    Don't think this will sell very well because June 2022 is already stacked as hell, I hope this festival will stick around, though.

    I want to know so badly who the friday headliner is going to be.

    Gorillaz, Tame Impala, The National, Massive Attack and Beck are already ruled.

    Anyone is waiting to be announced? Arcade Fire touring in 2022?

    Do you know why the national are ruled out? They're playing in Portugal in June but haven't announced a tour.

    Yeah, but this time they‘ll play the stadium. Doubt they can fill them twice in some markets.

    I can take or leave the chilli's, but would be amazed if they sell stadiums out. Haven't seen them in a decade, but they were very hit and miss back then.

    Don't know what to say. If they have them, its dumb to hint and and blow it if they don't have permission and P*** them off.

    If they don't have them its also dumb to hint and P*** ticket holders off when they announce some minor booking.

    Lets hope they have them in the bag and everything is cleared to play games.

    They're playing England on the Friday and Scotland on the Saturday, would they really do Spain on the Thursday?

    Considering she's announced the rest of her Europe dates were announced a little while back , what reason would they have to hold off the Mad Cool show? I can understand holding off Glastonbury because she has a huge UK tour around the time also but I see nothing for Spain ? I guess unless they're planning to announce with alongside another artist who is delaying it?

    I imagine given Billie's stock has skyrocketed since she was first booked in 2019, it was a case of announcing her tour first, and then festivals, or missing out on her entirely.

    So is it surpsiring nobody on IOW is an exclusive? Cause they normally have one?

    I think 2022 will be all about pay days and less about exclusivity, after no festival season for 2020 and most of 2021 promoters will be trying to put on more shows to recoup losses, just a hunch.

    Strokes are doing Prima in Spain in July 3rd then NOS in Portugal July 6th. Then Lytham on the 8th and TRNSMT afterwards.

    Suggests to me that they're doing the Euro festival circuit, but would they come to the UK to do Glasto then head to Spain/Portugal and then back to the UK?

    Colour me sceptical. More likely is somewhere like Werchter IMO.

    I can't see it, for the strokes to be playing they need to be headlining and for there to be a decent payday. When was the last time they even played in the UK, over 5 years ago?

    They are a heritage act already, which is why they are headlining stadiums and other festivals without a major hit in 13 years. Although barely any rock band has had a major hit in that timeframe.

    Sub at best? They’re not doing that anywhere. I know you’ve prefaced this by saying The Killers are different but exactly the same thing was said about them before headlining - and now that they’ve headlined again, the consensus has been revised.

    I'm a big fan, but they are no where near the pull they were 10 years ago. They had an outdoor show in Liverpool in 2019, only UK show of the year, bought tickets off Groupon the week beforehand...

    Fontaines will be back. Strokes normally not. But I hope that will change.

    More likely their own show? I don't blame Werchter in this situation, given no event in 2020 or 2021, they need to ensure they have headliners that will result in a sold out event.

    The Seven Stages of eFests "Strokes to Headline" chat:

    1. They definitely going to headline this year, they're in Europe and free that weekend;
    2. What do you mean they're not big enough anymore?
    3. They've got a new album out, it's a return to form;
    4. Well they would be a really strong sub;
    5. Nah, they all like each other again. Casablancas even liked one of Fab's Instagram posts;
    6. Well they'll definitely be Other headliners;
    7. Glastonbury pay how much? Ok, it's not happening...

    I jumped straight to stage 7. The strokes will play anywhere if the money's right, but seem to know their worth by not taking lesser slots.

    Have managed to get some tickets for the final. Question - are there any pubs I should be booking for some pre-game atmosphere or should we just get some cans and stay on the street near the stadium?

    Do you have a link?

    Cat 1 at 945 and Cat 1 Restricted View at 755 showing as available for me.. Can't quite bring myself to pull the trigger at those prices so hopefully something in 2 or 3 shows up.

    Where do you see this? I can't see any tickets available?

    Well. No Sunday acts. Makes me think that there‘s a headliner, that doesn‘t have any dates announced yet.

    My money is on the RHCP playing their only festival show in 2022 (expect one-day events like EJEKT in Athens, Firenze Rocks and Funkyard in Tel Aviv).

    Makes sense with annoucement strategy and lack of good places for headline stadium shows in Belgium.

    But of course, this is also me as a fanboy and wishful thinking.

    @Ken19 You got a wink for me in case I‘m onto something here? 😅

    EDIT: With Macca at TW Classics there‘s only The Boss left on the list of big rumored acts for 2022 without dates. But he doesn‘t really fit Werchter anymore does he?

    Has Macca been confirmed for TW Classic?

    Surely it's GenXers ragging on the prequel trilogy, having been kids with the originals. it can't be long until "OK Xer..." hits the mainstream.

    Prequel trilogy is objectively fucking dogshit by the way...

    I watched the originals in the 90s on the re-release, can confirm that waiting 20 years to see Luke Sky walker throw his light saber away as a cheap joke in the last jedi set the tone for the next 2 hours...

    They'll be looking at this knowing they've fucked it by being tied in to the 2020 lineup, they must surely know that people don't want to see Kiss etc every other year.

    As Jim Bowen would say, "Let's have a look at what you could have won!"

    In fairness to Download, hellfest is over two weekends, whereas download can't have that option otherwise they are clashing with rock am ring or Hellfest. They have really missed the boat though!
