  1. I'm firmly in the "no to wellies" camp. Having worn them for far too long in 05 and 07 I came to the view that while they do keep mud/water out they absolutely kill your feet.

I'm not really prepared to invest in a proper pair of hiking boots, so last year I just took my trainers and a pair of 15 quid Winter Boots (ie the ones designed for walking in light snow) which got a lot of sceptical responses on here. They tend to be mostly waterproof, go up quite a bit higher than regular walking boots, but tend to fit much better than any Wellies and have much more suitable soles.

Only reservations I've got are that they probably wouldn't cope with standing in a pool of water, and that they tend to be designed to keep heat in which would get irritating if it's hot. Both of which I think are avoidable even in a bad year.

Admittedly they weren't properly tested last year, but they coped more than well enough with the little mud we did have so I'll be repeated the experiment this time round.

  2. Thats great - but im frankly not interested in these artists - fair play to people that are, but hopefully some acts i want to see are going to be on the other stages.

Oh and before someone else jumps on me - ive tried listening to 'The Boss' and its just not for me.

  3. hi all, this will be my 6th glasto and ive found over the last 3 times ive been, the line up is getting worse and worse and with emily saying it was going to be a momentous glastonbury this year i didnt expect to see a load of has beens headlining the main stage. what happened to muse, the killers, oasis even paul mc cartney was worthy but bruce springsteen and Neil Young? i know they say its not all about the music and agree but alot of it is the music.

i think next year my money would be better spent at the likes of v-festival, leeds, reading.

im not just having a moan and im sure i cant be the only one that thinks that for the £175 per ticket they should be doing better for the fans.

please tell me that its not just me that feels this way and maybe post ya dream line up.

  4. Part of the happy mondays vibe is the messed up lazy mancunian slurred lyrics if you want beautifull harmonys go and watch f**king charlotte church! if you wanna get messed up and have a good time while bopping along to some baggy music then watch the mondays
  5. I'd be surprised if he was given the Sunday 5pm slot previously occupied by Brian Wilson, Neil Diamond, James Brown, etc as clearly Tony Christie isn't in the same league...

There has also been an a habit of putting lesser known "legends" earlier on in the day, and I'd say Christie would have one of those slots. I mean the slots that have been filled by Gilbert O'Sullivan, Jools Holland, Christy Moore, etc in the past.

  6. From memory, and probably outdated by now so don't take this as gospel -

Worthy Farm gets paid rental for the land, and ME takes a wage from the festival. Both of these are at below the accepted market rates..

After all expenses (including the above) are covered, large donations are made to the festival charities.

Any profit left over ends up in the hands of the shareholders. I don't know how much this is, but there was a rumour a few years ago that Mean Fiddler or whatever they were called at the time with their 40% stake received about £65,000.

Either way, it's not generally believed to be a huge figure in the context of the festival as a whole or the money given to the charities.

  7. Ohhhhh.

This just keeps getting better and better. There's more acts I wanna see on the current rumours list than actually played in 2007 and 2008 combined.

Be very unfortunate if he does clash with Neil Young, though Ray would win for me.
