  1. In a shop, the ammount of shoplifting is unreal and staff have to be suspicious. You personally should have been chucked out and banned from the shop for the language used to someone doing their job just because your an indecisive c**t when it comes to your underarm hygene.

  2. Oh goody, Mancini has implied that Hart is gonna be back up to Given next season. So like Richard Wright & Ben Foster before, England have a talented young keeper who had an excellent season who is now gonna rot on the bench.

  3. Ghost In The Shell.

Best manga in the world. Some actual high-brow intellectual shit going on. And the movies are ace as well.

I'd say the movie (which is brilliant) is high brow, the manga has too many panty shots for me to take it seriously at times. I do rate the sequel Man Machine Interface, which is more philosophical and the action pieces are more intergrated into the story than the 1st too.

  4. They'd happily take benefits away - welcome to austerity Britain. If you don't take a job offer then as far as they're concerned you no longer have to be paid benefits.

Yeah we'd get some tax credits, but the long and short of it is it'll cost us around £1000-1200 a month in childcare. It means she needs a salary of around £18k just to break even. It's nuts really how expensive childcare is and how much it stops people going back to work. Sadly in the long run we can't afford for her not to go back to work as I don't earn enough to pay all our bills and our savings won't last long enough.

  5. Hello. Grumpy old bastard here.

How the f**k has a decent, clean, intelligent, serious topic on the beauty and power of illustrated story telling descended into a load of drivel about shitting bloody He-Man?

    Yours, Disgusted of Surrey.

    :P Just in case.

Surrey, did you use to work in the Forbidden Planet in Croydon?

  6. I think there was a movie about it once that the right person is your something doink depending on how many you've had or maybe it was at the age you got married or to make sure they are the one thats right you need this amount. I just did a google search can't find anything close to it though so perhaps I imagined it or was being bullshitted by someone.

  7. Liverpool after Luke Young, thats a very medicore sounding signing. I have no doubt liverpool want to return to the top 4 but cant see them overtaking man city and arsenal unless they are after some better calibre players.

  8. What annoys me though is that these people don't want/expect more, I could of stayed on my lovely council estate content to never wonder off any where further than a 5 min walk but growing up I worked hard (I really, really worked my balls off between 18-21, far more than I do now in fairness) because I wanted my own place without the compromise of it the size of a shoe box with a door and so I could go out and drink in clubs in London instead of a bottle of cider in the bridge (I know people who are 20 something who do this on a Saturaday night), and go to the gig/festivals my friends from school were going to and just being able to afford things I want like an I-pod.

I do know people who have been on the dole for years and have tried to work but they just f**k up their jobs over and over again, they turn up late make mistakes etc. not because they are not trying but because they aren't capable so after a while they feel defeated and not try any more.

A tad over the top, all the shopkeep did was stop the kid from running off and ask where he got the crisps from.

I was stopped in ASDA once, I picked a can of deodarant and dropped it off in another isle after changing my mind and I was stopped and questioned. I told them to f**k and walked on, but I should of started screaming and crying to cause a scene in hope of a pay off though.

  10. Sorry - youre obv. totally correct re: manga & anime. :)

    - - -

Does Scott Pilgrim count when talking about Manga? It is kinda like manga right?

For the record I think Scott Pilgrim #5 is one of the cleverest and most addictive books ive read in ages. #6 is out but I havent read it yet. Couple of dodgy reviews thusfar.

Maybe, I've got a passing intrest in both manga & comics but I'd say it's more manga influenced.

I really like no.6, I think the problem is that Scott is more aimed at teens and there's fan boy hate on it because it's big and he has really developed as a character, a tad more serious now than when it started and people are looking back and going it's not like this a the start. I really like how everything get's a closing in the books though.

  11. Not quite what you were looking for, but if you ask someone how many people they've slept with, the correct answer is calculated thus:

If you ask a girl, multiply the answer by 3.

If you ask a guy, divide the answer by 3.

  12. Well,

apparently they were different (older) kid actors at the end of the film to those seen in the dreams (two names each in the credits per character). Plus... there was no time frame given as to how long he'd been away from them at the start of the film. I get the impression that he'd only been away for a couple of weeks "when are you coming home daddy?". So while Cob spends ages in the dream world(s) and limbo, perhaps only a couple of weeks pass in the real world between Mal dieing, Cob leaving, Cob working out how to return and returning.

    As for

the other point... just because they're business rivals, doesn't necessary mean they've ever met. They live on different continents after all. Plus, Saito's company was a fair bit smaller than Murphy's. I could quite believe that the boss of Ford has never met the boss Daihatsu.

  13. I think thats the exact reason we watched Overfiend to be honest.

What else would you recommend then? Ive seen Akira (natch) and though the bit with the bikes was fabulous but the bit with the expanding in the stadium was right up there with the biggest load of shite ive ever witnessed. Thought Spirited Away/Mononoke were also a bit load of overrated pap.

Just so I don't get confused with what I'm saying, manga are Japanese comics and anime are japanese cartoons.

Akira is more good in it's time than it is good. Most anime are better in series than films, decent films are Ghost In The Shell, Blood The Last Vampire, Porco Rosso (love that film) Perfect Blue decent series are Mushishi, Nadesico, Evangelion (but don't watch if you're new to anime as it's f**king confusing 1st time) & Cowboy Bebop (which is f**king brilliant).

    Anyway back to comics...

  14. Two problems are bothering me about Inception.

***Very spoilerish, do not read if you haven't seen it***

The first was the whole zero gravity thing. It was inconsistent.

    - Real World on a plane: normal gravity, sleepers experiencing normal gravity, normal gravity transferred to level 1.

    - 1st Level in the car: normal gravity from level 1. Falling car creates zero gravity inside the car, sleepers experience zero gravity. Zero g transferred to level 2

    - 2nd Level in the hotel: zero gravity (because of the falling car in 1), sleepers experiencing zero gravity (floating into the elevator), so zero gravity should be transferred to level 3

    - 3rd Level in the snow palace: normal gravity! How'd that happen? Sleepers experiencing normal gravity, normal gravity transferred to limbo.

    - Limbo: normal gravity, normal service resumed.

The step from level 1 to 2 and from 2 to 3 followed different rules, so it doesn't make any sense. Some people have stated that physical effects only permeate one level - but that doesn't work because Saito's wound is in all three levels, and the car going through the bridge barrier (level 1) causes an avalanche in level 3. Others have said that they don't have zero g in level 3 because they're asleep in level 2 and don't experience it. But again, they're asleep in the same way in level 1 while the car falls, yet experience zero g in level 2.

It's a massive plot hole that no one has been able to provide a satisfactory answer for. It's a "who's driving the boat?" moment (kermode fans will get this)

The second... limbo looked so bloody boring. You've been there, in love, building shit for 50 odd years, and the best you can come up with is row after row of boring generic skyscraper. For a film about imaginative architecture, Nolan really does lack imagination in his architecture. fuck.... should have just had Terry Gilliam do that bit, he'd have come up with some real awesome visuals.

Other than those.... the film was freaking awesome.

And the sound track is brilliant too (no matter how hit and miss Hans Zimmer can be sometimes).

  16. Don't get Manga in the slightest. Me and Nal watched "Legend of the Overfiend" in bout 94 - put me off all that gear for life.

That's because Overfiend is basically cartoon softcore porn/snuff and shit, try the watching the decent ones. It's like saying all comics are crap because you read Booster Gold.
