  4. Completely disagree. Saw them headline in 2007 and thought they were quite good - but the strength of their material carried them through rather than the live performance itself. This time around, I think the performance matched the material. Really strong; Brandon has become more of a frontman rather than hiding behind his keyboards. Had a terrific time during their set!

  5. I didn't think it seemed any worse than previous years? For a lot of acts, I found it to be quite spacious. I'm sure the weather had a large part to play, but the Arena and Union tents were rarely full - in previous years sometimes you'd be lucky to get in after 5pm!

Only the major acts on the main stages seemed overly crowded. But it didn't seem any worse than any other year to me.

  6. Sarah Harding - wandering around with a mate on Wednesday afternoon.

Mel Blatt and Jamie Winstone - both stood next to me during The Big Pink.

Michelle McManus - Looking very bored with her boyfriend sat down during The Big Pink

Kyle from The View - Stood alone watching Twisted Wheel and then wandering around the John Peel tent aimlessly.

Jarvis Cocker - Wandering around the John Peel area and watching Little Boots.

Keith Flint - Walking around The Other Stage field at about 10.30 Sunday morning.

Liam Howlett & one of the Appleton sisters - watching a bit of Bon Iver from front of Other Stage

Agnuss Deyn (I *think*) - watching Bloc Party

  8. I'm a Springsteen fan - so probably a little biased but I thought he was EXCELLENT. He seemed to be having a great time, as did most of the crowd from what I could see. Maybe he didn't play enough hits for a festival...but the people arguing that probably only know "Born in the USA", "Hungry Heart" and "Streets of Philadelphia" anyway...so would still have complained even had these three been included.

    Fantastic set. :P

  9. Some good points here. This was my first Glastonbury experience and two of these points REALLY bugged me - the taping around your tent area and people sat in chairs in the middle of the crowd at the main stages. It's a good job that the Glasto crowd is so friendly - this would not go down well at some of the other festivals! At V or Reading - you'd get thrown out of your chair and have your tent tape ripped down.

On a plus side - I usually go to the V Festival; and the Glastonbury crowd are SO much friendlier. Still lively - but you see far less people pissing up against walls or into bottles, and less people agrressively pushing their way to the front.

  10. The album is ridiculously beautiful - one of the best things I have ever heard. A bit worried about how this is going to translate to a big open air stage though.

  12. The ultimate annoying feature of poor festival buddies HAS to be the ones who go back to the tent before the headliners. Surely there must be SOMEONE that you don't mind giving a go on one of the stages. You're there anyway...it's more of an effort to disappear back to your tent completely, after all?

That said - as has been mentioned; nothing wrong with disappearing on your own at a festival. I've seen countless bands on my own and would never DREAM of going to a normal gig alone. People tend to be friendlier, you'll bump into someone with a common interest in the band you're watching and have a great time. I remember my mates getting bored after 2 songs of Primal Scream's set at V2007 and disappearing back to the tent. Leaving me absolutely sober with everybody else seemingly off their face. Turned out being one of my greatest festival moments!

Luckily, for Glasto - we have a smaller group who seem much more in tune with each other, so there should only be a few acts I need to watch alone; Bon Iver, Fight Like Apes, Enter Shikari, The King Blues, The Big Pink, Fleet Foxes. No worries.

  13. I'm pretty sure Placebo are one of them. Not added to the lineup yet, and have been much a dead cert all along.

The Dead Weather, Klaxons and Seasick Steve all seem to be missing despite most people expecting them to play; so I guess some of these will appear?

The "big surprise" band on The Park Stage could very well be The Libertines. Fingers crossed.

  14. Glastonbury's Pyramid Stage is quite poor (bar the headliners) this year - but there's so much variety throughout the rest of the festival that no other festival could fairly compare, really.

I'm going to both Glasto and V this year. Have to admit that whilst I've found plenty of bands that I want to see at V; there's nothing that gets me really excited like most of the Glastonbury lineup - Blur, Springsteen, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Fleet Foxes, The Big Pink, Fight Like Apes, Bon Iver....it's going to be incredible.
