  1. The type isn't so much of an issue.

What's far more important is the build quality.

A good quality pop-up is great, a bad one is almost unusable. Same for Dome tents.

What are you looking for? Size, Price Range, Requirements, etc?

  2. I think it's up to the artist, but it's stupid not to play quality material that you've got a legitimate claim to..

The case of Jarvis is an excellent example - I won't get to see him at Glasto, and the fact he doesn't play any Pulp has put me off buying a ticket for his Nottingham show a couple weeks before.

  3. This came up on another thread but I don't think it got an answer...

Apart from the Beer tents, the wine bars and the cider bus, where else on site is licensed to sell alcohol?

Are there any other bars tucked away or are they just mini stages that don't sell drink (i'm thinking of places like the rabbit hole which I haven't been to)?

  4. I think you're all probably miles off.

Pyramid openers tend to be much smaller acts than the names that have been thrown around.

Yes, I know that The Darkness were (briefly and inexplicably) massive, but that all came after they were booked. At the time, they were still pretty much a pub band.

And yes, that does mean we should blame Eavis..

  5. I can't believe that writeup had nothing about the bike. Unless it's changed, there's a row of bikes rigged up to generators. You can volunteer to hop on and provide some juice for the batteries.
  6. I think you would be crazy to meet at a service station, as the police have a nasty habit of searching people at service stations that are on route to Glastonbury, you don't need that aggro, whether you and taking stuff in or not.
  7. If you're not heading off until the beginning of June, then either pick up a copy of Q at the airport, or just print out the details from the Internet. No need to subscribe, it'll all be out by then anyway.

The Internet version will be far more detailed anyway.

  8. I'd say the easiest option would be to meet at the first service station after your routes converge - looking at the map I reckon that'd probably be Willoughby Hedge Services on the A303.

  9. Would you not consider driving and splitting the journey? I do it, and so do plenty others.

Obviously places really close to the site by will be more expensive by now, but you should still be able to get a room somewhere a bit further away from the site for a reasonable price - Gloucester is just off the M5, and the Travelodge there is doing rooms for 30 quid a night.

That way you can do the vast bulk of the driving in late evening, when the roads are relatively clear.

It may also be worth considering getting a room overnight somewhere if you're using public transport - a ridiculously early start just doesn't appeal to me, that's exactly why I stay Tuesday night near the site.

  10. One thing to bear in mind - if you're driving down Wednesday Morning, try to work out what roads you'll be on and when..

In particular, try to avoid the motorways around Birmingham during rush hour, I've been stuck in that mess before and it's not fun.
