LOVE Shambala. Think we’ve been 8 times as a family but next year, thinking of going it alone. It’s sad but I have no likeminded friends into festivals (or even music) and wondered if there’s a platform for meeting other Shambalians who are also going it alone next year? Also would be amazing to meet like minded friends who are local to Market Harborough (the closest town to the festival). I live here but never met anyone who’s even heard of Shambala let alone open to attending. Am mid 40s and would be so good to meet other people on a similar wavelength to hang out now and then 🙂
I go alone to festivals, but have started volunteering with Oxfam. That way you camp with alot of other solo people and get to meet people on your shifts etc. Message me if you want 😊😊

The festival next year is Wed 26 to Sun 30th June 2024.
You can arrive on either the Monday 24th or the Tuesday 25th (up to you) unless you apply for the early shifts.
You should expect to be on site until Monday 1st July.
Thank you!!
All booked, fingers crossed for a volunteering space now

For those that have been to Glasto with Oxfam... What dates should I be looking to book off work.
I'm doing 2 festivals with Oxfam this year to get priority for next year and want to get ahead of myself with the holiday booking 😊

Started worrying I won't get a ticket / will get a ticket but won't get a camper pass.
Also idly looking into volunteering, but it seems volunter spots that let you take your caravan / camper are super rare - I'm too old to camp in a tent 😕
Oxfam let you bring a caravan/campervan 😊

Me and my friend are thinking of trying to get Oxfam spots as they come up. ive not done Oxfam for any fest before (nor have I been to Shambala). anyone done it at Shambala??
Did you manage to get an Oxfam spot?
This is my first time at Shambala and I'm going with Oxfam
I'm going solo and really looking forward to it, it looks great!
Be good to meet up with some people from here at the festival, as I won't know anyone 😊

Last weekend we did a night camping after a sponsored walk and used it as a dummy run to see if we needed anything else. I realised I needed a new sleeping bag, and an airbed for the camp bed as apparently I’m old now 🤣
My friend didn’t realise he took a junior sleeping bag despite being over 6ft so that was a good mistake to make then and not when we go!!
Also want to look at sorting a decent power bank out as the one I ordered (link was on here) cancelled!! Any suggestions for a power bank that will let me the weekend greatly appreciated!
This is the one I've bought recently.
When I asked about it in here, others also recommended it

I just got this one last week! can't comment on it long term but I tested it out and I got about 5 days charge on my iPhone 11. so more than enough with minimal festival use
5 days is good! Sounds good as a backup for my smaller powerbank then!

After a new powerbank
This one any good for the price?

Hi everyone
Just saying hello
This will be my first time at 2000 trees this year and I'm volunteering with Oxfam, and very much looking forward to it!

Thats the one i have! Its very decent. I've previously used yer standard inflatable mattress and this is laughably superior to that. Though i tend to lay it down, put a folded duvet on it, and then sleep in a sleeping bag on top so its extra comfy. YMMV dependant on transport options!
Amazing, thank you!!
I'm volunteering with Oxfam, so it depends how far the field is from the car park. I was thinking possibly a blanket or something on top, then I've got a sleeping pod sleeping bag as I find normal ones a bit too restrictive! 🤣

Have dropped the cat at the cattery
Gone for breakfast
Probably about now grabbing the last few bits from the supermarket, then back to make some food bits to take to eat on the Tuesday and for breakfasts
Then pack everything into the trailer tent

Another possibility.
Find See Tickets on LinkedIn, and give one of the higher up people a message on there

I've never used twitter
Is there a way to get updates/notifications from these accounts straight to your phone?

I've found Karrimor lightweight walking socks from sports direct surprisingly comfortable and good value. They have merino wool which cushions your feet and wicks moisture away
Thank you.
I was actually looking at these yesterday!

Any good websites to buy good walking socks from?

I was looking for another really helpful footwear thread but couldn't find it
Does anyone have any suggestions for walking socks to go with boots?
I'm quite prone to blisters, and last time, I did 2 layers (one thick and one really thin) off the recommendation of someone on here I think.
Still a good idea?

Next question to the campervan crew...
Breakdown cover?
Just had a great quote from Brentacre for insurance, so will most likely go with them. However they couldn't advise on a company for breakdown cover. Any suggestions always greatly appreciated. 😊The RAC do campervan & motor home specific cover.
RAC Arrival I think it's called
