ELECTRIC The first US band I saw live at Bath Pavillion in 1967

CRACKLIN' One of the finest performers I've ever seen live. Everyone was on their feet from start to finish of his four hour show. A cheesy but fun singalong. It's sad that Parkinson's has put an end to his touring performing.

HEY A lot of questions about the provenance of this song. Tim Rose for a long time claimed he wrote it and then passed it to Jimi Hendrix via his girlfriend. Others then claimed they wrote it and Rose nicked it. Either way a song that led to a lot. I spent a couple of evenings after show drinking with Tim Rose, who was a stunning performer who could bring you to tears but, sadly never saw Hendrix live.

VINEGAR Elkie Brooks one of the great British voices.

ALONE Love were one of my standout Glastonbury moments which I've posted before (see below) but this first clip is from Jools Holland. A great contrast between their melodic and forceful numbers.
-
SATELLITE Telstar the first communications satellite in space. At the time this tune seemed very advanced too.

MOONLIGHT

DEVIL And a Springsteen cover version compilation of Mitch Ryder's hits.

Only thing to be careful about is making sure that the canvas/nylon top has dried well before you stow it away.

I've been though tents, trailer tents, caravans and now big caravans but possibly the best rig I ever had for festivals was my trailer tent. With a double awning fitted you had a huge social area, two comfortable double (ish) beds and full cooking gear. Stored it it mother in law's garage and it was an easy tow.

STRAWBERRY Strawberries are also an ingredient in Eton Mess, one of my favourite puddings.
-
JAR One of the few tribute bands I really enjoy. A great show and a good night out.
-
OUT The original line up of a great band including Eric Burden, Alan Price and Chas Chandler (who later brought Hendrix to Britain and launched his worldwide career as well as managing Slade).

BORN Some reckon Springsteen 'didn't get' Glastonbury but I still think they're the tightest band I've ever seen live.

NOW Good luck with your volunteering slot at Glasto. I've worked as a volunteer at lots of festivals but Glastonbury is one where I want to take off my responsible head and just enjoy.

GOING Another Grumpy Gonner, guitarist Alvin Lee at Woodstock. Tickets all sorted both my mate and I have caravan tickets and we have the four we want for our gang.
