  1. ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿ‘‹ I've booked ๐Ÿ˜

Was kind of planning a year off festivalling but I accidentally bought tickets for this & Camper Calling, both local.

Got to say I'm loving the smaller festivals, have seen majority of this years lineup at different places over the years but live music, in a field, weekend in my campervan, what's not to like๐Ÿ˜‰

You can change your delivery address later via seetickets!

I know but can't risk the info not matching up!ย ย

Good luck everyone, I've bowed out, catch you all later, after June!

  3. Wasn't planning on trying this year, bought a house recently so was going to skip this year..ย ย

Just realised I haven't changed addresses on our registrations so effectively can't even try now ๐Ÿ˜ซ๐Ÿ˜ซ

    ย

  4. As if we couldn't love her enough; check out her Twitter timeline from last night, she made sure all the food from the Mercury's was donated to charity rather than wasted - as a chef I know how hard this is to achieve, so many companies unwilling to help with excess food going to those that need it!

    Played one

I'm a Nick Cave fan and I could easily find one of his tracks that is " durdge".

Have a go at listening to some of his earlier stuff, but make sure it's with either The Bad Seeds or The Birthday Party.

The track was prob quite poignant, something about Kevin & a bird, in a tree or something - but his voice sounded like a pair of football socks filled with concrete going round in a tumble dryer, it was specifically his voice that I did not like.

Too many drummers when they do their own material and too many DJs when they play other people's.

Fun fact; I'd seen both incarnations more thaย  a handful of times before I realised they were in fact the same people ๐Ÿ˜†

  7. She did a short pop-up set at the Barclaycard stage - I say stage but it was basically an advert for Barclaycard with a raised section for their hype up dancers! - at Latitude which I totally missed because; terrible signal, notification came in an hour after it had happened.ย  Bit gutted I missed it after the comments re: intimate gigs.

Loving that she's popping up at lots of festivals this year.

I'm pretty obsessed with her right now. It's been a fucking shit year and I have listened to Prioritise Pleasure to absolute death during it. I feel like it's really got me through some stuff. As a result I cried my eyes out watching her Glasto set on TV!

Was lucky enough to see one of the album launch gigs but I didn't really know any of her songs then. Have tickets for Hammersmith next year, though.

I'm so sorry you've been having such a shit time, caught a few of your posts recently & really hope you're getting through with some helpโค

There is such catharsis with music that connects.ย  I know someone commented about I Do This All The Time, the Wear Sunscreen homage & not connecting with it but there are a few lines in that track that get me every fucking time, and to see it live, wow.ย  Such power in her words.ย ย

Yes I suspect it was quite a low moment for her. I actually think her first album is just as good and she should have taken off sooner but really please it finally has happened for her.ย

They played over an hour set at Latitude so must've been tracks from 1st album inc - I'd had a few espresso martini so couldn't tell you what was played.

I agree with you about the Mercury meaning so much to her, she just comes across as genuine, her music feels so honest, that's prob why the live show affected me so much.

Saw Self Esteem at Neighbourhood Weekender last September. A short but brilliant set!ย

Went to the gig at Belgrave in Nov (?) last year, my goodness, and I mean this in a good way but it was a bit like an arena showed squeezed into a relatively small venue. Took my wife who was not really a fan and she thought it was a great show.ย  Rebecca seems like a really lovely person. Fab sense of humour ๐Ÿ™‚ย

She's got a Northern sense of humour for sure!ย ย

She wore the Boots advantage card dress at Latitude, partner (Northerner) was impressed at the thrifty aspect of reusing advantage cards ๐Ÿ˜…

One of my photos from the Manchester Cathedral gig!ย
    ย

The gig at Yes that I saw was brilliant but also quite sad it was pre-pandemic and it was an acoustic show to give her some Christmas money. I remember going online to buy a t-shirt and the vinyl of her first album as I wanted to make sure she could keep going. And now look at her! Sheโ€™s on fire ๐Ÿ”ฅย

    4FEFEB02-FBD1-46CB-91D5-0789992F2306.jpeg

    Amazing photo!

She is So on fire right now๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ

And your tshirt & vinyl are part of her history, without those sales she may have packed it all in & we would be without such a strong voice -ย  both vocal opinions & singer songwriter voice.

    ย

    ย

  11. So I've searched site & there's no dedicated thread to Self Esteem, how is this even possible?!ย  I've had to create a thread, I am not the thread creating type๐Ÿ˜‰

I purposely didn't head to John Peel tent to see her/(them to inc band), at Glasto because I knew I'd catch them at Latitude.

