Bon Iver is the first headliner. Not a big surprise, but very welcome.

All Points East bring some very promising acts. With The Cure added, these bands would already make an amazing BKS:
Bon Iver, The Cure, The Chemical Brothers
Mac Demarco, The Tallest Man On Earth, Primal Scream
Hot Chip, Spiritualized, Little Dragon, Danny Brown, First Aid Kit, John Grant, Julien Baker, Snail Mail, Kokoko!, Little Simz, Ibibo Sound Machine

I'm going with a friend! I know hardly any of the acts playing so I have no idea who to see, but will probably just get really drunk and wing it. Recommendations welcome though
Anyone fancy meeting for a sesh though? Gonna go wild
With so many artists it's difficult to give recommendations. Just a few acts from Iceland which are very popular or favorites of mine:
Agent Fresco, Fufanu, Glerakur, Godchilla, Hatari, Högni, Hugar, JFDR, Junius Meyvant, Kjartan Holm, Mammut, Moses Hightower, Olafur Arnalds, Reykjavikurdaetur, Soley, Solstafir, Tófa,...
Rap, Hip Hop, Trap, etc. is very big in Iceland right now and if you are into this kind of music you'll find plenty talented artists.
A lot of very popular Icelandic bands will not perform this year, which is a bit sad, because a lot of them are regulars and fan favorites (like FM Belfast, Gus Gus, Kiasmos,)

Bon Iver for Northside. Got to be a contender for BKS.
In the past years usually one BKS headliner also performed at Northside.
Fingers crossed for The Cure, Bon Iver, plus a third electronic or hip hop headliner for BKS and The Streets as a Stage Two headliner.
-
You're most probably right about M&S. I forgot, that it was even discussed before... Fingers crossed for The Cure. Would be a nice nostalgia headliner.

Some of the first confirmations for Hurricane/Southside in Germany (by FKP Scorpio which are partner of Friendly Fire for BKS):
Foo Fighters
Mumford and Sons
The Cure
Papa Roach
Enter Shikari
Frank Turner
Wombats
The Streets
I'd say Mumford and Sons and The Cure could very well be BKS headliners with the Streets as a BKS Stage Two headliner.

Even though the poster is definitely no way official or close to a leak there are some probable names...
I think it's still too early for proper predictions, but we might start the guessing game, just to spend some time waiting for a first official announcement.
The Cure (probably at a bigger NL festival)
Richard Ashcroft
Vampire Weekend
Christine and the Queens (would be a nice return)
The Streets
Liam Gallagher
Mumford & Sons (might be to big by now)
The 1975 (might also be to big for their music not being 100% BKS headliner stuff)
And possible smaller bands (from Friendly Fires' roster): Alice Phoebe Lou, Be Charlotte, Blanche, Blood Orange, Catfish and the Bottlemen, Dream Wife, Giant Rooks, Her, Nadine Shah, Not3s, Phoebe Bridgers,...

What a fantastic weekend. Will definitely be back. I kept an eye out all weekend but didn't see any "secret" sets or some such. Did I just miss it all or was there nothing like that? Got excited by the big question mark on the map by the hangout, but then only saw a few DJ's on late night.
The only "secret" sets were the radio sessions of SYML, Nana Adjoa, Alex Cameron, Mattiel, Downtown Boys, Rostam, Unknown Mortal Orchestra and Superorganism, next to Stage 2.

it was pretty damn cracking
Yes. For my personal taste (and that of the rest of our pretty large traveling party) much better than 2016 & 2017. They just could have announced much earlier that there will be no Despacio. With even 3FM hyping it, there was too much anticipation for a food court with a late night party spot. We'll definitely be back next year.
My personal music highlight Top 5: 1.) LCD Soundsytem, 2.) Khruangbin, 3.) Cocaine Piss, 4.) The Comet Is Coming, 5.) Bully (missed Crows, though)

The weather keeps changing guys, hopefully the forecast for the next couple days will get better but it's super hot here rn. Fingers crossed
It's crazy how often the weather forecast changed and the different forecast differ all the time. I guess we'll have to wait and see on location.
BTW: Susanne Sundfor did cancel and Mozes and the Firstborn will replace her set.

and can I bring food and drinks from the supermarket to the campsite? thanks
Yes, but officially drinks are limited to 4,5l.
Gas-BBQ are prohibited.

