    I hate this ‘freedom day’.

Instead of looking at things individually and tweaking how things can happen sensibly (tests before events) - they’re so fixated on this idea of everything going all on one day. It’s bonkers. It’s typical populism! But it’s delaying everything. Life should return to normal bit by bit. Like I say start with events with tests and masks to/from event, then no masks, then no tests. Return to office first with masks and weekly testing, then no masks, then no testing. Sensible easing.

This all or nothing, bang and it’s gone approach is crippling everything. By the time any worthwhile info from the ERP is out, things will be back to normal. Waste of resources!

The Tramlines pilot hopefully should help with that - I'm hoping for neighbourhood weekender based on that too

These pilots are nothing but a mask for letting some things happen despite restrictions. I went to the Sefton Pilot - nothing worthwhile has come of it, no report. I think they’re just going along picking the odd event, designating it as a pilot and ultimately waiting until all restrictions go. It’s not being used in the way it was intended.

    Cancelled 😞

Gutted! Can’t even be bothered booking another now. I’ve already got the Foals day of APE booked. So that’s now my next focus, end of August.

    I never said they could....

I’m confused. Think we’ve got our wires crossed! My thinking is festivals will only plough on if included in any potential ERP list. Kendal have heard they wont, so arnt risking it and have cancelled. tramlines has apparently been told it will be included, so they can continue safe in knowledge whatever happens they can open wether that’s using ERP or not. Melvin although not saying he knows Latitude is included ERP, seems confident it will be and says he will hear this week.

other festival’s waiting to hear too I guess

I wonder when we might here from the Truck team? I suspect a lot of us will be very keen to book elsewhere if it can't go ahead. Sadly I don't feel too hopeful with the likes of Kendal cancelling.

It looks like festivals are waiting to hear if they’re to be designated as a test event (in event restrictions continue to apply). Kendal cancelled because they’ve been told they’re won’t be unlocked. Truck may not have been told either way yet. So far the only one rumoured to have been told they are is Tramlines.

It's to much of a risk financially though, Kendal cancelled for the reason of not getting ERP etc

I don’t know what you mean? You said could they realistically have ERP alongside normal events. I’m saying that wouldnt be the case, I think they’re prepping a ‘potential ERP’ list that would only need to be used if restrictions continued beyond next month. So festivals on that list could now continue going forward knowing they’ll either be open as result of no restrictions or as result of ERP.

there would be no need for ERP if all restrictions go next month.

Can they realistically have pilot/test events running along side normal festivals though? The whole idea of the pilots is to work out safety protocols etc for festivals, seems a bit redundant to do that if there's other festivals happening on the same weekend like normal....

I think it’s a ‘if restrictions are extended’ then they will proceed with limited number of ERP events. If restrictions are non, then there would be no need for ERP.

  8. I’m sick of ministers not giving a damn about eroding trust, as long as they’re ok. Gove pinged by app but not isolating due to being part of a daily test trial. STINKS! Trial rules clearly state:

Anyone who is identified as a contact by NHS Test and Trace as a contact will be offered to take part in the study. This won’t include people identified as a contact through the NHS COVID-19 app or through an informal channel.’

It says "midnight Sunday 30th May" so I'm taking that to mean until midnight tomorrow.

Cheers, im assuming same just scared that at midnight tonight it’s technically Sunday. Defo over thinking it though.

edit: I’ve had a response from Driift- they’ve changed it to end of day Monday now (think there was problems with streaming last night)

Fully agree, there’ll be lots of unemployment.  Least those who want to work at home can though right....

Do you not think suburban shops will benefit though? We’ve changed our barbers from city centre to the local village one, we’ve been going to the local bakery more, local coffee shop etc. Where one business loses out, another will benefit. I also find it concerning that our economy seems so reliant on Tesco meal deals being sold - that’s an economy fundamentally flawed to begin with.

When tourists return - they will obviously also still flock to city centres.

Hopefully they have the big tent again and she's in there. But I fear she'll be subbing Caribou on the second/North stage.

Seen she subbed second stage in 2019 so i’m intrigued to see if she returns to exact same spot.
Agree hopefully she closes that stage - though if in the big tent it would be a BBC, Caribou, Roisin clash going off what folk reckon on here then?

Not really, because by week 12 we would’ve been ramping up to that capacity the entire time. When we just had the Pfizer vaccine we were vaccinating very small number by comparisons, when we hit the 12 week mark the numbers needing their second shot will be comparatively low. Surely it only becomes an issue 12 weeks on from maximum capacity?

By week 12 there won’t be anywhere near 316k a day needing their second jab, because 12 weeks prior we probably weren’t doing that a week.

I don’t understand. 12 weeks from today we will need 316,000 each day just to dish out the 2nd doses (because we have 316,000 first dose yesterday). So when you said, assuming no more increase, in 12 weeks we could half the 316,000 daily vaccines and do 155k first dose, 155k second dose. You couldn’t surely? You could only use any potential excess of 316,000 on first doses. I get that initially the numbers are a lot lower - but there will come a time (12 weeks from now) when we will have to start doing 316,000 2nd doses a day - in which case to get 155k first doses (as suggested) out we’d need more like 470k vaccines supplied a day.

We’re basically plucking numbers out of thin air - but one certainty is the fantastic numbers they’re dishing out of 1st doses now will be banging on the door for their 2nd dose in 12 weeks time.

By my calculations if we continue vaccinating 1st doses at today's numbers (316.694) until the 12 weeks mark (22nd March) then we would have vaccinated 23 million people (over a third of the population).  Then halving the doses (so 155k for 1st doses and 155k for second doses) we get the 35million people (over half the population) by 11th June (10 days prior to Glastonbury opening it's gates).

But you cant half the amount to 155k because you have 316000 each day needing their 2nd dose from the first 12 week’s. it’s almost a spiral were we need ever increasing vaccines.

or in 12 weeks we have very few vaccines to give first dose, and that remains for the next 12 weeks until this first lot are done. Then suddenly in 24 weeks we have a LOAD of vaccines and very few people on their 2nd dose.

    Mind blown.

  14. I was kind of speaking more generally sorry about the argument of how worthwhile something less accurate is. Worth saying I live in Liverpool and have taken 3 lateral-flow tests so far. I think it is worth while, IMO (like you) 1 case found is better than none. However like with the lab tests, I’ve had people to say to me ‘it’s ok I’ve tested negative’... I could scream back ‘you got your results yesterday, off the back of a test done 4 days ago.’ Negative tests do result in some people being more lax I think.