O my bloody gosh, they blew me the fuck away!

So good in so many ways.ย  Partner was dragged along & it was 1 act I didn't care if they were enjoying or not because I fully intended to stay for the whole set - partner came away absolutely in love with Rebecca Lucy Taylor which is fair, I too am in love with Rebecca!

She brought on the Queer House Party for the last track & gave them front & centre stage which was pure joy.

I cried, quite a bit to be fair like tears streaming down my face & I danced, such good music & i listened, she has stuff to say & I'm fully here to listen.

Would love for her to win the Mercury.

Send your Self Esteem loves here ๐Ÿ˜ (or not it's a free country ๐Ÿ˜‰)

  12. Can confirm 29ยฐc beating sun, windy festival punishing - played hunt the shade for a couple hours midday then had the van awning in & out more times than I care to count, setting on out about a foot to keep a bit of shade over van doorway but not flapping so much it feels like the van sill take off.

What a fucking nightmare! Demand the garage cover your ticket cost.ย

    Got the van back! ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜

5pm collected, home by 5.30pm van fully loaded & on way around 6.15ish!ย  Fasted van pack ever๐Ÿ˜† have bought batteries where I'd usually use rechargeables.

About an hour or so out from Latitude so half set up in dark, large gin, bed then full set up awning etc in morn.

The garage threw in a free drive shaft replacement, they said they had one lying about so put it in, we think they fucked about for the 1st 10days having van, realised they'd fucked us about so when actually cracked on with work did that to keep us sweet.ย  We do use them for all 3 VWs so spend much ยฃยฃยฃยฃ with them.

Did have a windscreen washer malfunction for a few mins about an hour into journey, tbf that's a fault I knew needed doing but completely forgot about due to gearbox failure๐Ÿ™„ washer only come on when intermittent switch is in a certain position and you have to find position whilst is raining & you can't see... not the best but sometimes it works immediately.ย  Will go back to garage when we get back.

  14. Thanks @spgย & @blutarskyย went to garage, van not there.ย  They rang other garage, heard them say for sure, for definite it's on it's way back today.

I'm sat at home twiddling my thumbs, bags packed waiting go Latitude๐Ÿ™„ย

I've not been able to charge any of the battery operated stuff, lanterns etc because everything is in the van!ย  With hindsight sending van to garage with full camping kit in maybe wasn't the best idea๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Is a 3.5hr trip over so as long as we've left by 5pm then we're going tonight otherwise it'll be tomorrow... if the van even comes back today๐Ÿ˜ฆ

our work place have been giving out plastic bottles of water ย to colleagues ย .... despite having ice cold stations for topping up refillable bottles we were given within the last few years .... ive seen it on a facebook post which replies aren't allowed .... ive been off sick and when I return I will ask them why ?ย

I did give a 10 minute lecture on climate change & the realities they were leaving for their children, hopefully some of what I said sunk in๐Ÿคž

  16. Should be packing up the van & heading to Latitude right now, in reality my van is still at the garage, which garage I've no idea!ย  Dropped with our VW specialist 2weeks ago for a gearbox rebuild, have been given 3 (so far) different dates of when it will be ready to collect and the last phone call they told us the whole van had been taken to their gearbox specialist.... so currently have no idea where in the world my van even isโ˜น

The last date they gave was today at "lunchtime" so at 12pm I will be sat on their forecourt, slightly agitated if my van is not in sight!

  17. Prime example of people not taking climate change seriously:

Filling my trusty Glasto bottle at the water station, cases of bottled water on top, colleague says: it's so hot, just take a bottle (plastic) of water why waste time filling a bottle.

Like dude it's literally this feckin hot due to that type if attitude.

Did you opt for print at home tickets? Was it just your campervan ticket that arrived by post? If they are sending them by post that would have been good to know at time of purchase as Iโ€™ve no idea where they will send mine as I didnโ€™t give them an address and my billing address is different to my postal address๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ™„ ticketmaster are useless.

Don't think there was an option either way.

Contact Latitude, hopefully they can help.

  19. Well my campervan isn't going to be ready...

Hoping we can collect on Weds afternoon & either get across to Henham late Weds or failing that Thursday with the rest of the traffic.

Garage that we dropped van with sent it to another garage so I don't even know at this point in time where the hell my van even is๐Ÿ™„

At this rate I'll just be glad to even make it to Latitude ๐Ÿ˜ญ
