I've got the same notification and in the past have had similar cock ups, usually when it should be in the US for some reason

Well they're playing IOW the following night so Sc**thorpe seems more likely than the US for now. I'm proper worried it's gonna be wrong now.

  2. Yeah Sunday evening is gonna be a shiter (up until Justice/BBK) just to rub in the Fri/Sat clashterfuck even more. Although I do want to see Chic. Basically whilst Biffy Clyro are on it's all gonna be shit.

Angel Olsen surely is a park stage act?

    Probably sub or 3rd down..

Is she big enough to sub Park? Thankfully have tix to see her in Nottingham on Thursday so I'm not bothered about a clash really.

I've now convinced myself it's Sheeran doing a secret set elsewhere. Which means it'd be disappointing not to be getting something exciting, and another slot to avoid.

I can't see this "big secret" they've managed to keep for six months being a second set from somebody already on the bill.

Gaga or something we don't consider massive such as Liam Gallagher, Elbow or ATCQ imo.

  5. Two most likely things for me are:

    1. Something underwhelming (size-wise) such as Elbow, Liam Gallagher or ATCQ.

    2. Gaga 3rd down Sunday with Chic and Gibb 4th and 5th down as kind of a double legends' slot (maybe where the rumours of a big disco extravaganza came from - the fact they've got 2 huge disco acts doing it back to back). She could also be Saturday with Katy Perry shifted over to Sunday, I guess.

Hahaha! Did he mean 'a play'? Fucking brilliant!

It was a joke about how instead of listening to an album at a festival you're watching the band members in person play the songs live, so it's not really comparable.

They had the first UK screening of Finding Dory in Pilton Palis last year, a month before anywhere else showed it. If they've gone to the effort to put in a whole new cinema, it stands to reason that they may well be going for some more special screenings (not necessarily unreleased films, but there's a lot they could do). Saying you can watch a film whenever you want is like saying what's the point in announcing bands when you can listen to them on Spotify whenever you want or just watch the set on iPlayer. Why are you so stupid all of the time Will? Mend your ways.

I would like a singalong screening of The Little Mermaid.

Well no because you're still watching a film on a screen if you watch a film at a festival. You're not listening to an album or watching a YouTube video of a live show when you go to see a band at a festival.

Maybe if instead of showing the films on a screen they have the original cast recreating the films in real time I'll accept what you're saying.

But isnt it a curated thing involving artists etc? Not just showing normal cinema tent films.

Oh is it? I haven't really read much about it because when it was first revealed it didn't sound like something I'd brother with.

I have no idea who Sasha is.

Sasha was the first act I ever saw at Glasto. Thursday night on the Glade in 2014. My mate who took me to Glasto for the first time forced us to go see him. We left after like 20 mins. I don't remember it and still have no idea what Sasha is aside from people on here mentioning him all the time.

Why would announcing films be stupid? Also isn't there supposed to be some acts as well? That's still quite unclear to me though.

Just think it'd be totally underwhelming as a separate area announcement. You can literally watch any film at home whenever you want. Obviously they need to announce them at some point, but doing so with the full lineup as opposed to a separate announcement makes more sense to me.

Didn't realise there was gonna be acts there, though.

i don't think they'll cram 3 area announcements and the full lineup announcement into the next 2 weeks.

looking at the last few years, the full lineup has always come out on its own in a week with no other area announced before it that week, presumably to give the area a few days of publicity.

i reckon we'll get the Common and T&C next week, Arcadia (and maybe something else, Cineramageddon?) the following week, then not get the full lineup until the week after that, probably the Tues 30th/Wed 31st/Thurs 1st.

But the area announced in the same week would get the same amount of publicity as usual? There's normally one announced Mon/Tue and another announced Thu/Fri at this point, isn't there?

This week Leftfield had stopped getting any publicity by the time Unfairground was announced. If, the week after next, Arcadia announce on the Mon/Tue, then the full lineup dropping on Thu/Fri wouldn't hinder their publicity any more than another area announcing on Thu/Fri would.

That being said, I don't think it's impossible that we'll get an extra area announcement (Cinema thing, West Holts, Beat Hotel) with the full thing coming out in the final week for May. Maybe they'll use the fact they're ahead of schedule at the moment to give one or two more areas their bit of exposure.

Not sure how an announcement for the cinema thing would work, though? There won't be any acts on there and an announcement of films being shown would be a bit stupid. Could obviously see then releasing more info on the area separately from the big announcement but I doubt that would count to then as an area announcement.

  12. Those tour dates are so perfect. I move down south (Southampton) on either the 23rd or 24th September, and don't start uni until the 28th, and one of the London gigs is on my birthday.

The National. Hammersmith Apollo. 2609. Easy.

Actually I was talking about The Big Secret in the pub with a mate, and someone walked past and hissed "It's Depeche Mode, trust me." but was then gone before we could tie him to a chair and cross-examine. Not my *first* choice out of those we've discussed, but it'd make a lot of people happy (and People are People, as we know)

They've said they're not doing it and it would mean them playing shows on consecutive nights, which they're not doing once on their tour. It isn't Depeche Mode.

She's said they'll be doing something to celebrate the anniversary of the Park, but nothing about it being in the Park.

Unless they can do something to overcome MDC's H&S concerns, there won't be any big acts on the Park stage. That would mean closing off the hill, which they can't really do. Ergo, no big bands on at the Park.

They're going to celebrate the anniversary of the Park on a stage that isn't the Park? Gorillaz (or anyone else) secret set on the Pyramid to celebrate 10 years of the Park Stage? Any celebrations of the Park's anniversary will be in the Park.

    Park.

    Anderson Park.

Doesn't sound like a word anymore.

  14. Hope that means Arcadia is imminent. Was expecting a late night area to announce along with Leftfield this week. Think we've already had things suggesting The Common and T&C are close to announcing, though, so could be any tomorrow I guess (if we get one).
