  1. The 1975 seem to actively be taking slots that are lower than their draw so they can play at every festival under the sun

I'd say they are an anomaly rather than the rule, I can't see R&L making a habit of getting bands who can play two nights at The O2 to headline NME

  2. A reliable ticket-shifter in comparison to some of the smaller names being mentioned, plus I reckon from now on at least one headliner each year will be an electronic act and they fit the bill

It wouldn't be a great booking by any standard but it'd definitely make more sense than an act like YM@6 being bumped up; I think those kind of pop-rock bands have had their day personally, they don't feel particularly in vogue

  3. Depends on the viability of the new headliners, R&L would be silly to pass up on a cheap, reliable ticket-shifter

Something like Tame Impala would be more exciting and a lot more progressive, however I doubt they'll be on tour for another summer considering Currents came out in July of last year

  4. Had a great weekend to be honest; can't imagine how someone could justify paying £195 for a ticket but the atmosphere was really pleasant and relaxed, something that I think was in part aided by the dreadful ticket sales

We pitched up around 7pm on Friday in Purple 3 (a campsite that according to a regular punter is usually full) and it was probably 3/4ths empty; there was also barely any congestion on any of the paths, even after headliners

Definitely made for a very easy-going festival experience, would have been happy to pay £50/60 for the weekend and will definitely look out for cheap tickets in the future

  5. Managed to win tickets and after looking through the line-up again I am actually incredibly excited

Everything there is naff and there is no way I'd pay to go but footie, tribute acts and bagged wine guarantees a good weekend

  6. Also in the time they have headlined a festival in London (ONBlackheath) and sold 15,000 tickets over three nights at Brixton Academy they have only released one EP's worth of new material; if you want to see Massive Attack in London and have the money to pay for a full price ticket for BST chances are you already have and quite recently

  7. Though there is not a great deal of decent acts one I would recommend is Moon Hooch playing Kashmir Cafe on Sunday night; saw them when I went to Later with Jools Holland and they got the crowd going more than Biffy Clyro or Tame Impala

  8. The Florence day has seemingly sold pretty well; only date that is struggling is Massive Attack and it's apparently struggling by some degree

My guess is they'll release a load of free tickets for it through a newspaper a la Kasabian at Hard Rock Calling a few years back

  9. I went in 2014 and had a fantastic time; missed Crazy Arm at The Black Heart because I didn't get there early enough and couldn't get in the room but the overcrowding definitely wasn't as bad as some of the horror stories you hear with metropolitan festivals

Also you can drink reasonably cheaply for a festival by tanking up at the multiple off licenses in Camden which is a definite perk

  10. It definitely will have something to do with it, hopefully the move also filters out the Catfishes of the world

If the festival were booking mediocre acts on the basis they were female I would not be in favour of the move at all, however at the moment I can't think of a bad female band that are active

Also I just wanted another opportunity to mention Savages tbh
