  1. With the amount of Aussie talent they've had recently hopefully theres a decent chance of getting Tropical Fuck Storm over. Love that record.

Would love a headliner that really appeals to me for once...something like Nick Cave, Spiritualized, The The on the Woods...or GY!BE, NMH at the Garden...a man can dream

Another belter. Saw hardly any of the bands I had intended to due to feeling a bit pale and wan, so tended to just park myself  at either Garden Or Woods and just enjoy what came, and I enjoyed everything, apart from the bloody woeful Shopping. Highlights include Shannon and the clams, found myself bopping next to Ezra Furman for that. had too much dignity to ask for a selfie though, A Wesly hung, Hayley Henderickx, Hiss Golden Messenger, John Cale, Insecure Men and the incredible Richard Dawson/ Oh, and Omar, and the Jazz guy at the Garden. Plus loads more.

I preferred it when it was more folky and Americana, but still, they could run the entire festival again and I would still be able to see enough bands that I wouldn't have time to eat, without seeing any of the ones I saw at the weekend. So can't complain.

A couple of years ago there seemed to be an influx of dickheads in groups, there seemed to be far fewer of them this year, apart from the extremely tedious group we were unfortunate enough to be camping next to in the Honeybells field, also, the fancy dress w*nkers seem to have found other ways to spend their first September weekend.

Downsides were few and not enough to put me off/ I agree with those who have complained about the bogs and showers in glamping, definitely not enough, and quite a few of the shitters had broken seats. On the plus side there was a decent standpipe, unlike last year. One pipe for all those people seems a bit mean, the numbers using glamping seems to be growing massively, with no increase in facilities.

The Beavertown beer prices were outrageous. 6quid or 6.50 was bad enough but just about acceptable, 10 quid for a pint of nothing very special was daylight robbery. I don't care if the stuff was meant to served by the half (stupid rule), if a tenner a pint is unnacceptable, so is  a fiver for a half.

I happened to be in the Beaverton bar early Sunday when it was first kicking off about the half specials...they had been instructed not to sell the specials as pints under any circumstances for some reason...the lass running the bar was trying to find a solution ringing HQ cos everyone was complaining you couldn't get a pint of anything....lol at the solution ending up being £10 pints ?

  3. were the oh sees not way way too quiet? I was watching from the back and had just come from the front at Gruff so it could just be that but I thought I heard a chorus of 'turn it up' early on? I ended up wandering off tbh but seen em a few times so wasn't too fussed

  4. awesome weekend! absolutely awesome.

Highlights for me : Amyl and the Sniffers, Josh T Pearson, Richard Dawson, Colter Wall, Amen Dunes, Gruff Rhys (happiest crowd of the weekend that), Stella Donnelly, Tiny Ruins, loads more tbh I hardly saw a disappointing set all weekend...The goddamn amazing weather!

Lowlights (minor quibbles) : Bugger all t-shirts for sale in the rough trade shop. The old pizza place was gone and the new one seemed very good at burning pizzas, Missing Hookworms and Destroyer...ah well you can never see everything.

How was Ariel Pink? I saw him in manchester a few weeks ago and loved it but couldn't drag my tired ass into the big top last night.

Hi can anyone recall if wellies are for sale should the weather turn ? I’ve a long trip and ideally need to be as light as possible

Yeah I bought my missus a pair when we had a deluge a few years back...about 20 quid I think. Doesn't look like you'll need em but I'm sure somewhere will be selling em if necessary

Is it too early to start talking about the weather :no2:

It's not too early to start worrying about it...this summer can't last forever surely.

Hopefully we get a dry un...Sunday was hard work last year...fecking relentless.

    Brilliant, thanks for doing that.

Has anyone ever seen John Cale. That's the one I can't decide on. Any good?

Saw him do the VU & Nico anniversary thing in Liverpool last year and it was pretty hopeless tbh. But it's John Cale innit, I'll be giving him another go in the hope that that was just an under prepared one off.

Hardly any bad clashes for me...Fat Whites vs Big Thief the only real troublesome one

Whats the story with Thursday folks? Looking to book flights now but should I for the red eye or will I miss much if I turn up at 6pm ish?

Depends how much time you need to set up camp I guess. The arena doesn't open till about that time so you won't miss a great deal anyway. I can't remember what time first bands are on tbh, 7 or 8 ish.

We tend to arrive about 3 and that's perfect for us to find a nice spot, get pitched up and have a swift drink before heading in for some food. Couple of hours later wouldnt make much difference though I guess. Thursday is pretty chilled and of course plenty don't arrive till Friday morning.

Edit: and only the woods stage and tipi are open Thursday (and the main food/drink area). The garden stage and woods etc are closed til Friday so you don't need time for exploring etc

Edit2: just found last year's clashfinder....woods stage support kicked off at 7.45, first of the four tipi bands started at 6.15.

hopefully the acid throwers will stay away

'be fine for a gig, the acid incident happened at one of their rave nights didn't it? It's not the kind of place I'd want to be hanging about at 5 in the morning tbh. I'm back there soon myself to see Clinic

seeing them in salford in march can't wait. Absolutely love static resistance and negative space, very excited about the album.

At the White Hotel... 'interesting' venue that...saw WH Lung there last month...good night

  11. GY!BE would be a dream booking.

Would love to see Spiritualized too...garden stage would be perfect but guess they'd have to be Woods.

The National are too big and frankly too dull nowadays for me.

Nick Cave would be a dream...too big again I guess.

Couldn't decide if there was a bigger numbers of DH's or I am just getting old & grumpy.

Still better than all other festivals regarding DH numbers though as you say.

Nah there definitely was...it wasn't overrun with them or anything but there were definitely more.

Throwing cans into the crowd...man that drives me crazy and saw it a few times at the Woods.

  13. Talking during sets was the worst I've known it tbh, across all stages. Fair enough at the back you expect it...but down the front, c'mon.

I did think it was a slightly different crowd this time tbh...a few more dickheads in attendance...maybe Mac De Marco attracted a few? Or maybe I'm being biased there cos I had to get a couple of his entourage shifted away from our tent on Saturday afternoon. ( The two extremely dodgy looking characters sprawled out on the path up to the arena who seemed to be casing various tents)
