Not controversial in this sense tbf, 'they' can be used for anyone (including those very clear on their gender). I just think it's more likely to mean a group. 'They' could refer to a group of songs too. This is just what I think is most likely and popped into my head first.
Haha i meant controversial in a grammatical sense more than gender but i do totally agree with you, sounds like a female fronted band

To me, it suggests an entirely (unlike the xx and Beach House) female-led band - 'they' and then 'she'. London Grammar is the first act that should be about next year that springs to mind from those words.
'They' can also be used as a singular (controversial) so could be any female act , FKA twigs would fit

Caribou's latest track is a 10/10 too!

Probably unrelated but why do Arcade Fire have their spotify page all decorated with Funeral celebration stuff? Are they doing anything to actually celebrate it or is it just a nod to it?
They re-released merch and some old videos it's just for the $$$

In billie's latest music video she has giant feather wings though that's very tenuous

I would be worried more about thousands of teenagers being there just for Taylor/Billie killing the festival vibe than lineup, if they manage to booked two most streamed females at the moment with huge solo tours .. there will be more for sure ?
I wouldn't say that Nos has that much of a festival vibe in the first place to be worried about it being killed! Lots of people standing round chatting at all the way down to the barrier for some bands!

Not so impossible.
They randomly tweeted a video of their first French festival performance 3 days ago.. ?

Arcade Fires biggest song Wake Up 'With my lightening bolts glowing I can see where im going' and it's their 15th anniversary of that album this year (not 2020 so super irrelevant) but one can only dream
Edit- and they sing through a megaphone live a la the lolla paris- 1

Ah I love festival announcement season almost as much as festival season itself.. the speculation, the disappointment, the occasional joy.. roll on 6 oclock ?

You mean staff working on site or festival goers?
Bit of both, I read one trip advisor review which said English people aren't that welcomed but I'm obviously sceptical ?

How international is opener? Do people speak much English?

Taylor Swift just announced to headline Nos alive in Lisbon 10 july may be interesting

Are you sure? 6 years between albums hasn’t done them any favours and this new one is what most consider their worst yet. They’re playing Alexandra palace and Manc Victoria warehouse now rather than arenas like the O2 on their MVOTC UK Tour. Plus, they got ALOT of UK radio airplay around the release of FOTB. Could be a great way to play those final uk shows of that albums run. Just like subbing in 2014 was.
The o2 arena seating wasn't even half full on that modern vampires tour and now they've sold out 1 ally pally and have another on the go so that's definitely more tickets than one poorly sold o2 arena.

Reckon Jorja Smith and Flume will headline second stage. Brockhampton, Jamie T and Bombay Bicycle Club will be third down main stage if not subbing. Kano high up second stage or headlining 1xtra. Declan McKenna, Mahalia, Krept X Konan all to get big slots. Phoebe Green and Joesef to look like they're placed too high and then they'll blow up just before the festival.

Any idea on the cost of a pint this year? Also is Reading cashless yet? Been a few years since last went.

I've booked a room at Reading halls for the weekend (at 23 feel slightly too old to camp at Reading now) but have realised I've booked as a student (I'm not). The price difference is literally like 6 quid but can't get through to the accommodation people to pay it. Has anyone booked halls for the festival before and can let me know if I'll be able to sort it. Can't be dealing with a hassle.

I've seen a short video discussing touring this new album and they've got these big mirrors with lights on above the crowd which will reflect loads of other lights, and then they're diving deep into the sound system of it all to supposedly make you feel like you're inside the music. The whole thing looks awesome

Agree the main stage was lacking but how good was the valley?! Amazing place, loved it!

From the photos it looks like one of those fake beaches on an industrial spot. Is there anything else to do in the area outside of the festival?
From the festival you're about a 25 minute walk from belem with the tower and little towny bit. Guessing the train would take minutes. But I don't thinkkk there's anything directly around it!
