...sadly that Bar was dropped due to the fact that with so many stages it was getting more difficult to find the bands to play in it...

Hi GW, if there's a shortage of bands for bars do you know who I should contact to help get bands in for them?

I know two active bands (one covers and one originals) who will be at the festival anyway and could easily bring instruments, as well as a decent crowd of supporters.... (by all means DM me if it's not a public contact no. - I'm not any kind of agent btw!)

I haven't seen this - are there fewer in the resale than in previous years?

Well Neil's tweeted from the ETC that there are supposedly going to be 5000 tickets in the pot tomorrow, which does sound very low

I think we were expecting at least double that! Although as far as I know nobody has any numbers from any other year for comparison

  3. Have we ever had a quote of how many tickets were available in previous resales so we can compare / use as a control (ie. to see if they underestimate by a factor of 2, or 5, or 10 as a matter of course)

I suspect not, but if anyone's heard of one in previous years it'd be an interesting comparison with this year's seemingly-very-low claim

Will be trying from work tomorrow evening, & will have 15 people working the graveyard shift & I’m sure some will be desperate to help me try for tickets  just to relieve the boredom.

With my basic computer knowledge, that can only be a good thing right ? There isn’t some sort of issue with people trying from the same server thingy is there ? SEE might think it’s a robot trying ?

It's all down to how many separate IP addresses you and your colleagues appear to be, as far as the SEE servers are concerned. If you all have your own IPs, then you're fine, you've got lots of extra chances of getting through. If they're all aggregated into one IP address at your work internet server (Network Address Translation, like what most domestic routers do), then you'll all appear like one person, and the risk of triggering bot-suppression is high.

The way to find out is to get several of your colleagues to type 'whatsmyip' into google, and if they're all different, you're fine; if they're all the same, you'd best limit your parallel attempts to just a few of you (and keep below that magic 60 refreshes per minute)

Ok lovely people.....down to some work commitments that we can't ignore as they could be life changing, but with very heavy hearts, Mrs P and myself will not be trying for tickets in resales.

    ...

All the very best of luck everyone.....*maybe* see you on the farm in June.

    Rich x

Very sorry to hear that Rich! Hopefully you'll still get there in some shape or form..... or else here's to the big 2020!

    That does make sense*.

*It does, despite me having an ulterior motive to reduce the demand from London. And it is the O2, just to confirm.

Heh, happy to help in that aim! :)

Yep it is still the O2. I've been from there a few times. Absolute pain in the arse for me as I live on the other side of London. The worst bit is having to get all the way over there with all my crap early doors. Plain sailing after that (although I think it takes longer from there than Victoria for obvious reasons).

I'm trying for a few of my mates also in West London and we're thinking Reading could be a better departure point than O2. It's quick to get to from Ealing on the train, and it saves the hour on the coach journey getting through London and out the other side, which is where they'd've started off from anyway!

  9. Since almost no-one will be able to take advantage of it, I'd be more impressed if the general coverage of 3G/4G was improved so that messages didn't take hours to get through at busy times.... Completely lost touch with mates for hours in the last few years. Rant over!

Is it the old 'headline band gets full use of the PA and everyone else gets to sound rubbish' chestnut? Or perhaps Underworld had their own sound team working the equipment and knew how to get the best sound out of the gear for what Underworld were doing.

I don't think it works like a normal venue gig, where as you say the headline act get a proper sound-check and leave their gear on stage, and the support acts have to squeeze in in front of that for their sets with minimal sound-team support.

From what I've seen the stage is cleared completely between acts, and the next act has been setting up on mobile platforms back-stage, so they wheel on the drums and amps etc. already mic'd up and line-checked, and plug them into multi-way connectors on stage ready to go. So each act gets an equal bite at the PA cherry. Although, that said, it often seems that the headline act gets a bigger interval from the sub-headliners in which to make sure everything is set up perfectly - Kanye had a full hour's interlude in which to plug in his mic and laptop, f'rinstance, whereas most acts get about 30mins

So the difference is probably down to how good each band's sound team is at setting up that quickly and optimising the particular space that they're dealing with for their band's sound

Saw a tour poster of theirs with just the other two on it so I’d say Fahey’s out. There’s a new Shakespears Sister album coming out which probably explains that

Well she can come back next year and play at her brother's new stage in the Woods then...

Only discovered the Burning Hell recently, but the lyrics really make me laugh and the music rocks too. Hopefully see them clashes permitting

Yes, fantastically entertaining band, really looking forward to them

    Waaaaaaaayyyy smaller.

Its saving grace is that when the sides are up the audience can spill out all over the field.

Sure, you can't see anything from out there, but you can hear fairly well and pick up the vibe a bit (and there's always a great vibe in that field anyway)

Wait, I thought Glasto Latino wasn't returning for this year?

I thought the rumour was just that it wasn't going to be in the SE corner? Odd to put it up by Avalon though, but the reshuffling of the SE corner looks interesting... and all that new stuff up in the Park, whoah!

As far as I can tell, most people are losing their shit because she's released a cracking debut album ??‍♂️

Don't think anyone is sexualising her or anything, so not entirely sure what's creepy.

Yes, odd isn't it? Can't adults appreciate, nay rave, over the artistic talents of young people without it being seen as anything but redirected lust?
