  1. Maybe it comes down to their manager but honestly I'm kinda surprised they've ever been big enough to sub the Other or headline West Holts. Tho I'm all for it, of course.

A guy I know who lives down Somerset way went to a do recently at one of the posh hotels near the festival site. He said he got talking to the owner who said that he had taken a booking for the festival weekend from a headliner band but was a bit worried as the band who made the booking had a bit of a reputation back in the day for trashing hotels. Made me wonder if it could be GnR.

Roger Daltrey is signed to Polydor tbh.

They are massive. Among metal fans. Hence how they could and do headline Download. They'd get an awful lot of bemused looks on the Pyramid stage.

Regards Polydor - these are the only ones on their site who could headline. The 1975 seem the most likely of that lot.

    Eminem

    Guns N Roses

    Kendrick Lamar

    Lady Gaga

    Madonna

    The 1975

    The Rolling Stones

The 1975 are headlining Reading and Leeds. And they haven't been booked for Glastonbury according to their manager.

Maroon 5 and Clapton are more likely than them.

Resting on a jet, no matter how top of the range, is not the same as resting on land. The guy is 77 and flying back from Phoenix would be tiring for anyone. I'm sure Macca could play Saturday if that was the only option, but I think The Cure would happily do back to back dates in this instance. I'm not being funny, but The Cure doing Glastonbury in 2019 is a massive coup for them so I doubt they will turn their nose up at back to back shows given the enormity of the gig.

Even if this luxury aircraft is in fact a shitbox, he still has 48 hours in the UK before showtime.

Then you have The Cure, in their sixties themselves, finishing a few-hour set in Belgium less than 24 hours before showtime and they can fit all their rest into that - despite them deliberately spacing all their other festival dates out?

Were The YYY's an exclusive? Don't recall them playing anywhere else this year.

I don’t think they were claimed as one but they didn’t end up playing anywhere else. And of course, even if an act isn’t explicitly an exclusive it doesn’t mean they have any other festival dates.

It's not quite three days though, his gig finishes Wednesday night - Thursday morning our time. Even if he went straight from the gig to the airport he'll still be arriving back in the UK late Thursday/early Friday. That's less than 48 hours to get ready if he's playing Saturday night.

What do you mean ‘get ready’ though? What’s he doing in the UK that he’s not doing on a top-of-the-range private jet?

Shit jokes aside, I can’t actually remember it being bad - which is one-up from Right Thoughts... - but also I deleted it from my library and I only do that with albums I don’t wanna listen to again. I probably will now you’ve mentioned it though.

Well it gives Macca a bit more time to recover from the end of his US tour on the Wednesday, and he's a classic last-night headliner for the Sunday-ticket locals!

He already has nearly three days to recover if he plays Saturday. Whereas The Cure seem to be avoiding back-to-back shows in different countries on their tour. I’d go as far as to say Macca is Saturday or nowt - he played Saturday last time and Muse played Sunday so I don’t think treating the locals was such a concern at that point.

He didn't say Pyramid, just that they were in talks to play the festival. His subsequent posts don't give much cause to believe him, but it remains a very odd thing indeed to have invented.

Re APE, were any of their acts promoted as exclusives last year?

That’s really odd, I could’ve sworn Pyramid was mentioned and that’s why it never really went anywhere. Throw us the link to the post.

And there were some exclusives like “only UK show of 2018” for The National at least. Don’t think they really claimed anything on the undercard.

not sure AEG have enough festies to offer to put that sort of restriction onto a not-headline act.

And the way the APE press release was worded suggested that Hot Chip will be doing a number of festival shows.

Could they offer promoter-based restrictions though? Like they could do Glasto and Bluedot but no Live Nation?

Probably means they're the same size as they've been for years.  I'd say headlining JP, WH, subbing Other and supporting Chems are all pretty much in the same ballpark.

Pretty much. Although I think there are bigger acts in the ring for subbing the Other too, so maybe bumped down one or two. Doesn’t matter though - a great evening set can set your night off the right way and avoid all the clashes.
