And on a side note but still on topic, Ian Brown and John Squire both grew up in a nice leafy suburb in South Manchester. :)

Eh? Ian Brown grew up in Orford in Warrington, which is far from a nice leafy suburb.

EDIT- actually that was only until he was 6, then he moved to timperley, which is alright

I thought he did a fab job (watching from home) but sorry, why on earth did he bring Chris Martin on??? Total blip that was

I thought that covering Ed was pretty bum also, but I can see why he did it and the crowd seemed to go mental for it.

I did think it was amazing apart from that though.

    Mumford and Sons

    Cardi B

    Imagine Dragons // Blink-182

This needs to happen. Although I feel like people on efests don’t complain as much as they did when I first joined. Don’t know if that’s a good or a bad thing

Any very early predections for next year? Thinking deftones and Idles will be UK Festival exclusive next year also either Neck Deep or Frank Carter

I think that there’s no chance Idles exclusively do this festival, and Deftones are probably too big.

Imma go for Alexisonfire, Idles, Don Broco

Royal Blood definitely aren’t ‘significantly bigger’ than BMTH. Arguments both ways. Personally think BMTH are bigger but can see why people would disagree. Both very good bands though but I just don’t see Royal Blood attracting a crowd the size BMTH did at APE tbh

Someone ITK on here said that they’d only sold 4k tickets about a month before the gig, and a bloke called Beez whose also ITK said they sold 2k full priced tickets. Do you think Royal Blood couldn’t even match that?

  6. Anyone think Mastodon could get around there? Like they could probably do Wembley by this point if they wanted, and with a reputation as solid as theirs, I reckon they might consistently pick up new fans even if their output doesn’t hugely improve. Surely anyone just getting into metal is gonna come across them at some point. Wouldn’t be expecting it, but are they worth completely ruling out?

  7. I'd agree with OP's apart from Skindred and Shikari who have both at least peaked, Within Tempatition also for sure, and I wouldn't completely rule out Stone Sour headlining it but that's bad times for Download if they do. A few of them I wouldn't expect also but I guess they mostly have a chance.

You missed off Bon Jovi, and then maybe BSC sadly.

Any predictions on the non-metal acts that are creeping in to the line-up (cf Die Antwoord)

I think Rodrigo y Gabriela would go down very well, actually surprised they haven't played it already.

Poppy. Although I guess she is sort of a metal act.

Also the next Grimes album is meant to be a nu metal one, so that would be cool as fuck but I can’t see her playing at all.

Halestorm were absolutely awesome but there’s no way that was the biggest ever attendance.

Slayer had loads more on the Sunday and Limp Bizkit had a massive crowd in the past.

Halestorm were nowhere near those numbers.

Yeah fair, did seem unlikely but I thought that Slayer and Bizkit were against huge headliners so it’s possible. Why the fuck would clash Rammstein and Bizkit, 6 years ago Andy, you bastard.

I can totally imagine them being amazing live, I bet she’s got a hell of a voice. I just think that their songs suck but I wouldn’t rule them out as a future headliner.

I know that the alcohol policy they sent out is advisory and not going to be enforced but it's still is incredibly misleading and confusing. I get that the festival is independent and these kind of things can help you stay that but surely there are better ways to encourage people to go to the bars and bring less alcohol.

What is the alcohol policy, out of interest? I've seen a few people complaining about it but can't find anything explaining what they've actually done.

It's not about putting the performer through any 'difficulty', it's the performer passing off the 'performance' as something it's not, and there's a dishonesty to that that should be called out.

Meh, I don’t think the people in the crowds having the time of their lives are arsed.
