Does anyone know how hard it'll be to get from stage 2 to 1 for a headliner, Deeehunter over to AM etc?

It's kind of next to each other. Shouldn't take more than 5 minutes. Usually it's quite easy to get a decent spot in front of Stage 1 if you're there only a couple of minutes before the shows start.

    Iceland Airwaves 2018

    07.-10.11.2018 Reykjavik

    http://icelandairwaves.is/

    Lineup: http://icelandairwaves.is/line-up/

After financial losses in the past the festival was taken over by a new owner. The official program is now one day shorter than in previous years, but with all the offvenue program that most probably will happen you might not even feel it. This year will be the 20th anniversary and initially there was a big anniversary event announced. If it will still happen after the new owner took over isn't certain, but probable.

    Confirmed so far:

Fever Ray (SE), Rejjie Snow (IE), Superorganism (UK), Cashmere Cat (NO), Tommy Cash (EE), Mammút, Júníus Meyvant, Vök, Agent Fresco, Alma (FI), Amabadama, Auður, Av Av Av (DK), Axel Flovent, Bedouine (US), Between Mountains, Blood Orange (US), Bríet, Ceasetone, Cyber, Descartes A Kant, Floni, Fontaines D.C. (IE), Gaffa Tape Sandy, Girl Ray (UK), Girlhood (UK), GKR, Hak Baker (UK), Hatari, Hildur, Himbrimi, Hórmónar, Hugar, Husky Loops (UK), Jade Bird (UK), Jarami (SE), JMSN (US), Jockstrap (UK), Jóipé X Króli, Kiriyama Family, Logi Pedro, Máni Orrason, Mavi Phoenix (AT), Naaz (NL), Pink Street Boys, Polo & Pan (FR), Rhymatik, Sassy 009 (NO), Scarlet Pleasure (DK), Smerz (NO), Snail Mail (US), Snorri Helgason, Soccer Mommy (US), Sorry (UK), Stereo Honey (UK), Sycamore Tree, Sykur, Teitur Magnússon, The Orielles (UK), The Voidz (US), Trupa Trupa (PL), Úlfur Úlfur, Una Stef, Unnsteinn, Valdimar, Warmland, Wwwater (BE), Ylja, Young Karin.

  3. Stage Four:
Arp Frique (DJ), BRAZ (live), Carista, History of Soul (DJ Leroy Rey), Ionica Smeets, Joep Beving (live), Michael Midnight, Never Mind The Brexit (St. Paul UK Only Est), Steve Davis & Kavus Torabi, Tala Drum Corps, The Gospel Sessions (DJ), The Mauskovic Dance Band (DJ), Thys, Yous & Yay (Sef & Faberyayo).

Most interesting for me is Joep Beving who is one of the neo-classic shooting stars right now.

  4. Final lineup and schedule released.

Courtney Barnett will play a show in Cologne on June 13th. With the All Points East show in London on June 3rd, chances are very good for her to be at BKS as well.

I just read on another board that she'll also confirmed Utrecht... That's not a total KO (Rodriguez play Utrecht and Groningen as well), but chances are much slimmer.

  6. The crowd is pretty  much relaxed. Much higher average age than many other festivals (more 25-40). I haven't seen any fights or vomiting in the past five years. Suits the setting with proper toilets and lots of food stalls with above average food. I honestly don't remember the drink prices, but food is a bit on the expensive side - but usually of great quality. If you eat on the festival site you probably want to buy two to three dishes each day, because of the quality and choice.

The walking distance is depending where you are staying. The closest camping is about 10-15 minutes away from the festival ground and the furthest about 45 minutes (bungalows). There is also a new bungalow site, but I have no idea how long you'll have to walk from there. On location you need about 5 minutes from Stage 1 to Stage 2, another 5 minutes from Stage 2 to Stage 4, 5-10 minutes from Stage 1 to Stage 3 and about 5-10 minutes from Stage 3 to Stage 5. Stage 5 and Stage 1 are furthest away (about 10-15 minutes). All depending on how crowded it is.

  7. Four Tet most probably will be on stage two right after The National (00:00-01:00).

Saturday is usually the day with most acts, because it starts earlier and has program till about 04:00h. I'd say there will be about 10 additional acts on Saturday, plus the stage four DJ program. I don't expect more than one medium sized act to be announced on Saturday. Fever Ray is at Down The Rabbit Hole and most probably won't play BKS as well. If Ezra Furman is very realistic, because he's around and booked by the BKS promoter.

Not been to BKS before but considering it this year.  Was hoping for a bit of help with logistics if I don't camp and stay outside of the festival.  Have booked a hotel on the outskirts of Tilburg and wondering how easy it is to get to and from the festival from there?  From reading further up it seems there is a shuttle bus to and from Tilburg, but is there good taxi services as well that could be used?  And are any other nearby towns worth staying in and have good links to the festival?  Also, is staying outside the festival a common thing or does everyone tend to camp?  Cant quite figure it out from what I've read elsewhere online so any help would be much appreciated.  Thanks.

