It was spectacular to watch from Brighton sea front. We were spared most of the rain so sat out watching it. Can only imagine what it must have looked like over in Eastbourne!

Sku from Brighton. I'm Skoo from Brighton. Freaky!

  2. Driving to Southampton from Brighton to pick up the campervan, hopefully for about 11am, then lots of faffing while we fill out an inventory form and learn all the bits and bobs, then onto West CV I hope by 3pm.

Never done CV before and so this is our first time doing a Tuesday arrival. Excited to have an extra day of camping and getting settled in.

Most of the software based syncs (Traktor, Serato etc) are pretty well advanced now that they beat match for you. Well, you just need to press play at approximately the right time and it will do the rest of the work to make sure the beats are then lined up. I think that the beat sync stuff is mostly used to allow the DJ more time to then do more editing on the fly, loops, samples, tons of stuff that you can do to play around with the tracks more so than your run of the mill beat match and slide the fader across with some eq-ing etc.

yeah true. My experience of playing with it is that although it beat matches, the sections won't necessarily line up how I want them to...but you're right, with timing I suppose you could make it work.

So many possibilities with the CDJs as you've said. The looping function is a god send.

Thanks for the explain, I've only ever mixed on vinyl (couldn't even be bothered with CDs).

Ah, you're a "proper" DJ then :) I've only used CDJs and wouldn't know where to start on vinyl!

  5. I don't know how many DJs really use the "beat sync" button as it's not actually that helpful for beat matching - it won't sync up both tracks to the ONE of the beat, so it doesn't have much value for that purpose.

What is IS very useful for, is if you want to change up the BPM. By linking the slave track to the master track using beat sync, when you move the BPM slider, both tracks will speed up/slow down in sync with each other.

Personally that's what I feel that button was designed for, as beat matching needs to be done with your ears to ensure you're lining the sections up properly.

Skoo, what is the Friels cider like? Sweet, dry? I am after a cider and that is a good price so might grab 36 cans!

I'd say it's slap bang in the middle. Very drinkable warm. Not too sweet, and has a slight earthy taste which I always like in cider.

It's not as earthy as say an organic crafty cider, but for something easily picked up in a supermarket I'd give it a go. I plan to stock up on a few tins.

I also find the smaller can size very handy.

  7. Probably an unpopular choice but I had a real Glasto moment during the Foo Fighters, and it felt like the place to be that night in that moment. Great atmosphere.

Edited to add: Chic with that sun behind them. Amazing.

I feel like a real wreckhead after reading these - I thought getting on it every night (and usually from first thing in the morning...) was standard!

The hangover/comedown at the end is usually apocalyptic however - last year after boomtown when I got home I saw an advert with 2 old people holding hands and burst into tears!

For me, it's Cesar dog food adverts. That dog gets me every time.

  9. I noticed this too, don't think I've ever seen a set there, and got a load of stuff on this year.

People have mentioned the Greenpeace tree...so are the DJs in a tree? How does it work? I have no memory of what the stage actually is/looks like.

  10. Glad the house is OK @deebeedoobee

For what it's worth I'd love to come and live with you, old house or not! Such a beautiful part of the country.

Once stayed at the airbnb at the farm next door - the one with all the chickens by Gate A that own loads of the land. Have to say I was incredibly envious of them. Felt sorry for the chickens though.
