It could be time for IDLES

Given that they tour with Pearl Jam it's possible!

The thing is that every year we look at old line-up and are amazed by seeing how low some acts that would clearly headline today are placed : Post Malone early barn 2018, same for Kendrick in 2013. I am taking obvious examples here but there are plenty of others. We must remember that these acts grow with time, and they will get placed higher as years go by.

I strongly disagree about Post. Kendrick became massively-bigger in the past 7 years. Back in 13 he only had gkmc out. tpab & DAMN really exploded.

Post isn't headliner-worthy in RW. Too small.

Posts legit info here along with Ken19. They said "Doesn't look like one of those will be there." in response to someone asking about Foals, Vampire Weekend, Idles, Editors and Tame Impala.

If you're wondering about their validity they posted the first letter of each band in the Placebo batch a day before the official reveal.

However, at the same time, they also said "RATM simply don't seem to be touring Europe in 2020" so there's obviously plenty in this industry that's a very well-kept secret

Hmm, alright. So it seems they do have reliable information about names INCLUDED in the announcements, which is awesome. But as you mentioned, it's quite different than information about other acts who aren't included in the nearest name-drop / won't be at RW at all.

Tame Impala has been ruled out by Jazebel. The only possibilities that haven't been ruled out yet are KOL, The National and Posty for the moment. It's very strange to see Posty being added to BST on the 2nd of July, while the festival normally goes from Friday to Sunday. That's why I think he's the most likely one to be our missing co-headliner on Friday. It would also be a logic addition as they have the undercard and that Saturday to attract younger people to buy a combi ticket, but they miss an interesting headliner for that target group on one of the other days.

Sorry, but what or who is Jazebel? A RW represenative?

Regardless, Tame Impala seems possible as co-headliner with The Strokes. They're quite big nowadays (headlined Coachella a year ago as a replacement to JT/Kanye) but I don't imagine Kevin is actually too expensive as a co-head for RW. He was a headliner alongside twenty-one pilots in some smaller festivals last year (Lowlands/PKP, for example), I'd assume both are at a similliar price-level: Also, I don't imagine Kendrick counts as a smaller or cheaper headliner than Strokes (though I don't really know that, just assuming) so as long as 21P-Kendrick is happening I don't see why Tame-Strokes is unlikely. Moreover, Tames new album is out in 2 days and they have a month-long gap in their US leg, starting mid-June, just in time for some European festivals. Or RW, at least.

So overall Kevin seems quite likely, but whoever Jazebel is, if he/she/it is a reliable source I guess all my speculations really doesn't matter.

Also, I think Post is a shit act. His performance 2 years ago was rubbish. And unlike many others, I really don't see how he fits with Fridays lineup.

  4. Pond confirmed on their website they're performing on Friday (16/8). Guess we can assume that means Tame Impala are Fridays headliners. I actually thought they will take the Sunday spot.

As 21 Pilots do PKP on Sunday (Tame on Saturday), guess they will do LL on Saturday - which leaves the Sunday headliner slot open for whoever replaces Prodigy.

I've predicted Florence for a while now for Lowlands. The weeks announcements would finish on Friday and Flo plays in Rotterdam on Monday. Still sticking with that prediction (no other dutch festival dates this year)

THIS weeks announcements, you mean? I thought the daily thing will continue until the lineup is done?

Seems pretty similiar to Rock Werchter, turn up towards the end of the act before hand to get a fairly good spot.

Well, last year I had to get to the main stage 6+ hours (3 acts) before Arctics show to get a real good spot, and even then I wasn't at the very front. At the Barn also had to be there at least 2 acts earlier in order to get to the front. I hope that given the fact that Lowlands hosts something like half of RWs crowd, and if some people really aren't going to the headliners concert, I might get a better view for a shorter waiting time.