I'd say most people do camp or booked a bungalow (or other accomodation) on the site, but there is usually also a shuttle bus from Tilburg to BKS (no info on the website for 2018 so far, but I'm sure there will be one again). Public transportation in the Netherlands isn't difficult and you should be able to get to the bus stop for the shuttle bus quite easily. You can go by taxi (it's a 15-20 minute ride from Tilburg to the festival site), but it obviously will be much cheaper to use public transportation and the shuttle bus. The next cities would be Eindhoven and Breda, which are double distance than Tilburg. There are also other nice accomodations on the countryside, but with much worse logistics, if you won't go to the festival by car every day. I'm sure there will be an additon to the official FAQ later with more detailed infos about the shuttle service, or someone else here might answer who used it before.

  9. First confirmations for Lowland and therefore 99% ruled out for BKS:

Gorillaz, The War On Drugs, Kendrick Lamar, Dua Lipa, Bonobo, Dropkick Murphy's, Rag N Bone Man, Bicep (Live), Gavin James, Fatima Yamaha, Spinvis, Grizzly Bear, Stormzy, BROCKHAMPTON, David August, Floating Points (solo live), H09909, Joost, Jordan Rakei, Little Simz, Protomartyr, Rhye, $uicide Boy$, Lauv, Zeal & Ardor.

  10. Strangely from the Primavera announcement only Arctic Monkeys, Warpaint and John Maus are/will be confirmed for BKS today/in the upcoming announcement. That leaves a lot of possible additions for DTRH (or for later BKS announcements):

e.g.: A$ASP Rocky, Anna Von Hausswolff, Arca, Ariel Pink, Beach House, Belle And Sebastian, Car Seat Headrest, Charlotte Gainsboug, Dead Cross, Ezra Furman, Grizzly Bear, Haim, Hinds, Ibeyi, Johann Johannsson, Kero Kero Bonito, S U R V I V E / Kyle Dixon & Michael Stein, Lorde, Lykke Li, Mogwai, Peter Perrett, Public Service Broadcasting, Rhye, Sevdaliza, Shellac, Slowdive, Sparks, Spiritualized, Sylvan Esso, Vagabon, The War On Drugs, Wolf Parade.

  11. Yellowdays, Warpaint, Umfang, The Kills, The Districts, SYML, Susanne Sundfor, Sudan Archives, Ray Fuego, Palm, Optimo, Omni, Moaning, Mattiel, Lido Pimienta, Karen Elson, John Maus, Job Jobse, Gus Dapperton, Flohio, Downtown Boys, Cocainpiss, Bully, Arctic Monkeys, Angus And Julia Stone, All Them Witches

    ...a bit underwhelming.

    From the festileaks board.

  12. It's getting serious for final predicitions, before tomorrow's announcement: Primavera just announced it's lineup.

To not list all bands, I picked the most realistic ones and also a couple of additional favorites for myself. I added prior years at BKS in brackets.

    A$ASP Rocky (2015)

    Anna Von Hausswolff

    Arca

Arctic Monkeys (Friday headliner - 2013)

    Ariel Pink (2015)

    Beach House (2016)

    Belle And Sebastian (2014)

    Björk (probably not)

    Car Seat Headrest

    Charlotte Gainsboug

    Dead Cross (probably too hard)

    Ezra Furman (2016)

    Grizzly Bear

    Haim

    Hinds (2015)

    Ibeyi

    Johann Johannsson

    John Maus

    Kero Kero Bonito (2015)

    S U R V I V E / Kyle Dixon & Michael Stein

    Lorde

    Lykke Li

    Mogwai (2014)

    Peter Perrett

    Public Service Broadcasting

    Rhye

    Sevdaliza

    Shellac

    Slowdive (2014)

    Sparks

    Spiritualized

    Sylvan Esso

    Vagabon

    The War On Drugs (2014)

    Warpaint

    Wolf Parade (2016)

  13. I'd be really happy to see Beck and The Jesus & Mary Chain back at BKS (BKS has recycled it's lineup a lot in the past anyway).

Dead Cross (with Mike Patton (Faith No More, Mr. Bungle, Fantomas) and Dave Lombardo (Slayer, Fantomas)) would be more than amazing, but they most probaly are too hard for BKS.

Sparks are real fun and they do have an off-day on Friday 8th and are in the region, but they do play Utrecht the next day. Rodriguez does another club show in the Netherlands as well, therefore it might not be a dealbreaker.

Ezra Furman is great and chances are good to have him back.

John Maus would also fit very well.

I personally don't like Phoenix, but that's just my personal taste.

I haven't heard of Peter Perrett before, but will check him out.

Come on BKS - I'm ready.

  14. New (and actually amazing) confirmations for Down The Rabbit Hole:

Anderson.Paak & The Free Nationals (probably Saturday headliner), Fever Ray, Leon Bridges, MGMT, St. Vincent (who knows: perhaps also performing a couple of songs of their shared album with David Byrne), Curtis Harding, De Jeugd Van Tegenwoording, First Aid Kit, Jungle, The Breeders, Tom Misch, Wende, I-F, Joe Goddard (Hot Chip - live), Kokoko!, Moses Sumney, Muyayo Rif, Palmbomben II
