  1. I'm rather fond of the Barbecue stall next to Whitelake Bridge.

And the Hog Roast just the other side of the bridge. The one with the "Voted Best Hog Roast 2003" banner, the others aren't half as nice.

And the Jamacian Chicken place next to said Hog Roast.

And the Bacon & Egg rolls from the Real Meat Sausage Company.

And the Argentinian Steak place on Silver Hayes Road.

How could anyone go Veggie at Glastonbury? It's a form of self punishment surely?

  2. Would love them to play Glastonbury but I really don't think it'll happen. Saw them at the Kentish Town Forum (or whatever it's called this week) in 2004 and they were absolutely amazing.

It's a pity you can't get day tickets for IOW, I'd make that trip just for them. Will just have to hope that they announce some concerts of their own.

  3. From what's been said in the past my understanding is..

Work on the basic infrastructure (marking out, trackways etc) starts about 2 months before the festival, and the fence starts going up a week or two after that.

The Fence takes a few weeks to go up, meaning the site is secured around a month before, and that's when the major activity tends to start.

The first traders and other non-festival employeed staff start setting up about 2 weeks before. I was talking to someone involved with the Tiny Tea Tent last year, and he reckoned that in total they'd end up spending a month on site, serving away throughout..

  4. I know that their Website says Friday, but I think it's more likely they play Sunday.

For a start, they're far more suited to a Sunday slot, and more importantly they've got a show of their own in Milton Keynes on Friday.

They probably just listed "Friday 26th" as it's the first day of the Pyramid..

  5. Officially they open Car Parks and Campervan fields at the same time as the Gates (8am).

Unofficially, you'll probably get let in earlier to try and keep the roads clear, but it's not guaranteed and any more than about half an hour would really be pushing your luck. I'll be aiming for 7:45 on the dot..

  6. Having just seen Neil Young announced as headline for Hard Rock I thought I'd ask this question and I know I'm probably going to get a load of backlash for asking this but are the festival organisers and artists taking the piss out of us? It seems that every act/headliner can't just do one festival/event. Neil Young (IOW, Glasto, Hard Rock), Blur (T in the Park, Oxegen, Glasto), Springsteen (Glasto, Hard Rock), etc, etc.

I know it's difficult to book an act because they need to be touring, plugging an album, needs to be worth their while etc but why do all the festivals need to duplicate each other? Out of the hundreds of acts out there you would think that one festival would be able to come up with someone "exclusive" - or is it just the artists trying to get as much money as possible and not agreeing to exclusivity?

Genuine question - is it the festivals taking the piss or the artists?

  7. Not tried Skittles (for some reason my local Asda doesn't seem to sell them at all), but have been experimenting with Toffee Vodka and I think I may now be about to bankrupt myself making "some" more..

    Thanks, guys..

  8. I'm going to take a crack at narrowing this down further - one of the posts says that the band playing this years Latitude but not headlining. I reckon that easily rules out Arctic Monkeys, Libertines, Kasabian as they'd all be clear cut headliners at Latitude. We've had a flat denial on Feeder, so the list can be cut down to 8:

    Courteeners*

    Duels

    Last Shadow Puppets

    Maximo Park

    The Enemy

    The Subways

    The Sunshine Underground

    The View

    * already on the rumours list