There is a ring in front of the Alpha main stage, which you can enter through gates at the sides. Lowlands is not really a headliner based festival...so many tents and shows to see...lots of people never even make it to main stage. How early you should get there depends on the headliner and the band that is on before. If you have a 'the National-the Prodigy' combo expect lots of people to leave the ring after the National show, so you'll be fine just getting in when the Prodigy starts. If the 2 shows attract the same crowd just get in at the pre headliner show.

Awesome. I was more concerned about the Tame Impala show but really good to know.

The latter, so also different from RW, which sells camping tickets seperately and you get a camping wristband as well as a festival wristband. At Lowlands, all is integrated, so you get one wristband on arrival, with which you can enter camping grounds, choose a site and walk in and out of the festival arena.

    Amazing.

Thank you very much, and thanks to everyone here who kindly answered my questions. See ya this August!

You can quite compare the level of facilities to those of the Hive camping at RW, but the Hive usually has longer queues for showers and toilets. A few Lowlands campsites (don't ask me which ones) have 24h showers. You can just go there in the middle of the night for a shower and have no queue at all. Where the Hive is one ginormous field, the campsites at Lowlands are a bit more seperated, each with theit own large tent with sanitary facilities.

Here you have a great photo of the total grounds of both festival and campings:

Alright so that's what I'm trying to understand. Do I need to pay for any of those campsites, or do I just buy a festival ticket and choose one campsite when I arrive?

You can pay for an extra bit of comfort of course. You have three types of glamping (Gllamcamp) options: basic, comfort and deluxe. Basic is just a pre-pitched tent with an air bed. But prices start at €72,50 per person. Could be a good option if you have a lot of travelling to do. The comfort and deluxe options gives you a bit more luxury, with its own camp site I think and own showers and toilets, own lounge spot. Own parking as well close to the camp site, included with the booking. Cheapest option available is €182 per person right now, though. Don't know if it's fully worth it. Maybe if you don't have a good tent and air beds at the moment, and like to be a bit more secluded...

Nah I'm extremely comfortable with my own tent. Just wondered if it's a whole other camping site (again, my only reference to compare is RW).

    Thank you very much!

Been there quite a few times! Festival ticket includes camping and camping is exploited by the festival organisation itself, so probably 90% of all visitors stay at the festival campsites (also since there's barely any alternative in the near vicinity). For a few years now camping is pretty much integrated with the festival, as the only proper security and ticket check is on arrival at the campsite. Afterwards, you walk right in on the festival arena from the campsites.

Camping facilities - for a festival camping ground - are excellent.

So no need to pay extra for any Premium type of camping site?

Selling out is a bit tricky, varied over the years, with the last couple of years a bit of a low in sales. Seems a bit more of a hype this year. But waiting a week should usually be safe.

Some bigger names will definitely be added, but Florence may be a bit too big of a name. In an interview with the festival director he seemed to say most of the headliners and subs would be included in the first drop. Meaning some will be announced later. I am sure some names of the size in between Royal Blood and Franz Ferdinand will be added, at least for Dutch standards.

The organisation is trying to get permission to extend the closing time of the main stage(s) from 11 pm to 1 am on Friday and Saturday. Allowing longer sets possibly, or a closing dance act.

This would be my first time so not too much insight I can share really. The twitter account seemed to suggest that group tickets had sold out, but no idea how relevant that is to individual tickets or how much to trust the translation!

Looking at last year there were definitely other phases of acts being announced, but as was pointed out not necessarily on a Florence type level.

any idea WHEN they will post any further names? I went to RW last year and they announced more and more acts pretty much every Friday, but it does not look like this is the case here.

The lineup is awesome, just wondering if it's gonna get any better

Yesterday I believe, with Tickmaster Netherlands the main outlet to get them from.

How fast are they usually selling out? Waiting a week before I buy a ticket will be possible, I assume?

And are there supposed to be more "semi-big" names to be announced? Not headliners, but acts such as Oscar and the wolf or Florence and the machine?
