Reminds me of this happening at Reading but with a worse outcome. I was there that year and it was pretty terrible for all involved, mostly the poor band who just wanted to play music. We all thought the same - days without social media and no newspapers confirming anything.

On dear, sounds quite chaotic for all concerned! Nowadays you could just google the FFers and you would know it was some random small band!

I always like to go to a TBC set but I don't think I can recall a single one where the act that came out was different from what I was expecting.
Having said that I did trek up to the park on a rumout of a Secret set as the Cat Power timings seemed to finish earlier than usual.
A big crowd turned up and stood about for a while before realizing nowt was happening!
Managed to catch the end of Mumfords so all round a bad end to the night!
-
I used to go there a lot but nowadays my feckin feet hurt too much by then so the stamina is not there!
2009 was peak SE corner for me, got lost in those alleyways and micro venues till the early hours. Places like fish and tits and the kareoke one.
Enjoyed it last year round the Nomad stage bit which had some space to move.
I think I would like Block 9 a bit more so need to make the effort to get in there a bit more.

Going to pack light AF this year. Nothing will make the cut to get in the big unless strictly neccesary. Fed up of lugging in stuff I don't need!

- Enjoy a Growler or Big Dog
- Queue up for, but fail to get into the Secret Piano Bar
- Queue up for, but give up before getting into the Rabbit Hole
- Drop something valuable into a toilet
- Lose an item of footwear in deep mud
- Forget seeing bands, but go and listen to cheesy music in a bar and end up joining a conga line (aye aye aye).
- Forget where your tent is because you remembered an eye-catching flag nearby that has since been removed...
- Forget to lock the cubicle door and have it opened by a stranger mid-shit.
Not sure I'm getting this, but all things that have happened to me and / or friends.
Sad that the growler stand is no longer there so new attendees will never be able to sample the delights one of Pauline Fowlers finest!

Will keep an eye on this thread. Usually go for Sainsburys House which is 13 quid for three bottles worth and not too bad but maybe time for an upgrade!

Random question but if anyone still has access to the lineup from last year can you tell me who was on the NOMAD stage in Shangrai La at around 00:45 on the Fri night? We had a great time dancing to it and would love to track same DJ down again this year but no idea who it was. Thanks in advance
Well I have some pics from around 1.30am on Friday and there were two ladies on the decks ( but i don't know who they were!)

Anyone seen a Leftfield live show recently? Seen them a few times over the years but wondering what they are like now in terms of guest vocalists, live musicians; visuals etc or if it is more of a knob twiddling scenario ?

I have a question, as I don't really get to watch many DJ sets throughout the year... do they have a standard kind of set list for a set like arcadia or will they just go rogue? Whenever I make the effort to see DJs I like at festivals they end up doing a load of random stuff and it's not what I expect. What am I missing?
Like...Shy FX has some of my favourite songs of ALL TIME up his sleeve. But how likely is it that he's gonna actually do them...? I wanna hear the bangers!!
Pretty sure I saw Jackmaster play Darude - Sandstorm on the spider one year!
Would be good to see some more fun party type sets rather than the serious business techno types i have seen there in recent years

Wasn't it Billie Eilish
I don't think they usually choose the headliner so I wouldn't have thought it would be Elton.
I think it was Wet Leg - Wet Dream.
I can't remember many of the over the years apart from maybe Foals and 2 door cinema club maybe?

I’m expecting £6-£7 a pint (£6 at creamfields last year) but will be bringing some beer, DMF & coke and some spirits. But that will be for the 1st couple of days - if we can keep it coolish.
I’m still expecting to be spending up to £100 per day.
based on your experience, is everywhere contactless now? Or should I also take some cash? Most places are contactless, worth taking some cash in case issues with payment systems although there are cashpoints there.

£8 a pint. Fuck that.
I feel like the rise of contactless has made people a bit more immune to the terrible beer prices nowadays.
You'd think twice about handing over 32 quid cash for a round but with contactless it doesn't hit until you check you account the following week!

8 quid would be a safe bet I would say
Mad innit, fortunately the one thing that has not gone up too much is supermarket booze!
Maybe I'll give breakfast a miss and then I can afford an extra lager.
Luckily I don't need to buy anything for camping etc as got enough stuff over the years and live fairly close but still looking £700 all in!
-
Tricky one really, Im keen to travel light but the price of food and and beers means it might be better to take more in.
I wonder what we will be looking at for a pint of the Brooklyn lager, 7 quid maybe?
-
I feel like the yearly Glasto BBC song could be something the Glasto Thingy could document!
-
Now we have to guess what music they will use on it, was it Wet Leg last time?
-
Well I have just been reading about the forthcoming “African Plume"
Its going to be a roaster my glasto friends..

I used to hate wellies but then i bought some hi end Lowther ones and they a dream to wear in the mud.
With the walking boots i imagine the mud to get stuck in the laces or in the gaiters or whatever and be a nightmare to get on or off!
I feel like the walking boots fans probably enjoy wearing them in non walking scenarios as well like going to the shops/pub etc. Probably a tarp hat or two in the mix as well👀 (not that there is anything wrong with above i might add)
Also it will be sunny so no need to worry !
What is the "spirit of Glastonbury"?

There are a few things that make Glasto different and add to the atmosphere and Glastonbury spirit for me.
The site location is a big part of it. You become totally immersed in a different world and different way of living for a few days. For example at Reading you can see the outside world from the festival site but look around at the farm and its mostly countryside. It feels like you are in a different place physically and mentally and it becomes its own functioning society and ecosystem which you are part of for a few days.
Maybe humans at heart can be mostly nice, respectful and friendly when they leave the stresses of the outside world and come together with a shared purpose for a few days.
There are rules in place but Glasto has become a very safe place and is pretty much self policing in that you don't see too much in the way of trouble or bad behavior (tent burglars not withstanding)
I think some of this is down to the mix of people of different ages and also from all different corners of the UK and the world. You get the energy of younger crowds but also the older Glastonbury veterans who can bring a bit more of a sensible vibe to proceedings. (Big generalisation I know but you don't get the Leeds/reading blowing up toilets and setting fire to stuff type behavior!)
Without sounding like an old hippy a few trips to the farm can change peoples way of thinking and they can carry this to the outside world and maybe make some positive changes based on their experience.
So really for me its about trying to be nice and respectful to others and creating a vibe of positivity where people can lose the cynicism that can build up in the real world leading to people acting in a generally sound fashion.
Can make it quite hard to make the transition back into real life though
(Along with the sleep deprivation/drug booze comedown!)
