipped through a few moments to satisfy my curiosity. It is clear she is still SO nervous performing live, and I found the backing track use at some points to be off-putting, but it's also clear how she very much grows in confidence as the set goes on. Genuinely I am lying here in tears in bed right now cause of how close to (I think, happy?) tears she is when she sees how the crowd respond to her starting DYKTTATUOB.

I can only hope her crowd at Glasto is as dedicated as this lot. I know I'll be right there singing every fucking word.

  2. I chose the bottom option - not got an issue with the "drug heads" as it put it, but it's just not the genre for me. I will go down there this year but it just doesn't really factor in as a big part of my festival. The "specific acts" might have been the option I should have gone for, but they are few and far between that land down there.

  3. Actual LOL at the Ice Spice remix.

"Pay no attention to the boyfriend [who made racially insensitive and misogynistic comments about this artist mere months ago] behind the curtain - here is more music!"

    Taylor.. the mastermind indeed.

  4. The year we want again is 2017. Yes it was a bit too hot for setting up on Wednesday, but after that it was perfect. Few teeny tiny showers to keep the dust down, not too hot, not chilly at all. Repeat of that, please.

I would love her to include Love from LFL, it's my absolute fave

I'd love that too. I'd welcome a whole lot of LFL- 13 Beaches would be a treat, too.

Really no clue how it's going to go - I seem to recall she used to have a reputation for leaning heavily on her earlier stuff, but she's released so much since last touring that could now be completely different. I could live without The Grants, or LMLYLAW, but to be honest as long as Lana is on that stage and singing some tunes I'm going to be happy.

I wouldn't say there is any consensus, or even likely to be any solid indications forthcoming ahead of time. Obviously in past years EE were excellent, and Vodafone were poor but not the worst. At this point though all past form is irrelevant.

Voda do now have more access to the festival than before and more incentive to beef up coverage, but given their lack of experience it's possible (or even likely) they underestimate the scale of the task. Whereas EE definitely know how to do it right - but without the contract they may not have the incentive to invest the necessary money, and even if they do still make the effort the quality could be hit if they're unable to put masts in prime spots anymore.

Guess we're just going to have to see how it pans out.

Thanks, yeah that's kinda what I thought re. the not really knowing. I've gone for the cheap Lebara SIM deal as shared in this thread (thanks everyone) and can only imagine that will have to be better than the absolute shit all service with Three, whatever the case!

  7. I've not done it yet but if Lizzo weren't in the slot she is, I'd be doing this for Lana on the Other stage this year. As it is though I am not going to give up another great show and experience elsewhere on site, just for a good spec.

  8. Unsure if this has been posted elsewhere, but DJ Yoda's set is going to be on Friday. Depending on the time of that that might be the answer to my Friday evening gap.

It was the entry in 2016. Absolute chaos, I had to walk up a hill to the gate, D maybe, was the only time I'd gone in that way.

Carts abandoned left right and centre, wheels falling off everywhere.

The only time I considered just giving up and going hope while in the depths of the queue despair

I also went up that hill was like a secne out of a ww2 film was horrendous, made it to pylon and put up my tent in the rain got inside soaked and wondered if it was worth it all

Oh my god, I'd blocked that out! 😂 key memory unlocked. And that was a year when a friend and I had to do a second trip to the car, so I lived that nightmare TWICE.

  10. I've loved the atmosphere here in Liverpool all week, I really hope everyone who has visited has had a wonderful time here.

We went to a viewing party at a bar in town. Great fun, best night out I've had in ages - little bit of the spirit of Glasto, I think, with purely good vibes and friends for the evening being made just by a a catch of the eye. The place went OFF for Finland - think we were all a bit gutted they didn't take it home.

Bey was going on a tour to promote a singular album so thats the focus. Taylor decided to do a greatest hits tour while also performing material that hadnt been played live. Theyre very much diff things. And now when Madonna gets her tour going thats the next comparison since its labeled greatest hits?

Beyonce didnt even follow the regular promotional cycle for this album and now it seems that its a shock she didnt play more old songs. I mean come on. Ya'll had your chances to see her play your apparent faves. On you for not going.

Maybe everyone should be glad Bey is doing the tour even while recovering from the injury. But that just seems too difficult to do the obvious.

Did you even read the post you are responding to? Or are all of your senses muddied by the sneering condescension that oozes from every one of your posts?

  12. Thanks for your thoughts on the Dublin shows over the weekend @-TLR-. Reflections on the Sunday show have been niggling at me all week, and you tapped into right where I'm at with them I think. As I said the other day, I'm glad I'm seeing him again next month - because it might be the last time, but also maybe because I'm kind of hoping that show on Sunday wouldn't be my last live impression of him? The band were tight. He is a septuagenarian. It's incredible how he can still put on the show that he does. But some of the choices in the setlist were not the one, for me. It wasn't helped by the crowd around me very much only being there for the encore hits, but that energy could have been better distributed throughout the show in place of - as noted, Nightshift, or Kitty's Back (and I say this as someone who loves the first two albums, and NYC Serenade is my #1 Bruce tune. What I wouldn't give to hear that...)

I was very aware that it had been seven years(!) since I last saw him, having seen him four times over the preceding four years, but I guess I wasn't prepared for it to feel so different than it had back then. I dunno. My adoration of Bruce is intensely personal, and I tend to try not to talk about him to anyone because I just can't do it without sounding like a dick.

  14. I just watched a few minutes of Calvin's set on the stream and the only word I can think of is that it's.. uncanny. Like I can see shots of the crowd having a good time and singing along but with absolutely no crowd noise in the mix, it just feels like it isn't even live at all. Just a really odd thing.
