Cos everybody hates a tourist....

I believe the boys in blue are partial to a look at these forums to identify the latest drug concealment weaze or other such misdemeanours being planned

A bit of Bob Mould would be good - has he ever played Glastonbury either solo or as Sugar or as Husker Du?

from that we need paul weller

and i wasnt there but surely Bowie - Heroes must have been an enormous singalong considering the ridiculous numbers of people there
their not full on singalongs (ie whole tune being sung back) but there are moments when i swear it felt like the whole festy was singing)
-
Watching Radiohead in 2003 after following a link on another thread reminded me how loud the singalong was for Karma Police that year. Got me wondering which act and song got the most people singing. Glasvegas with Daddy Gone may have had a contender last year in the JP Tent but the real big stuff is going to be on the Pyramid. Post your ideas, with links if possible - should help get the juices flowing.

I've done 3 years of backstage ligging albeit not for the last few years and Neil's post is totally spot on. There are a few limited upsides e.g. the only year I haven't been in recent years was 2004 due to being in Portugal watching Euro 2004 but my wife went with a couple of mates using my hospitality passes and was camped next to a big tent being shared by (amongst others) Damian Rice and Neil from Divine Comedy - both of whom were apparantly a top laugh

...are 100% playing. I hate people who do the old "my mate's cat is friends with such and such's dog" etc but my Mrs is friends with one of Liam Fray's best mates so has got the goss. Very down to earth Mr Fray - still got a lot of time for the little people.

ummm..... we're working on putting them off the idea
-
according to what they've been reporting on 6music, the 4th is Arctic Monkeys.
-
Just spotted that they've been added as a rumour to saturday night. Is this as a follow up to Mr Eavis saying there will be two english headliners as well as two american ones? Haven't seen much on these boards to suggest they'll be playing but the Monkeys followed by Springsteen would be beyond amazing.
-
4 headliners too? I guess maybe he is including the other stage headliners too. Maybe a reference to franz ferdinand headlining the other stage?
-
Played 2nd to Travis, IIRC. Imagine the indignity, the 2nd greatest British band of all time followed by every shade of aural beige.
I could see the mighty PSB's playing 2nd to Blur on Sunday night. And Royksopp possible Dance East headliners? All jolly exciting.

Groove Armada in 2002 or 2003 was pretty massive

no real reason for this post other than to get the positive Springsteen thread above the negative one!!

Of course he did, I heard it in Bacelona. Bruce played about 130 diffrent songs on the Magic Tour. get your facts straight!

I'm lucky enough to live just the other side of the Cam from the Common (over the bridge by the Fort) and LOVE Strawberry Fair. Many of the residents (especially on the East and South sides) moan about the Fair but there are loads of us who are big fans. We don't take our kids to Glastonbury so Strawberry Fair gives us a chance to give our three kids (9, 5 and 2) a mini taster. The Fair people themselves are great with the only problems being caused by the chav kids from the local villages who use it as an excuse to get wrecked and destroy stuff (making it more like Reading/Leeds in areas!! ). No doubt William of Walworth, a noteworthy member of these boards, will re-appear soon with an update on this year's Fair as he seems well connected.

Last year, my mate really wanted to watch the Euro final, and eventually found one of the catering wagons showing it on a telly on the counter, loads of people gathered round watching it. Hunt around, it'll be on somewhere
-
very occassionaly...
but who knows, a festival set will be a first for Bruce, and maybe he'll pull out more of the better known songs/singles, like Brilliant Disguise (which I wouldn't say no to).
-
what about the cinema tent ? or like for world cup in 98 half on pyramid stage thaen second half on outside screen or maybe have it on in bimble inn or a shangra la thats never busy at that time
i would like the chance to watch it at glasto maybe a compaign of emails to eavis would do the trick. i mean the festival is in cider country one of rugbys heartlands where its probably bigger than football.
just before any rugby league maniacs start iam not rich did not go to public school - rugby league is a dull game constrained by its tackle rule like yank fooball that stiops its flow and limits the vareity of games. (I do know that there have been some v dull union games but at least the sport is capable of being trully exciting )
