  1. get security to roam the campsites and threaten people who leave their tents on the last day? and get the circa 2008 scary Reading Fest security to do it (I was once threatened to be kicked out, but I would be going "straight to a&e" I was told!)

    its not a perfect solution.

I'd like to see EM try to get a ticket to feel the frustration (And Zoe Ball for that matter as she's constantly gobbing off about going).

seem to remember reading / watching something where she mentioned they try for tickets on the day as well to see how its working

    Me too.

Or that was my coping strategy!

agreed! first boomtown I've missed in years (I think only 1 other year since 2012) and both of the years I missed have been awful weather.

although I say this whilst shedding a single thug tear of regret..

If he actually stuck to his guns then maybe. But Download is way more corporate and bourgeois (to use his word) than Glastonbury. I mean, yurts are one thing, but Download has its own hotel. And lots of advertising. And other nonsense. And they didn't have any issue playing there.

I love Maiden, but on that front he's a bit of a bellend.

EDIT: Here we go, these were the options for Download 2019. Could have sworn they were advertising an on site hotel when I went in '16, but maybe not. Reckon the point still stands when you can get a luxury yurt in the Metal Meadow though

Yeah agreed, I think its the BBC coverage side he's probably seen and is averse to as its usually so vanilla - and I think you'd struggle to find any major festival (in the UK at least) that doesn't have some sort of 'luxury' option these days tbh.

I think he needs to suck it up and have a word with ME, would be an epic set im sure.

  5. all in for Slipknot. was about to ask about Iron Maiden but a quick google came back with;

Iron Maiden’s Bruce Dickinson has vowed never to bring his band to Glastonbury Festival after dismissing it as “the most bourgeois thing on the planet”.

The heavy metal group’s frontman will not be following Metallica to a headline slot anytime soon because in Dickinson’s eyes, the Worthy Farm music extravaganza has become too mainstream.

“Personally I have no interest in going to Glastonbury,” he told the Daily Star. “In the days when Glasto was an alternative festival it was quite interesting, but anywhere Gwyneth Paltrow goes and you can live in an air-conditioned yurt is not for me.”

  6. anyone get one of these bags? I was carrying our big collapsible water bottle around and heard a guy shouting "free bags!" so I grabbed one to store it in, didn't clock I was advertising free period products for a good hour.

edit: I carried it around after the fact, I was just ignorant to it up until that point!

That's mean- what kind of person has so little empathy that they decide to take a photo of someone who's had an accident, then decide to put it on the Internet - it's my worst nightmare!

I hate that about life nowadays, you just know in your worst moment some dick head will photograph it and shove it on the Internet

agreed! they seemed like nice guys though and I haven't seen it "on the internet" so hopefully not widely shared.

Also remember seeing a girl get shit on by the seagulls near the park on the Friday, gave her my last tissue to clean it off - got shat on about 30 seconds later myself - reverse karma?

  8. just had a read through here and remembered our campsite neighbours had a photo of a girl who had shit herself in the toilet queue one morning (denim shorts). he said "that's going straight on the internet".

  9. Saturday was definitely a bit intense - we got back to the tent around 7am with some mates, stayed up for a couple of hours by which point it was hotter than the surface of the sun. ended up out for the day on 0 hours sleep. I actually had 6 hours sleep total over 4 nights as it was just too hot near the tent, and when you're out, you're out.

  10. Stepping up to do the Brighton Marathon this year, went for about a 7km run on Sat which was surprisingly alright. (probably due to average 50k steps per day at glasto)

Considered the adidas city run 10k on sunday but its £40, would rather do a 10km along the thames path (beaut scenery (much better than Shoreditch) and spend £40 eating like a king for the rest of the day!

  11. a girl at the camp shop we were chatting to had just served 2 of the GOT cast (I don't watch it and cant remember who she said - a blonde girl maybe the dragon one and a dothraki not the main one :))
