    Kendrick Lamar

Kendrick no-showed at the press conference too. Doesn’t feel like he’s using it as a big promotional opportunity.
  4. Kendrick is featuring on a podcast in the next few weeks to discuss TPAB. He is ramping up activity which makes me think a drop isn’t that far off.
  5. If the Weeknd is playing Werchter boutique that means the only space for Macca in Belgium is the second TW Classic date on the 26th June. Would he play Glastonbury and Belgium the next day? Also looks like this isn’t a stadium tour for the Weeknd.
  6. I get your point but the Cure sell big when they tour. They’ve got a pretty solid following. Headline any festival they play across pretty much the whole world.
  7. I think she was referencing Dua Lipa moving from Other stage to pyramid sub. When Dua was originally booked Future Nostalgia had not been released. Perhaps they see her as pyramid or nothing now as she could easily pack the pyramid field. She mentioned that the act in mind was on the cusp of headlining. It sounds to me like she is moving an act to pyramid sub.
  8. If he’s against the specials then their crowd will be relatively thin. I reckon they aren’t third down pyramid if they would clash with Fender on the other stage.
  9. I reckon Dua is playing before Billie now. May be a stealthy way of lining up an adequate step in if there is an issue with Billie’s tour. It would make sense that she has booked an event on the Sunday for Dua to be on the Friday. It would also mean Harry Styles can headline the Saturday and not clash with her.
  10. Just like Stormzy and Billie if he plays to a big other stage crowd they will probably think of him as a headliner for 2024. If he takes a year off from touring in 2023 he will have a solid shout to headline in 2024.
  11. If Werchter events have two big headliners to announce surely this is a good sign for Macca fans?
  12. Ken19 Posted 5 hours ago For my Festileaks people. Stacked was Werchter in general, including day events. And with Qotsa, FNM, The Streets… and some others who cancelled 😳. Every festival was losing some important names, that is why a couple of names moved from RW to Cactus or the wait for Dour.
  13. @Ken19 says TW Classic booked for June 26th. No mention of headliner. Hints of a second Werchter Boutique rumoured for June 18th. My guess is June 26th would be Stones and June 18th Macca. I think it would be bad news if Macca was playing in Belgium on Glasto Sunday.
  14. I have a feeling they have waited for headline bookings and no festivals has bitten.
  15. It’s in Sam Fenders interest to play that slot. If he nails it he could get a provisional offer to headline off the back of it. It also sounds to me like they’ve got the other to el pointo jump for him in mind already.
  16. Royal Blood bit doesn’t surprise me. I won’t be surprised if they are a bit miffed with the slots Glasto are offering them. They will probably see their chances with headlining R&L before committing to a below headline slot at glasto.
  17. If his team have been in talks with the festival since 2017 he must be pretty aware of what it is. It looks like he signed up for 2021 too, so it must mean something to him.
  18. If Macca and Kendrick are doing 2022 it’s probably because of the uncertainty of pulling off a full European tour when many countries are relatively shut and have stricter laws. The UK is wide open. Plan consecutive dates across Europe… There is a risk a few shows won’t go ahead. Plan a one off show in the UK. Way more likely it will go ahead. Pretty sure the UK was the only country who had big outdoor gigs in 2021 outside of the US. Is there not an argument that Kendrick considers Glastonbury a massive gig and is more bothered about fulfilling that than the other shows? I’m pretty sure he did Coachella 2017 as a one off.
  19. Billie Eilish, Harry Styles, Paul McCartney/The Rolling Stones.
  20. It wouldn’t shock me if Glastonbury had at least an idea of who they would like to headline in 2023 / 2024. Some slots will be on hold even if contracts aren’t signed. Some conversations will be more advanced than others - for example they are probably in advanced talks with 2023 acts and they may have started to plan around those conversations, but no nothing is locked in place yet. For example Taylor Swift has probably told them to keep a slot for her the next time she tours (whenever that is), so Glastonbury will plan around that and act as if they have one of the headliners in place… but that doesn’t mean Taylor is booked. However if 3 completely different acts came into the frame asking about 2023 they would probably have to say they only have two vacancies available. There will be priorities in the booking process. Emily has probably told Michael that they have three targets for 2023 and conversations are advanced.
  21. Well that’s fine for end of the road but Glastonbury headliners need to pull in 10 times the amount of people that they do. No one is saying smaller crowds and events don’t work. But we are talking about the pyramid stage here. A small crowd on the pyramid stage won’t have the same vibe as an intimate gig. Have you been to a pyramid set with a small crowd? The atmosphere is dead as fuck. A big part of the pyramid is seeing the biggest acts in the biggest crowds. Exactly. It can’t rest on the fact it sells out instantly. Because a big part of that instant sell out is that people buy a ticket with the expectation that Glastonbury will book the biggest acts going. If Glastonbury announced the lineup and put tickets on sale afterward it would be a different conversation. They can take the punt on Wolf Alice if they like… but if they start losing interest because the bookings stop exciting people there will be a huge knock on effect. Glastonbury’s financials rely on it selling out. I don’t think it could survive the hit of a non sell out year.