Yeah I've got a card and I was looking at getting the majority of beer from a supermarket the day beforehand, they sell 24 stubby cans for 20 euros which seems like a good idea to me. I was also thinking of getting loads of snacks so I only really have to get 1/2 meals a day, in theory I want to spend about 60 before I get to bks and have 190 for beers and food when i'm there,
I assume it's like 10eur for a decent sized food item and about 5eur for a pint of beer, which 190/250 overall should work fine.
my run is that I've got 400eur for the whole trip but I got paypal credit if I need it
You just should be aware that you can't bring food and drinks from the campsite to the festival site. Depending on where you put up your tent you can easily spend 30-40 minutes walking from the festival site to your tent (one-way).

oh another quick question, advice on money to bring, I'm gonna take about 250eur should that be enough?
I depends what else you bring food and beverages wise and if you do have a credit card with you... The festival itself is cashless - you can pay via credit card or EC-card (contactless if possible) or you have to buy a cashcard (which did cost an additional 7 Euro last year and wasn't able to be topped up).

I am not staying there, but the regular check-in time for the resort (when there's no festival) is 3pm. So they probably kept it the same, something with cleaning and checking of accommodations I presume. Nevertheless it's weird...
I think it might be an automated mail, not adapted to BKS. Probably we will receive an additional BKS-specific mail later on. It just doesn't make sense...

Is someone staying at the safari resort? They sent an email with the information that check in for the safari resort is open up from 3pm on Friday, what seems pretty late, with the program starting at 2pm and the camping site and the regular park with the other bungalows opening much earlier... Does anyone know something different?

So they're just not gonna announce the big ??? on the timetable ahead of time, then?
It wouldn't be the first time they let people find out about certain things on location only.

The Sunday will line-up-wise be unbeatable for me.... LCD Soundsystem, Father John Misty, Rodriguez, Gang Of Youth, Khruangbin, Ty Seagll, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Mogwai, Joep Beving, Dermot Kennedy,.... Just amazing.
On the other days I'm most looking foward to:

I am curious what information is making the rumors so strong. Initial google search did not reveal much
It seems to be a very good educated guess:
1.) James Murphy and the Deawele brothers announced to do Despacio festival setups this summer (in case people are crazy enough to pay for it. It seems to be an expensive setup)
2.) Despacio is confirmed for APE in London (25.-27.05.) and Sonar Barcelona (14.-16.06.) - the equipment is in Europe at the time of BKS and it would fit schedulewise.
3.) the mysterious "?" on the timetable suggest an additional stage. Despacio is a stage and is on the above mentioned festivals for three days with at least six hour sets each day.
4.) so far no Tokyo Hill this year. Even though I guess Tokyo Hill itself might not be the perfect spot for Despacio there is space available to move things around a bit
5.) LCD Soundsystem perform on both festivals Despacio is announced for and do even a show in a different town on one of the other festival dates, as they would have to do at the time of BKS
6.) 2ManyDJs/Soulwax have been at BKS before and even did a "secret" DJ set.
I'd say it's pretty likely, but you never know until it is officially confirmed
-
Dune Rats have been announced as the final addition to the The Casbah lineup.
Also rumours get stronger that the "?" on the timetable could be indeed Despacio (LCD Soudsystem's James Murphy's and 2ManyDjs'/Soulwax's audiophile downtempo lovechild)...

Does anyone know how far is it from the Safari Resort to the festival grounds? Can I walk, or are there shuttles?
The Safari Resort has just been built, but based on the map it doesn't seem further away than a lot of the camping sites and other bungalows. Depending where you are on the Safari Resort, I'd say it probably will be a 15-20 minute walk to the festival site.
